Agua Vetiver

Background information: I started getting into fragrances some months ago, and sweet scents were my starting point because they smelled fun and nice, and woody/fresh scents just weren't doing anything for me. However, as I ventured further I found myself mesmerised by different notes. First it was marine notes, then it was cedar, and then it was vetiver. I couldn't figure out why I felt so much for them, until I realized it was because they reminded me of the south of Portugal, where me and my family have gone on vacations since forever. I got obsessed with the idea of a fragrance that would somehow be those memories in a bottle, and I googled fervently for "Portuguese smells" or "Portuguese perfumes". Eventually I found this perfume and I didn't have much choice but to order it immediately. It's incredibly pine-y and fresh, with a strong cedar and vetiver scent - reminiscent of the sand dune bushes by the beaches. The bergamot extends a slight citrus-y feel, and the seaweed hits you softly like the sea breeze does by the coast. Very masculine, but would be very sexy on a woman who could wear it right. Perfect for a hot day during the spring or summer - just a pity that the sillage doesn't last very long. I love this cologne and it has gotten a lot of love from my friends and family too. It was exactly what I was looking for, and now on days that I feel that the "saudade" is getting too heavy, I spray it on me a couple of times and bask in the memories. Wonderful.

Such a beautiful, calming vetiver! Reminds me of the big vetiver classics: Guerlain's Vetiver, Frederic Malle's Vetiver Extraordinaire, but much more gender neutral. It is rather close to the scent of the actual vetiver root, with its woody, earthy, almost mineral quality. Indeed, as Space_Carnation wrote before me, it has a hint of the beach and vegatation at a warm early summer sunset, with the orange colours of the sky (amber). A quiet, introspective fragrance of a solitary evening walk in Cascais. :) Definitely has Lynn Harris's fingerprint on it. Helps my nervous system to relax and settled. More lasting on textile than skin.

Wonderful fragrance, such high quality, truly unisex. Refreshing and very good for every day use. I had a 10ml bottle and loved it. One of my favorites.

Very beachy vetiver. I would call it "aquatic" but that's a bit inaccurate- it smells like the -beach- with plants nearby. Not too sweet. I don't think it's for me but I have nothing bad to say about it. B+ longevity and projection. After a couple of hours the sweetness disappears and it becomes something much more to my taste.

Soily - nutty vetiver, musty damp wood, traces of celery, & worn leather Overall it’s pretty much a solid vetiver soliflore.
