Clean Skin

I saw a bottle on sale in the local store and bought it after sniffing, because i liked the price and how musky it smelled. Mistake. After coming home i realized it reminds me of Bvlgari Crystalline edt which i already had and swapped away because it was too aquatic and had the wrong type musk to me. Well i never learn, i just too impatient when i find something I think i may love. Clean Skin is more powdery than Crystalline edt, but otherwise very similar. This is musky shower fresh clean fragrance. It doesn’t smell skin to me, it rather resembles freshly showered skin smell, including the smell of a shower gel on ones skin, this is what marketing makes us to think «shower fresh skin», including aquatic, lotus and green tea notes. I do like the musk here, it is just that it is not exactly «my» type of musk. I think it is hard to find a good musk fragrance. Most of what described as musk, often smells to me as soap, shampoo or laundry detergent, i just don’t see a point having a fragrance that smells these things. Musk in Clean Skin is a kind of skin musk type. While it is still not perfect musk for me, it is much better that many white musks out there. I can see it being cozy or even sexy on a right person. I hear everybody who says this fragrance is sexy. It is, not in a NR line kind of way, but in a subtle way. I smell also flowery notes there, most likely lotus, a bit of rose. also powdery notes. lasts very good on me, i took a light shower yesterday after about 3 hours of application, and still could smell the perfume few hours later. Linear development though. I am not going to use it very often, while it is nice fragrance, it lacks personality and it is generally not «me». I am going to keep it for a while, to see maybe i will like it more. or maybe will use it for layering and see how it works in combination with others. I see it as very «safe» for office, healthcare workers, or generally in places when you suppose not to wear any fragrance but still want to, this one can easily pass as body care/shower product smell and nobody will ever assume you wear a fragrance. Recommend to try to all who likes simple, clean, shower fresh fragrances, also who likes to keep sillage to minimum. EDIT: a year later: i actually ended up using this one a lot more than i initially thought i would. great fragrance for summer days, when i do not want anything sweet or floral. this is pretty simple musk, with just a touch of floral blend and suits me well. lasts very long actually, some days i could smell it after 8 hours.

This, and the entire line of CLEAN fragrances, were not meant to be like "traditional" perfumes. So once you shed that expectation, the easier it will be to understand and appreciate this fragrance. "Traditional" perfumes, along with a person's body chemistry, adds a special olfactory quality, a certain character or pizzazz if you will, that accentuates the wearer. What this fragrance does is that it very subtlely accentuates a clean, fresh smelling person. Sometimes, (and daily for some people) that is all that is wanted. In other words, to smell good, clean, and fresh, but not necessarily perfumed with an olfactory artwork that makes a bold statement. You know how when you just get out the shower, the scent left on your skin by the shower gel that you used? Sometimes you might want to keep that scent all day. Some people want that every day. Well, this prolongs that subtle, fresh smell on your skin and can be freshened through out the day. This fragrance is loaded with musk. If by chance you think the fragrance is gone within an hour, you most probably are anosmic to the musk in this fragrance and that's not an uncommon occurrence. Perfumers will often use more than one musk in hopes that you'll catch a whiff of at least one of them. Other people can smell it though and if you're someone that wears musk very well, you will get a lot of compliments. Some people will even find this fragrance extremely sexy! To describe the smell I would say it's like a grown up (sexier) version of Love's Baby Soft. Although they don't smell exactly alike (Love's contains a noticable lavender note, Skin doesn't), they are in that same vein of a fresh smelling fragrance (I think because of the musk component as well as flower notes in common). One reviewer even said that the smell of this reminded her of the girls she went to elementary school with. I bet they were wearing Love's Baby Soft. It's a definite keeper in my fragrance wardrobe that can be worn all year long and its longevity is about 6-8 hours.

I found a rollerball of this lying around my younger sister's apartment this weekend. I love a few of the other CLEAN scents, but couldn't imagine what more could be done with these fragrances after ORIGINAL CLEAN...SHOWER FRESH...WARM COTTON etc. And just after glazing over MORE additions to the CLEAN fragrance collection in Sephora I thought to myself..."Okay CLEAN Fragrances...ENOUGH ALREADY!!!" but of course like many times before I was completely wrong. After my initial pre-application sniff of CLEAN Skin..I thought..."meh.." then..."yuk". Not sure why I decided to actually apply it after being so bored by just smelling it...but MY OH MY it was good...in a simple and clean sort of way. It reminds me of all the girls who attended my elementary school, and always smelled like sweet flowers, but who despite my efforts to mimic their smell, always escaped me well into adulthood...until now. To put it simply...CLEAN Skin smells...well...like a GOOD-SMELLING PERSON! LOL! (Which I'm sure was the fragrance companies' exact goal.) A close-to-the-skin blend of musk, florals, and vanilla, which took about 5 minutes to blend with my body chemistry. And once the fragrance and my body chemistry mingled, lasted well over 12 hours. I think I'll go for a rollerball of this scent. While I think it's a cute fragrance, I don't feel that it's worth the $68 for a full bottle which will probably spoil before I get a chance to finish it. The best part of the fragrance, is the unexpected visits from my sweet smelling elementary school friends who's names I have long forgotten...but who I will never forget how pretty they smelled, whenever I move!

So, this has been a scent I've came back to time and time and again. Last winter I ran out and needed another bottle so I ordered one. When I got it, opened, sprayed it on, and [cough, cough]. What happened to this? So, just like almost every other fragrance on the market it had to be reformulated. Once that process, was complete, it was put in vats, thrown in bottles, packaged, and sent out to stores. No time to macerate. So, when I bought it and sprayed it on, it smelled like windex, but never fear. I put it away for a while in a cool, dark place and let it sit. I took it out a little while ago, sprayed it, and "Oh, hello old friend. Good to see you're your old self again. Welcome back!" So, if you get a bottle that's not quite smelling like old self, put it away for a little while and allow it to macerate a little longer and let those molecules do their thing. These things sometimes take time, and climate has a lot to do with it particularly if shipped from one place to another across the world. Try that and see if you get your old friend back. There may be a bit of a difference because an ingredient was replaced and things were rearranged a bit, but I think things will be much better for you once you complete this process. I had in put away for about 6 months. This scent is something I can wear all year round. The reserve blend, I'm sorry, I can't stand. I feel like I really have sticky praline and salt on my skin, but that's just how my skin plays the scent. Like everything else, your chemistry tells how a scent will be on your skin.

Skin is the kind of scent that presents as a simple floral musk but reveals something a little bit deeper and seductive as it wears. Upon first application, you only get musk and, unfortunately, alcohol (which evaporates quickly anyway). It smells light and almost immature when you first put it on, but not necessarily in a bad way. Floral, cheerful, and nondescript. The dry-down is where this scent REALLY shines. It is ever-so-slightly sweet, less floral, and just the teensiest bit warm. The dry-down and base notes really explain why it's called "skin." This is perfume you wear on a date when you're actually into the person. The dry-down smells good, but as a low-projection scent with nothing too bold you have to get close to smell it. People may be fooled that you're just a naturally good smelling person. The hyper-natural dry-down is what makes this, for me, a bit of an avant-garde scent. No individual component is so unusual or subversive, but it's unusual for a "good" smelling scent to be so close to what you imagine naturally good-smelling skin to smell like. Going off my own experience (and not only marketing), here are the notes that I detect: floral, musk, baby powder, cashmere, subtle vanilla, water. Vibes are as follows: -realizing you're sitting closer to someone than you thought -laying in the sun during a picnic with your friends -off shoulder cashmere sweaters

I tried different Clean perfumes and Clean Skin is, by far, my favorite. For a while I couldn’t find it. I think maybe a new company purchased it? Since they’ve come back, the products are better, they have more in their line (candles, etc.) and they’re ‘cleaner’ for the environment. After trying various ones, Clean Skin Classic was my go-to. When Clean Skin Reserve came out, I took the leap and was SO glad I did! It’s amazing! It’s the same smell but a bit stronger- in a good way- as in it lasts longer. I’ve spoken with people at the company and they’re are friendly and helpful. I don’t have a distinguished nose where I can smell all the tiny subtleties that others can. I like it or I don’t. It’s floral or citrusy or aquatic. It smells like an old woman or like a teenager. It makes me sneeze or it doesn’t. Whatever. Someone said to just take a shower to smell clean. Not the same. It’s not a soapy smell. It’s refreshing, light, clean (as in not heavy & strong) and intoxicating to where you just want to keep inhaling it! It says musky but I don’t smell that. Musky is sour, tart, strong and always makes me sneeze. This is nothing like that. It’s gentle. I work at a hospital and I’ve gotten tons of compliments! Try the Clean Skin Reserve!!!!

I had to come back and edit my review, as this scent, in my opinion, is a beautifully-blended, subtle MASTERPIECE! Though it is unoffensive and natural, it is intimate. It has an underlying sophistication and elegance to it, even though it is so simplistic in nature. I recommend spritzing this on after a bath or a shower - it really evokes comfort and coziness despite being so fresh. I didn't know something could smell warm yet fresh at the same time. In this way, it's great for any season. So, so, so well done and so underrated! To anyone on the fence about blind buying, I say go ahead and do it. Though lemon is not a note listed, I smell a slight citrus to it, which elevates it from Glossier You, which is beautiful, no doubt, but is slightly flat. This is definitely more rounded, as it is a cleaner, slightly more floral, slightly more fresh musk - making it into a skin scent, but one that is timeless, feminine, and elegant. It's for the lady that doesn't need an Hermes belt or bag to tell others she is sophisticated and knows what is up, her aura by itself evokes such sophistication, even with simple makeup, and a plain button down.

There seems to be some confusion here with the Skin scent range. For starters, there is no coconut in this. The Summer Splash Sunkissed Skin has coconut though. It has its own page here on fragrantica. There was an EDT version, but that’s been discontinued. I don’t see a page for it here either. There is also the Clean Reserve Skin which also has its own page.. This is from the Classic line and is an eau de parfum. It has been reformulated and has new packaging. A tester I tried did not smell very good with the top notes, so I went with the Clean Reserve Skin formulation. Recently, I caved and tried again and found that this smells just slightly different in the top for a minute or so, but after that, smells just like I remember. That other tester from before must have been bad. So I picked up on this too. I’m thinking I might prefer this to the Reserve formulation. This is a fave. I bought and went through so many bottles of this since it came out in 2012. As long as they still make it, and it smells the same on me, I’ll keep wearing it.

I have easily triggered migraines and have to chose perfumes very carefully. For a long time I never used any perfume at all. Then I found Clean Rain, Air and Skin. And they all work for me. No migraines, no drama. CLEAN Skin is very special to me since white musky scents are just perfect for my skin. It's all about chemistry. I never knew that! The lady in the shop explained it to me. So Skin smells lovely on me from the first moment to the last, and it doesn't change much over the hours. The flowers and the musk is a good mixture, but the musk definitely dominates. I wear it all the year round, at work, at home, in bed. It's discreet and pleasant. I even like the purple colour of the bottle! // Update a few years later: I really love this scent still, it's my "at home" perfume all year round. My skin is obviously perfect for musky scents.

I would like to address a comment in someone’s review “Smells like clean skin. You can achieve the same effect by taking a shower.” Why yes, it’s true you’re could take a shower, but then, how many showers can you take in one day and not dry your skin out? Can you shower while you’re at work or school? That is what this is for. It prolongs that freshly out of the shower smell and can be freshened whenever you feel the need through out the day. No, it’s not meant to be an olfactory work of art. It’s meant to perform one simple task, just to smell clean. You can wear this for work or school and leave the “special” perfume for special occasions or nights out, For those who wear musks very well, people will find this very attractive, sexy even! It’s one of my favorites and very highly recommended for daytime wear all year round.

Omg, this perfume... So incredible. First of all, after testing it for the 12323 (or something) time, I noticed how long it has lasted. It's been around 6 hours now since I sprayed it on my arm and I can still feel the beautiful mixture of... Beauty, haha. It's the perfect mix of musk and flowers, both notes are equally gentle and soft which makes the whole fragrance very light. I don't know how it is on other's skin but I love it on mine & I imagine it being just as nice on others because it's just a gorgeous fragrance. Everything about this perfume is so well-composed. From the bottle's colour to the name... A perfect match. Right now I feel that this fragrance is as near perfection as it possibly could be & I wouldn't change anything about it. I truly appreciate it.

Clean, inoffensive, likeable, a little bit sweet. Doesn't do a lot which is what I love about it. This is the OG skin scent. Smells very similar to the Clean Reserve Skin even though the notes are so different. Prefer this one as it's not as sweet. It's a good layering base as well, it's a staple for me I probably won't ever stop re-purchasing. Also please change the photo, it's the ugly old bottle. Seriously it's ridiculous please change it I'm begging

This is probably one of my favorite scents, if not my favorite, of my LIFE. And I'm very very picky. It's a beautiful, muted scent that doesn't smell like you're really wearing perfume. It just smells like you smell good. It's not overpowering, so it'd be great for someone that works in a close environment with other people. It's light but not airy, it's sexy but doesn't insist upon itself. Very lightly flowery, musky. Nothing overly confusing for the senses or overpowering. This is a good one for people that don't like perfume. I've gone through 3 bottles and the only reason I haven't bought another is because it's so expensive and it just doesn't last. Makes me so sad. But I'll buy it again, for sure.

Crazy cheap clean little musk. I purchased this in a set of five 5 mL rollerballs for $20 from Sephora, and so far, I'm 1 for 1 in terms of home runs from this little set. I'm puzzled at the mentions of melons and aquatic notes, as my admittedly simple nose just gets musk, musk and some more musk. Super intimate sillage, you wear it for yourself and maaaaaybe a partner, but I doubt anyone in your workplace will notice--for better or for worse. Longevity isn't fantastic, but at ~$1/mL, I'm not mad at it. I might like MMM's Bubble Bath more as a bedtime "clean musk" fragrance, but at the vastly different price points, this is a no brainer and an easy reach.

Lovely! It does smell like 'clean skin'... wearing a modest amount of only the *best part* of EL's Pleasures. So, a perfectly clean, warm round, soft skin musk, with a puff of airy peony breezing over the top of it through an open window with white, gauzy curtains... and maybe a *touch* of LOTV for the "clean" factor, but absolutely nothing screechy or sharp. Just soft, serene breezes over warm, clean... skin. Delicious. Must add: Sillage is just as you would want it to be in a scent like this: moderate. A person you hug will get a nice surprise. Longevity, for me, has been great... a couple of hours, so far, with no fade.

Bought a very overpriced mini 1⁄2 oz, perfect for the smallest handbag. I like to keep something easy and subtle through the day and this is really perfect for that. Have used Cleans Ultimate and White Woods for the same purpose but this is better, not exactly big in personality but layers well, smells really good and creamy and reboosts whatever I sprayed on in the morning without upsetting sensitive noses around me. DarlingNikki here below describes the smell really well, I think. I normally go for big bold woodsy scents so this is waaaaay too light but still, handbag worthy ^^

Soft and sweet musk. Smells like when you smell someone you love but they’re not really wearing anything, it’s just the smell of their skin and you love them and so of course it smells wonderful, like fresh out of the shower, like pressing your nose to their neck, like coming home. Appropriate for all seasons. I prefer this version to the Clean Reserve version. The reserve version is much sweeter, much more of a gourmand. This one is more of a skin musk. The notes on the Reserve version are more accurate to what they both smell like, but the original is much much more subtle.

I’ve only smelled the newest classic formulation (clear bottle), so can’t compare to the older version. I love this. Hard to describe, my boyfriend smells melon, but I can’t detect any clear notes. A perfect balance of sweetness, freshness, and warmth, not too much of anything. This makes it elegant to me. Definitely a skin scent, which I like, as many people have scent sensitivities where I live, and I wouldn’t want an everyday fragrance like this to be obvious. However, I can see why some would be frustrated with the strength, as it’s more like a body spray than an edp.

I have Clean Warm Cotton, decided to try this. I love it too! Its like a mix of Jovan White Musk, Davidoff Cool Water, and something powdery, kind of like Love's Baby Soft, but not too sweet or cloying like that. Very light and very pretty... I'm prone to headache/migraine and there are a lot of fragrances I just can't handle glad to say I havent experienced that with the Cleans. There used to be a perfume called moon-something or something-moon that smelled like this years ago, that I'd looked and looked and never been able to find again; so glad I decided to try this.

I got a little rollerball sampler of this, Rain and Warm Cotton at Kohl's. Skin was by far my favorite, it was such a clean, warm, simple scent that lived up to its name without, as I feared, smelling gross. I loved it so much that I had kept the little rollerball in my purse to take with me. Unfortunately, it had leaked and soaked the whole purse, but I'm hoping to get this again someday. Would highly recommend this, it's a very intimate and pure scent, it's like the smell of being freshly-showered, or hugging your best friend who you haven't seen in a long time.
