8 AM

I had a couple of these scents on my radar for a few years, so I ended up just purchasing a perfume sample collection. Although it's not why we're all here, I do want to add that it came in a nicely presented package (black and gold stripes). 8AM is lovely. It's simple, but it smells expensive. On my skin, I'm mainly getting orris and sandalwood, maybe a little neroli. Vanilla is not dominant at all, which I'd suggest is a plus here. I do agree with the "vibe" on their site that this does smell opulent and alluring. The only thing I'd disagree on is it being genderless. It does read as more 'femme of center' to me. While I don't necessarily think it's for me, if you're looking for an affordable, orris-forward scent, you should give 8AM a try.

I'm surprised by the dislike ratio here, because I find this to be quite accessibly beautiful. If I were to rank the notes by prominence, it would be the inverse of what's listed here; orris and sandalwood dominate, followed by vanilla and neroli. I love orris, and it's in fine form here, powdery and delicately floral. That note is ensconced in soft woods, rounded out by a hint of vanillic creaminess. It's both rich and cozily intimate. I enjoy 8 am immensely.

Baby powder is all I can think of with this one unfortunately. Very minimal sillage though so it's tolerable but not suitable for a young person (ironically) unfortunately

Neroli isn't obvious to me AT ALL. I get powdery floral + powder fresh deodorant smell. I would've guessed rose & iris/orris. It's not creamy. I don't get much Sandalwood. I could see a classic drugstore lotion having a scent like this. It just has a very traditional European/French feel to it. It's very pleasant, soft, & classy, and easy on the nose. Likely wouldn't cause a headache in sensitive people, but might smell too old fashioned for some.
