Gossip

The Short: I love this. Floral fruity sweetness with a subtle woody dry down. The Long: Got this for $1 at a yardsale. I loved the bottle and the red cap. I didn’t even open it to sample it. A year has come and gone and I found this hiding behind a different boxed bottle. Popped open and sprayed. It is bright and citrusy, sweetly floral, a teensy bit herbal and then softly woodsy. It has presence and longevity. * Matillyrose and HeidiLynn really did great reviews on notes. I don’t think I need a back up bottle but, I smile when I see this bottle because I know it is going to lift my spirit. Although, I would snap it up if I found it out in the wild for the right price. Please note, I really love perfumes of yesteryear. If you are not a fan in general, you may not like this.

Gossip by Cindy Adams: My mom received a bottle of this as a gift and did not care for it so she gave it to me when I was a teen. Omg I miss this perfume so much! It is sweet and syrupy. Loved it!

This is a very under-rated perfume which is great for me cuz i especially like perfumes that everyone isn't wearing, i love this scent and i cant wait to get back another bottle

Smells very boudoir feminine. I'm testing Gossip when it's raining heavily outside and all I can see is grey overcast skies - and Gossip surprisingly acts as a comfort smell here. It's not particularly woody, oudy or ambery as I usually like my comfort smells to be, but a comfort flower scent. Gossip does have notes of amber and wood, but osmanthus is very prominent here as well as freesia, and they are both loud noticeable flowers. There is a lovely interweaved powdery note, and a refreshing green tea note that keeps this whole thing sweet-smelling but pleasant. Gossip does not smell expensive, there is some cheapness about it, but it attracts nevertheless - like tarty peroxide blonds attract perfectly groomed intelligent men. There is sexiness in Gossip, and it's well-blended, so for the nice price of $6.45 for 15 ml it's totally worth having. The staying power is couple of hours, then I could smell vanilla only when pressing my nose to the wrist. If wanted, reapplication is easy - the mini is a super cute little spray bottle, fits into any purse.

Gossip is very true to its name. I just love the Tangerine opening...juicy and full of tart innuendos just like gossip should be. Then you get to the temptation...the sweetness of creamy florals to lure you in. Then there is the heart... the dark, shadowy, whispering woods where you finally find out the hidden truth. Yes this Fragrance is very much like Gossip. Also reminds me of the scene in Bridget Jones Diary 2 when she is spying on Mark Darcy and slides off his skylight into the bushes to be greeted at the door by the gorgeous Rebecca. This is a fun, sweet, slightly floral, musky, oriental sandalwood fragrance that I enjoy wearing as much as I have enjoyed reviewing.

#MorningSicknessProtip When I was pregnant, this perfume was the only thing that would cure my nausea. I was sick to death. When I was at the grocery store I passed a woman whose smell made my nausea immediately subside. I asked her what perfume she was wearing and it was Gossip. I immediately ordered a bottle and kept it with me at all times during my pregnancy. It was a literal lifesaver.

Gossip is a late 90's floral amber, in the same family as VS Amber Romance or Ferragamo's Incanto. The style of amber is a rich, vanilla amber with an emphasis on rich, golden notes (vs a more dry, powdery style of amber). In this, it's a fairly predictable scent that would appeal to those Fragranticans who love that style of Amber (I enjoy it, but don't need all my frags to smell that way). That said, there are features of Gossip that give it some uniqueness. The opening completely belies how the rest of the fragrance develops. The first 10 minutes smell like raspberry lemonade (maybe the mandarin listed?); after that, it gets a bit watery and even ozonic, with a tiny hint (to my nose anyway) of mint. It smells as if it were going in the direction of a fruity-watery scent, but then takes a 90degree turn and begins to develop the golden, rich amber scent which exist for the duration of the scent. And Gossip has good longevity; my first trial of this scent, I thought it faded after 4 hours, but this time (in warmer weather), I could smell it fairly prominantly even after 7 hours. Sillage is modest-good, I'm sure those next to me could smell it but it was not obtrusive. I know my review doesn't mirror the notes listed. I do smell tea when I press my nose to the bottle, but not on my skin. The woody notes and sandalwood are part of the richness of the amber, I'm sure; and Gossip certainly has a floral presence, but not distinct enough for my nose to identify; if I try, I smell the violets, but they are not strong enough to give any powder to this scent. Not sure how easy this is to get (got mine in a swap), but for those looking to add a golden amber with a little more character than drugstore body sprays, this is a nice little scent.

Nice, I get to write the first review. I guess nobody has heard of this. I hadn't and it has been out for 15 years, designed by New York Post's Page Six gossip columnist Cindy Adams. I just happened to find a mini bottle at a vintage perfume sale and thought I would give it a shot. It seemed like a very linear scent to me, it did not change much throughout the day. I smelled maple, tea and amber. I could not detect floral at all. It seemed better suited for a fall day, almost spiced like cider. Since I was not too impressed I was surprised to receive a compliment on it! The cashier at the sandwich shop told me "Your perfume smells wonderful. It reminds me of my grandmother's White Diamonds." Uh....thanks? I hate White Diamonds, and I don't think this smells a bit like it at all. But I never get random compliments on my scent...so there is that.

Although it starts off somewhat screechy,Gossip dries down to a rich,soapy floral with a thick base of golden amber, musk and woods.I don't care for the first fifteen minutes on my skin, before checking the notes here, I thought for sure that there must be peach listed. I get the same feeling from Tresor but I never end up liking Tresor much after the drydown. Although this is not a perfume by Sophia Grojsman, I notice that a lot of her perfumes ( for me anyway ) start off with that peachy, screechy note that I mentioned. I do love her work though and there's only a couple of hers that don't work for me. Anyway....got off topic for a moment. Gossip morphs into a very perfumey, very soapy floral and I quite like it....smells like a perfume from the nineties. I bought my .5oz bottle online for under ten dollars.
