Fétiche L’Iris

If you are an iris note lover like me, then this is one I recommend smelling. I had one of those rare "throw the head back" experiences in Nordstrom smelling this one. I couldn't stop thinking about it once I emptied the sample vial and back I went today and bought a bottle. This is classified as a chypre, and I would say it smells like a modern interpretation of one. I smell no aldehydes in this. It's so beautifully blended, soft, warm and has a woody almost subtle smoky effect to me. It's not that it smells like smoke per se, but there is an earthy woodiness here. I am picky about patchouli, but it is so well done, I like it. I have a lot of iris perfumes and this is not like any I currently own, including L'Ange Noir. This is different. It does smell luxury and lasting power and projection are very good for an iris perfume. Thank goodness it comes with an alternate cap as I am afraid I will poke myself with that lid. I notice I get whiffs of a beautiful sillage that is sweeter than when I smell my wrists. Oh my gosh, I think this is so beautiful!

Some of these reviews are bizarre 👀 I loved this! Classic cold orris is heavier in the opening (not a powdery lipstick Iris), and then the witchier aspects of patchouli unfold but restrained a bit - not quite as loud as, say, Magie Noir. I detect a smidge of incense that isn’t listed here as a note, maybe a tiny bit of Vetiver too. This is really lovely, and absolutely perfect for cold weather in Fall/Winter. If you’re an Iris lover and can tolerate or love patch, definitely get your nose on this one.

Now this, this is really good...... To the point that I’m going to purchase this tonight because I tried it late morning today and I cannot get this out of my minddddd🫣🫣🫣🫣🫣 It’s a beautiful and sophisticated iris without being too earthy or damp. It’s the perfect amount of chic iris without being too much...the grounding patchouli is also great. It’s a sophisticated patchouli that never goes hippie or dirty. Just perfect! Gotta have a full bottle!✨💜✨💜✨💜✨

Creamy, peppery iris and patchouli. It smells like it has to have some tonka bean in it too. Very warm but dark, alluring Also I'm someone who usually doesn't like iris but I love this, it isn't a lipsticky kind at all, has a tiny sweetness. The patchouli here is clean and approachable It reminds me a lot of Orpheon but not soapy, more of an edge to it, and Orpheon is colder It also reminds me a lot of the Bath & Body Works Moonlit Graveyard candle

a Beautiful addition to my collection, a definition of a luxury scent, Openning with a lovely powdery-irisy note and drys down beautifully on the skin. I always enjoying having a perfume with a character and unique identity , and guys this is one of them Over all 9.5/10

Creamy & Earthy orris contrasted with boozy, sweet patchouli. This gives witchy, rich b*txh vibes. Love it!

From the Fetiche discovery set: This one is very interesting. There is most definitely iris in this especially in the opening, but it is much more complex than a simple iris scent. It's a very peppery and earthy iris, which I think comes from the orris root (I think, not really sure what orris smells like). I can smell the patchouli as well, but i'm used to patchouli being paired w cocoa, and this has none of that. A super unique take on iris imo. If I had to compare this fragrance to a combination of colors it would be a swirl of light violet, deep purple, dark forest green, and a woody brown. I think it swings slightly feminine but it is a mature feminine scent.

Leathery creamy iris, prominent patchouli heart, mature...leaning more feminine than masculine. Perfect for nighttime. The dry-down is creamy and powdery, dark yet sweet. I sense some woody incense notes and the sweet note evades me...but it has a sweetness to it without it being amber nor gourmand. It feels too mature and strong tor me, but I did enjoy the scent.

Fresh, floral iris. Sweet and powdery with a touch of green, the iris takes prominence backed by a clean patchouli. It flirts with both "makeup compact" and "bar soap" but the sweetness of the patchouli keeps it focused more in the purple floral direction. Moderate projection for 3-4hr, longevity 8-10hr.

I actually loved this. This is not Iris but Orris root, which is fleshy, not powdery. The patchouli provides a nice balance. The entire line is earthy if not a bit raw and carnal, and this is no exception.

Meh, it was okay... I found this kind of strong on the patchouli though and I would have liked more iris in this fragrance! It isn't even listed as a note in this perfume on here... I also would have liked it more if it were less woody smelling. Fetiche L'iris was a somewhat pleasant fragrance though and it wasn't too strong or half bad. Longevity was decent at 6 hours too and it had an arm's length sillage. It is a feminine and moody fragrance too and I could imagine it working well during night time in either fall or winter. I was not madly in love with this offering by Christian Louboutin though and so, I'd only give it a 6/10. That bottle cap also reminds me of a butt plug, which is a bit tacky...

Opens up with a beautiful, ethereal musky iris. However, on my skin after a few minutes, it developed into a masculine aftershave scent, whereas on paper it didn't. Please be sure to test on your skin. I think this would smell better on a man. Tested it at Nordstrom. Scent: 9 out of 10 Strength: 7 out of 10 More masculine For reference, I'm female.

It hit me like new leather, I don't know what iris is but this isn't it.I guess I don't like Orris or patchouli, at least this makes it simple to narrow down. It was a bad choice for an early morning sample at least.

Smells like someone with body odor trying to cover it up with an iris perfume.

There is zero iris scent to this, so I'm not sure where everyone is getting the "classic iris" experience from. It's a contemporary woody oriental, with dominant patchouli notes. "Not too powdery" is the understatement of the year. It's a lovely fragrance, very rich, modern, and sophisticated, and it smells somehow vaguely Christmassy to me, but an iris fragrance it absolutely is not.

I tried this in store the other day on paper, while the combination of iris and woody notes smells really luxurious (gives luxury boutique vibes, fitting for Christian Louboutin), sadly I think the patchouli is too strong for me in this one, I tend to prefer more powdery Iris scents, but I am curious to also try this on skin next time I get the chance, when the weather cools down.

This is truly beautiful. A classic elegant iris perfume that is not too powdery. Stunning use of patchouli and the balance of iris and woody notes give it a timeless Hollywood black and white glamour vibe! Absolutely loving it!

I do love iris and orris but in this blend I don’t like them at all and that’s because the patchouli dominates everything, just a patch bomb honestly. Definitely not for me. Very mature and earthy.

I pick up a lot of Vetiver and maybe violet leaf in the opening. Not some of my favorite notes but this is elegant and enchanting in a dark and twisty way.

Smells like Johnson and Johnson Baby Shampoo after it dries down!

To me this is a wearable version of Iris Malikhan....
