Ed Hardy Villain for Men

This scent is one of the favorites in my collection. I don't own The One but I have sampled it several times and have to agree with many of you that it smells quite similar. There are some subtle spice differences but all in all they are very close. I don't see any of you mentioning the sandalwood note which I am picking up and I think that is one of the reasons why I really love this. The combination of the sandalwood sweetened by the amber is exquisite and is complimented by a citrusy opening and accented in the drydown with nuances of spice and a hint of cedar. Yes, I think this is a classy fragrance and yes, I am surprised to see something of this nature with an Ed Hardy label. Seems a bit of an oxymoron if you will or perhaps you have known a classy villian or two in your day. Who am I to judge! In this case I enjoy smelling like a "Villian". Well played Mr Audigier.

I am usually a very girly girl when it comes to the fragrances I like. Not a huge fan of unisex or overtly masculine smelling scents, for my personal scents anyhow. But I will be damned if this isn't a delicious cologne! Makes me think I have been missing a whole plethora of wonderful smells because I have neglected to test men scents based on my closed mind. I am excited to know there are cologne that I actually will wear and enjoy. Most of all I am excited to hunt some more down. Sorry this isn't really a review but I think some females would enjoy this as well and should give it a sniff.

About 4 years ago I was in the local Walmart shopping and remembered I forgot to spray on anything before I left Home. So I ran over to the Fragrance area to see if they had any testers. The only one was Villain. So I sprayed on a few sprays and noticed nothing big in the opening and went on with my shopping. A few minutes went by and and I thought I was smelling someone else around me. What is that Great smell and where is it coming from..OH its me Yes went back to Fragrance area and bought the bottle.

Just reinforcing my previous review on this juice I still love it as much as when I first bought it. I have not changed my mind on it in the slightest and if anything I love it even more now. It still holds a solid position on my 'favorites' shelf and when my current 75 ml bottle runs out I plan to buy the biggest bottle available. Yes, it's that good! Just forget about the label, forget about the house and don't let that become a mental block for you to own and enjoy this fabulous perfume.

This is a great smell. I received it as a tester, but the first time when I putted it on I immediately received a compliment from a girl. I really like the fragrance because it has a fresh and mysterious smell. Also it has an average lasting and has a nice drydown. Really a good underrated fragrance for not that much money!

Like everyone else here, I believe the name is misleading. It's definitely not a 'villain' of a fragrance however I am impressed at how good thus one actually is. Could definitely wear this for any situation since it's very inoffensive. 8/10 overall Very good but not a complete standout.

Can't beat this $10 gem. Juice is of better quality than the price tag. VanillaAmberSlight Pepper...Last decent amount of time for me for what it cost. Re-apply after 4 hours if need be. OK 4 hours later plus two and still have nice projection on my skin. AWESOME stuff! Recommended....

This is my personal favorite of all the Ed Hardy guy colognes. It's definitely a unique herbal/fresh/spice scent. IDK if tangy is the right way to describe a scent, but it definitely has a cool twang to it. It's just different and I love it.

Great scent for a great price. My best friend bought me a gift set and I like it. It smells close to Blue Jeans which is his favorite, but it's different. A bit sweet for me, but I still like it and appreciate the gift.

when i first sprayed it on me, i didn't like it... but then like ten minutes later to the end of the fragrance, it was wonderful. im not gonna describe it. just know its well worth getting

I agree with $$ saying this smells like the one by D&G for me a little better because I get vanilla in the drydown. I really like it and I purchased a bottle I think the best by E.H.

Nice, subtle, pleasant. There are some enjoyable wee notes in there that take turn in coming through. A refreshing alternative to some of my other, more cloying frangrances.

new wave version bottle is really strong overpowering and kind of off putting not a every day type of scent . my opinion reminds me of candies for men kinda

A year later and I've used Dolce & Gabanna The One, so I can firmly compare it to this fragrance, Ed Hardy Villain. Ed Hardy Villain is interesting but opens up with a super harsh open. To me, Villain doesn't hit a similarity to The One until about 40 minutes in. At first it hits you with a Ferragamo F Black or Dior Sauvage like Peppery over-powering baldy of a smell with some Sauvage like bergamot. Unlike Sauvage this dies down into something along the lines of Versace Blue Jeans or The One once it settles. The One comparison isn't that close. I can see it don't get me wrong but it is in a similar vein but not close enough. To me Rogue Man is closer to The One. Villain is a bit of an F Black take. It has The One's spicyiness, but it goes too far. This don't have a sweet cola-like accord at all. Instead it smells a little bit closer to Blue Jeans which too has a cola vine though more fresh and younger. Villain's length is pretty good in that it is comparable to The One. It will last about 4/5 hours with an hour to hour and a half of heavy projection. Unlike The One or even Rogue Man, this works really good in spring and summer and is far more day oriented. That said, don't freshly spray this for work. Please guys, spare the room your pepper bomb. This can be a fragrance that is the reason why some workplaces are going fragrance free. . That said, it is a very good value cologne, especially on Amazon pricing. i would say though that this is a The One option for younger adults. Adults that are 30+ like me COULD pull it off, but it is more high school/college/young professional. I rather use The One or Rogue Man. For my original rating, I gave this a 7.7 but I feel that was too generous being that I only gave The One a 7.3 (likely going a bit higher.) I think instead the 7.3 out of 10 better fits Villain. Good but not needed especially if you have The One.

I blind bought this very cheaply, purely out of curiosity as I heard it smelled like D&G's The One. Well, it does and it doesn't? When I first sprayed it didn't think it opened the same but then sure enough a similarly sweet warm vibe starts to develop. For this reason Villain might just be a little more complex as the opening is bergamot freshness and an almost green quality (like galbanum) which The One doesn't have. Villain hints at a warmer amber and vanilla base much like Rochas man but with that citrus and greens to trick you a bit. Which actually has the effect of making it smell a bit cheaper (which it is) and less 'sexy'. (as The One is often labelled) Again all this was from memory so I tried them against each other when I got home and The One is so much warmer sweeter and more vanilla like right off the bat and in actual fact superior to my nose. They do dry down pretty similar though and I certainly enjoyed the experience, maybe this is what The One Sport should been like? Anyway lasting power is a similar story to D&G not great but passable really. There's been a bit of a backlash against the Ed Hardy brand especially among tattoo enthusiasts who perhaps don't the sell out, commercial aspect to what used to be quite an exclusive group, fast becoming mainstream. Unashamedly, What I really do like about this scent is the packaging. The tattoo design on the bottle is a bit of fun and there's not quite enough of it around for my liking.

This fragrance is not bad at all ! It's also not the greatest but for the price you can't complain. I wouldn't put this in the cheapie but goodie hall of fame but this is still worth having. Yes to my nose and on my skin this is a good clone of D & G The One and I'm glad I have this scent because D & G for some reason doesn't go well on my skin but Villain works pretty well ! To describe this scent it's fresh spicy,that's warm and inviting that's also slightly citrusy as well. It's kind of a bland scent but when my body heats up this actually gets very pleasant. For that reason, I will only use this as a gym scent and maybe occasionally as a going out scent for a warmer summer night when I want to use a sweet or spicy scent but also nothing that's going to get cloying. Performance on this is below average for sure much like D & G The One... I have to spray pretty liberally to get this to project and it really will only project if your in a hot environment or working out. This also only lasted on me 3-5 hours with a lot of extra sprays. Overall rating --- 7 out of 10 ! Good scent but still nothing amazing but the price point is a redeeming factor at least P.s I have received compliments on this !

Dolce & Gabbana The One? Maybe. It's been too long since I've smelled it. Versace Blue Jeans? Yeah, a little, but no more Blue Jeans than Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme. Actually, if you combined the smell of Blue Jeans and D&G Pour Homme and removed the tobacco note, this is what you'd end up with. But one thing I'm surprised about is that no one has compared the texture of this scent to leather. It's VERY leathery, on me at least. Wafts of this tend to change shapes, sometimes more citrus, sometimes more vanilla, but all in all, the texture of this scent is like that of smooth leather. It's quite pleasant and I doubt anyone could truly dislike the smell of this on someone. This would make a great work scent, a great gift, and a great go to fragrance that will never let you down, at a price that won't make you think twice. Well, the longevity might let you down, but D&G The One isn't much better from what I've read. Even for the connoisseur, this fragrance is car scent worthy. For a few bucks you can leave a small bottle of this in your glove box and you'll certainly be glad you did. Say what you want about the Ed Hardy brand, but this one is a winner.

AIRY FRESH CLEAN-LIGHTLY SPICY MODERATELY SWEET & CREAMY Not a bad smelling fragrance... the hate probably comes from the quality of the frag more so than the smell but at the price point you can't really complain. You have to let Villain simmer down before you can appreciate it. Yes it's synthetic or a bit sharp, especially on initial spray, but that also what gives Villain its aromatic(ness); linear scent (not developing at all), fresh-clean sweet lightly-spicy (this is where you get the Blue Jeans & D&G The One comparisons); moderate ambery sweetness mixed with nutmeg + sandalwood + some light musk in the backdrop, but the stars of the composition are the bergamot, cardamom, basil, pepper, nutmeg, lavender, amber, and sandalwood, the bergamot blends with the basil+pepper+cardamom+lavender creating a clean fresh accord mixed with nutmeg+amber+sandalwood adding spicy-sweet-creaminess that blends all together well. Projection/Sillage: OK, rather tamed (not very loud or bold), but decent 'scent bubble' for the 1st 1-2 hours then becomes an in-close scent. Performance/Longevity: OK, will last on avg about 3-5 hours, double the time on clothes

Scent:7.5 Longevity: 6 Projection: 5 Uniqueness: 5 Price: 10 Overall to me this is Versace Blue Jeans Younger brother, more playful and hyped up on sweets targeting the citrus vibe I get but like your typical kid this guy plays himself out quickly.. 2 maybe 3 hours max on my skin, still an OK scent *** UPDATE After a week or so of wearing I've noticed the Versace feel plays down a bit and this becomes a soft sweet woody aromatic and also depending on the weather and your own body chemistry you may be able to get some great longevity with this one. My first wearing yield a complement or two with average projection and longevity. As of lately I've been getting around 5 to 6 hrs so overall still an ok scent

I blind bought this at Goodman’s and when I got it home and opened I was surprised at the presentation quite the interesting bottle, but this is typical of Ed Hardy. When you first spray it the greens hit you hard along with the spicy pepper. But this is short lived and that is not bad, the dry down is really interesting on me the Amber and the Cardamom really stand out along with some lavender notes. It last a descent amount of time and the sillage is there for a few hours for a few feet. For the price and the scent you can’t go wrong. I have a 100+ fragrances and I have Versace Blue Jeans, and G&G The one, Villain does not smell like aforementioned. And The One is basically only a skin scent.

I had a bottle of D&G the one and really liked it. I took it back to the store for a refund because I could not get it to last on my skin. When I heard that Ed Hardy's Villain smelled like it I had to get a bottle. Comparing these two I have to say they are similar but IMO The one is a little darker in its presentation and Villain is brighter. I have to give the edge to villain because it only cost 12.99 for a 2.5 oz and the one is around 50.00 for a 1.7 oz. Also, The longevity in Villain is superb I get at least 7 hours out of a day wearing. If it's a name your worried about get the D&G but if your looking for a great fragrance and want to save some money in the process get Villain.

Well, after 3 nights wearing Ed Hardy's Villain I can say this fragrance is GREAT, very underrated I must say. For me it's very fresh, herbal, sweet, casual and masculine. The basil here is just great!!! Yes, it can remind you of Dolce & Gabana The One but a little more flat when it dries down, but still feels great. Haven't try Versace Blue Jeans so I can't compare them. I'm not a big fan of Ed Hardy's fragrance collection but Villain is truly the best masculine fragrance they have. Got complements, lasted like 6 to 8 hours on me, projects very good, is not expensive and it's a safe buy. Give it a try!!! 2.5 out of 5.

Hidden gem this is basically like the summer version of D&G the one except this one is more affordable you can find it for a reasonable price if you like D&G the one you'll certainly like this the longevity is good on my skin as well I get around 6hrs. of good projection then beyond the 6hrs. it sits close to the skin but it last about total time around 8 to 9 hours before its completely gone I usually use about 5 or 6 sprays in cooler weather and about 3 or 4 in hotter weather its a year round scent 7/10 check it out its so affordable you can blind buy this one

This fragrance is great IMHO. I mean, yes, it's associated with an old tattoo artist (Hardy)...but this is exactly why folks turn their noses up at it - or rather, away from it. I do agree, It is not what I would expect a "Villain" to smell like, but is a nice. sweet fragrance with surprisingly good silage and pretty decent longevity. I am in line with the last few reviews. To me, it is a FUN, post workout frag with a nice amber tone. I am not disappointed by it; it has it's place and time.

Well, on me, Villain is just a citrus. A fairly nice citrus though. I get a bergamot opening, almost a orange/lemon scent with slight amber. And - that's all I get...at the moment. Doesn't seem very potent. It's strange, people are saying it smells like The One, now I haven't smelled The One but when I look at the notes - the main note is tobacco. On me, Villain has no tobacco note at all. Villain is citrus with slight amber, that's all I smell. A bit disappointed with this, I have to say.

Embarrassed that I bought anything Ed Hardy. So douchy. But I'm glad I read the reviews and was able to pick this up on clearance. As many have said it does smell similar to D&G The One. The Bottle is so tacky though, just like everything Ed Hardy. But it does surprisingly smell good to me. I'd recommend it for those on a budget. And if you don't like it well it only cost like 10 bucks. So you can keep the tin container and give it away.

This feels very masculine, but at the same time, perfectly wearable for me as a young woman. It's mainly a creamy amber/sandalwood, but with that spicy/herbal note that so many men's scents have. It doesn't scream masculinity, just gently calls back to familiar tropes while mostly letting the softer notes have the spotlight. It's nice on days where I'm feeling a bit more masc than usual.

Really happy about this blind buy(bottle did seem a little young for my tastes) smells pretty close to D&G the one which I was thinking about buying the edp of eventually prob not after this. It projects moderately 1st few hours then dies down to skin scent, but lasts 10+ hours on me and that's saying a lot my skin usually eats frags up.

It is a low quality scent, but this frag seems to be the connection between Versace Blue Jeans and D&G The One. The scent does have similarities to both. If anything I'll use it as a carry-on to freshen what was initially sprayed. I'm sure it doesn't hurt. Good stuff for the price.

Almost purchased this today because it was 50% off at Dillards. Glad that I asked the associate to spray this on my skin because it does smell exactly like D&G The One. I dont have a use for Villain because I already have D&G The One.

This one is definitely a cross between D&G The One and Versace Blue Jeans!! Decent performance and realy cheap!! Fresh and citrusy open and a sweet spicy creamy dry down!!

i paid pretty much full retail for this and don't have a single regret...it's not the best but it's a decent smell that seems to last forever on me

i don't have and haven't tried the d&g similar frag but i love this and for the price who cares .

He might be a villain, but his clothes smell fresh out of the wash. Very laundry soap-esque.

This is not very good at all. Like a diluted version of Blue Jeans. Happy I sold it. 3/10

An old school 90s vibe type of scent. Mature, grown up and respectable. Reminds me of my uncles. Has its similarities to Versace Blue Jeans in the opening but less sweet with more of those Woody Aromatic notes. It also has some similarities to D&G The One, but less polished. Performance is okay. Moderate longevity and projection. Nothing too special. It gets me til about midday then I'd have to respray. I have been using this to the office for some time now and it has slowly become by dumb reach office scent. It just smells very mass pleasing and inoffensive that I've made it my daily "Another day at the office" go-to. Since it's a great office scent I bet you could pull this off throughout all 4 seasons. Overall with this Woody Aromatic, I'd rate a solid 8/10! Well done by Ed Hardy creating a great affordable scent!

I'm not sure why everyone rags on the Ed Hardy fragrances, I like all the ones I've smelled so far. I picked this up really cheap at Ross. Mostly I get the amber and citrus like everyone else. A very warm type of scent and very sweet. Pepper and cardamom are in the notes but it's not too spicy at all, which if it was would irritate my nose a bit. I definitely get the citrus, but you wouldn't out right say "yep, that's lime!" It's decently blended. Definitely enjoy this smell. It's not gonna blow your mind at all, but really enjoyable. As for sillage I wore it to work a couple weeks ago and I walked by one of my coworkers a decent distance away and her head popped up and she could smell something...but i don't think she knew it was me cause I was sort of far away. That being said, it's only like that for the first hour or so and mellows out. On my skin I get about 5 to 6 hours and then it's a skin scent, pretty decent for a cheapie. Another thing to note...the sprayer isn't that great. It almost makes me think with the snake on the front the sprayer spits on you like venom or something...which would work if that's the theme they're going for, the warm ambery smell and feel would be something like venom too. Altogether really do like it, though. Maybe 7 out of 10...

Tried this as an alternative to D&G The One based on reviews. I love the D&G fragrance so bought this to try out for my boyfriend. Unfortunately, this was a bust. The richness isn't there. The creaminess isn't there. The warmth isn't there. All the things I adore in The One are lacking in Villian. Strange how something can be so similar but also so different. A sweet and very artificial scent to my nose. Almost nauseating. I will be buying D&G for my BF after all.

Very masculine, warm, enveloping, rich sweetness, gently smouldering. If I have any complaint, it is that it is a bit too sweet, almost sticky, the aroma seems to congeal into viscous wafts, a little too dense. It needs something to lighten it a bit, perhaps a touch of citrus. It makes a great first impression, like a strikingly handsome man, who after awhile, displays some annoying habits which get on your nerves.

The opening of this is a total jumble. All the notes tossed in a cocktail shaker and all hitting you at once. After a few minutes it toned down. I found it kind of minty for a short time (toothpaste!? eek!) After that it is just a mild, slightly sweet spicy cologne. Very glad I only sampled. Will not finish this, though my son may like it.

Read many good reviews here for Villain and bought it yesterday without trying (2.5oz $15 at Ross), sprayed on my hand and walked home, first couple hours thought it smells pretty good, but next morning couldn't stand it - smells way too sweet so it gives me a headache. Returned it. So try it before buying.

I like the bottle design and the juice is decent but nowhere near The One. I'm all for cheaper alternatives to pricier frags, but wouldn't pick this one up as a replacement even with the huge price difference. And it's not that much more longer lasting than the D&G to be honest. It's a pass for me.

I want to like this one, but I just don't. My bottle is almost full still. I will say the initial spray is bad but it actually gets a lot better. So...if you try this don't even pay attention for about an hour then see what you think.

My goodness, this is good. Flowery and 'gingery', must be the cardamom/nutmeg blend. I'm female and I love wearing this. It's the best Ed Hardy men's fragrance yet. It may possibly be the best Ed Hardy fragrance, period.

Sampled this in a perfume shop today, didn't like it at all. 1/5

First off, this is NOT the scent of any kind of villain I've ever heard of. This stuff is mildly spicy/woody, sweet and warm - more of an overall "good guy" vibe. So... false advertising! :P That said, it's a nice, inoffensive scent that should easily qualify as a crowd pleaser. Overall, there is not a whole lot of evolution in the lifespan of Villain. The initial spray brings enough citrus and lavender to make for a sweeter combination of Ferragamo F Black and Carolina Herrera CH Men Prive. But that fades quickly into an extended dry down, which reveals a more refined and comforting side. After that initial few minutes, amber takes over, accented by herbs and spices, with no one note being too prominent. Having tried many similar-ish scents, I've found that many seem to bring this weird combo of cardamom and sage - both of which I like, but together, not so much. This one also brings that, but tempered much more by the dominant amber (vanillic), nutmeg and pepper notes. For me, this makes all the difference, and is the reason why I really like this one. And yes, there are some similarities with D&G The One, though I think not as much as some would claim. Villain is more like a dumbed down, brighter and more youthful take, without the darker elements that give TO its sultry aspect. I'd say that as long as you understand this and keep your expectations in check, I'd say this like a younger cousin to the EDT version. Not even close to the EDP tho. Longevity is on the limited side, and projection slight. But IMO, way too much is made of projection/sillage anyway. Wear the stuff b/c YOU like it; don't be that d-bag who insists on pushing his vapors on others - let them come to you to enjoy it! Bottom line: This ones a sweet, slightly floral, citrus woodsy scent that seems best as an evening or cool weather scent - but I can see it working in pretty much any situation. It's cheap and the bottle looks more than a little bit adolescent; but it's decent juice all the same. Might be a bit youngish and generic for my tastes, but then the wife likes it - so who am I to argue with that?!

First dab sampling: This is really good! I tried The One a long time ago and didn't like it, though that was probably the first half hour or so. Anyway, this is a spicy/woody with some sweetness/softness from the amber. Also, with spices and amber you sometimes get a fruity kind of quality, which is true here. It is quite smooth and yet the woody texture keeps it "structured." One person compared it to Samba Kiss Me Man, but this is far superior, IMO, as that one is not as well balanced and seems to get "sticky" after a while. I've read to get the New Wave versions of Ed Hardy scents, and my bottle was made by this company, just in case anyone wants to know. I'll update when I give this a regular wearing. UPDATE: I like this even more with a regular wearing. It has a clear gourmand element to the drydown but it's not dominant. The wood and to a larger degree the spice prevent it from smelling too much like food and not enough like something else (that would offer some contrast). It's a little musky, but that element isn't sharp. I'm not sure I detect lavender in the drydown so if you dislike scents with the typical "masculine" lavender note I don't think this will bother you. For the current prices this is a great deal if this is what you are seeking.
