Amberwood

Holy smokes. Prada luna Rossa black has been my daily wearer for quite some time. I'm on my 4th bottle of it, if that gives you some indication of my affection for this DNA. I also own Bvlgari Black, Midnight in Paris, and Aigner Black - all with similar DNA. I'm pretty intimately familiar with the DNA. This, though...THIS...is NOT Prada Black, as so many other people before me have said. Yes, that "burnt rubber" DNA is there, but this is sooooooo much more. This is a much more complex, much higher quality, much better projecting and lasting version of the DNA. It is amped up in every way possible and exceeds my expectations based on everything I had read here prior to purchase. Of course, like everyone else, I was hesitant to buy Amberwood given the price per ounce. Definitely not a bargain/cheapie, but if you can score it for a significant discount (Jomashop has really great pricing currently, comparatively) it is absolutely worth owning even if you reserve it for special occasions. I get heavy spice in the opening - I swear it's cinnamon, but cinnamon is not in the notes list. Perhaps it's the pink pepper, but I still get cinnamon. The wood notes combined with the oud give me strong TF Oud Wood vibes at times, especially after the drydown. And I also get minty sensations that remind me of JPG Le Male shortly after the opening into the mid. So much going on here, and every bit of it is "like" or "love". Nothing here that I dislike at all besides the price. Honestly, this is a pretty far departure from Prada Black IMO; definitely would not say that if you own Prada Black you shouldn't try Amberwood. Prada is my first love, but this is my side chick. Sillage is insane. I am a heavy sprayer. I'm normally a 15 spray kinda guy with Prada Black and most of my other frags, but 5 or 6 sprays of Amberwood is all I need and it is a monster with that number of sprays. My gym bro said he could smell me before he saw me the other day when I wore it to the gym. I'd say I can understand why most people consider this more of a cooler weather/evening/special occasion scent, but I will 100% wear it anytime regardless of temperature or occasion. It's currently daytime and summer here and I'm wearing it all day. 100% love.

I find this to be an understated, refined and classy woody amber with a soft powdery background and a touch of spice. There’s nothing particularly new or groundbreaking here but it still smells wonderful nonetheless. In fact, I find it quite addictive if you can get over the ridiculous price, although bargains are to be had. I think it’s very balanced, being neither too sweet nor too dry. It has a warmth about it without being sickly sweet as some tobacco and amber fragrances often are. I detect the subtle ambroxan in the background, which I like very much. The powdery background lends a slight softness. Upon my first wearing, several people commented how good I smelt. I feel this leans slightly masculine and is fairly versatile as it’s not heavy or overbearing although it’s probably more suited to winter and autumn evenings. I don’t have any problems with performance. It’s fairly subtle but still noticeable and it lasts me all day long. I’m not sure I could justify full asking price for this, even though I love it but I got a bottle with a good discount and it’s fast becoming one of my favourites. As with all CC fragrances, the presentation is wonderful too.

Say what you want about the brand being overpriced (I agree) but this is one of the better amber fragrances I've smelled. Full disclosure, I'm mostly apathetic to amber in general as it's never really interested me much. This one ( along with Coromandel and Grand Soir) I would wear regularly in the cooler weather. It smells rich but not sweet. The tobacco is a player and is the refined kind like you'd find in something like Herod. No raw funk whatsoever like in Tobacco Out or Tauer Sundowner. It's fairly linear, but the vanilla and light brown sugar open up on my skin. They did an excellent job blending and masking the ambroxan. You almost can't smell it, but if you put your nose up close and focus you can detect it. The whole thing smells like it's been lightly caramelized in a way. Great release. Downside: performance kinda sucks. You have to overspray for projection and it disappears on my skin quickly. Scent 7.6/10 Performance 4/10

This is one of the best amber scents ive ever smelled and ive smelled many, i tried mixing not a perfume with rivre d'ambre , nope. tried grand soir. nope. this amberwood scents is in a league of its own, its beautifully creamy and excellently blended. ive managed to find it on discount in the Netherlands and am sure its on discount in other shops in Europe so keep an eye out for the discounts as the full bottle will make your wallet feel suicidal! Overall i got at least 10 compliments (I'm not after those, I'm complimenting the perfume and that's all i need) on first wearing. It lasts a long time but your nose can go blind to it. 10/10 is and understatement, its a solid Blonde Amber is the boozy version of this, I'm not into boozy scents but if you guys are check that one out as well This really smells like Amouage - Material

SCENT: A king's Prada Luna Rossa Black LONGEVITY/PERFORMANCE: Lasts about 10 hours and has a very subtle but noticeable sillage OCCASIONS: I use it as a cool-weather signature, but it can just be for special occasions. RATING: 10/10 I've always been a big fan of Luna Rossa Black. I always use it on dates and what not, but as a frag head, there was something missing from it to be my signature. With Amberwood, Clive Christian takes the Luna Rossa Black DNA, and makes it so much more rich, complex, and better performing using better quality ingredients and additional notes, such as tobacco. I get that the retail price is a problem, but when you can get this for $250 off discounters, this fragrance is worth every penny.

Wow! Received a sample today and it is amazing. I am not skilled in the arts of describing notes and will not pretend to be. Instead I will simply say it has such a great depth to it. To me it is masculine for sure. Although Amber is not listed here in the notes, I have smelt it before and in this it has a beautiful creamyness when mixed with the wood. This is how a well groomed guy should smell. Definitely one for the colder months. Roll on Winter I say!

I wore this for the first time today. I left work to walk up the street, and walked past two ladies coming the other way. I heard one say to the other’did you smell him?’ To which the other replied’ Bloody hell, and I thought I smelt good’. That’s how good this stuff is. It smells rich and luxurious. And just whispers solid confidence. Love it

This one is way better then overhyped blond amber, much smother more wearable, more projection,,longevity true hidden gem and its not similar to prada black at all this one is way higher quality then scratchy and synthetic prada

I liked this better than blonde amber. It just has a better opening and dry down in my opinion. Longevity is pretty decent as well. Highly underrated.

A very nice smokey amber fragrance. Ideal for cooler temperatures / nighttime. Nothing extremely groundbreaking, but good nonetheless.

This is really nice, but like most Clive Christians I've tried, there's nothing really outstanding about it. Amberwood is exceptionally similar to Givenchy's Gentleman Boisée to my nose, it's a musky and powdery woods-based scent that smells gentlemanly and is also quite likeable. Despite the enormous price gap between the Givenchy and this, the difference in quality and performance is basically nonexistent, which I know is a strong statement. Amberwood is a linear scent, it opens up with the aforementioned musky, powdery, woody scent, there's perhaps a hint of tobacco-like herbal/earthiness, which then dries down to a very powdery and musky scent that smells (to me at least) quite similar to a neutral skin odor, just with the addition of a buttery quality, most likely from the orris, that I'm not a fan of. This skin scent comes up about 4 hours into the wear and remains like that for the rest of the fragrance's duration on skin. I would have loved if the tobacco was more prominent and if there was real oud here, or at least a prominent oud accord, they would have made this a more interesting scent overall. I see there's a large amount of people saying Amberwood is similar to Prada's Luna Rossa Black, but I haven't tried that yet, I'll have to find a tester in store to see if they are similar. UPDATE: Amberwood's dry down smells identical to Luna Rossa Black, so Amberwood is essentially Gentleman Boisée in the opening and Luna Rossa Black in the dry down, for double the price of the Givenchy and the Prada put together. Performance was really good overall. Projection was moderate to strong and sillage was dense without being overwhelming. Amberwood projected for around 4 hours before becoming a skin scent, which is way above average from my experience. Longevity was great, it reached 8 hours with ease and even now, 22 hours later, there's still a small trace of it in my arm. Considering how well this performs, I'd say it's the only Clive Christian that would be worth picking up from a performance standpoint, obviously for discounter prices.

Prime example of always test on skin . I could’ve bought it as soon as I sprayed on paper, the warm and cozy yet subtle and classy amber with a strong woody and spicy backbone pretty much perfection to me, but on me I mostly get the burnt rubber smell and then get the clean musky amber every now and again, it’s very nice still but just isn’t something that I would come back to. The Luna Rosa Black comparison is definitely there but they’re not clones in the slightest but are definitely in the same type of clean powdery amber but Prada leans wayyyyyyyyyy more into the powder and musk especially the ambrette heavy drydown while Clive Christian adds more of an ambery and spicy touch. I never really cared for those parts about LRB very much and barely wear it anymore and feel that Amberwood is an improvement in all of the areas I would want but still feels very overpriced for what it is, I would say they’re about 70% similar to each other but don’t really love this stuff to get it when I have a slightly similar alternative there’s way better things out there to be discovered

Had a free sample from most recent purchase... Initially oh that's very nice, but it reminds me of something... What is it... Check on here to jog memory. THATS IT! bloody Luna Rosa black by Prada. So similar. If anything, worse performing. No way is it worth the money they want for it. It's not a bad smelling perfume but you may as well just get LRB.

Very dry and woody. No sweetness, no resin-y base, and does not come close to bordering into gourmand territory... something I've noticed a lot of other woody fragrances do. It is strong, confident, and knows what it wants. Wear this if that is what you are, or what you want to be. Amazing fragrance but perhaps a bit too immobile and stiff for me

Amberwood.....This is a LIKE for me, defintiely not a love. It's an easy fragrance to pull off and suitable in any environment (work or casual). I wear it and enjoy wearing it. It's just the price...so expensive. If it were cheaper I'd probably rate it higher. I just can't love a fragrance that costs this much to be "fine". 7.2/10

VERY similar to Prada Black. This is slightly more spicy whereas PB is sweeter and softer. Sure, this is slightly higher quality but I think Prada Black smells better overall. Do not recommend unless you can get it sub $200. This is literally a PB clone for $500

Man, I wanted to like this so bad. This was my first foray into high-end fragrances and maybe I set my expectations too high. Part of it is also that I just find the marketing, scent profile, and description of this fragrance to be pretty misleading. It’s not a bad fragrance by any means; just not at all what I was expecting. That being said, it’s not particularly “great” either. My most generous take is that it smells “fine” or “interesting”. You’re not going to upset anybody by wearing it but you’re not going to wow anybody either. And if you’re paying several hundred dollars for a single fragrance, you better be fucking wow-ing people in my opinion. Most of my collection is sub-$100 and I find that almost all of them are more exciting and enjoyable to smell throughout the day. But as to the specifics of this fragrance: It’s much more of a citrus, aromatic/herbal, fresh scent with a bit of sweetness in the background. Part of my disappointment with this fragrance is that I was under the impression it would be much more of a woodsy, warm, amber-y winter fragrance. you know; like the name, bottle design, marketing, and scent profile seems to suggest? It was quite a shock to say the least. After a couple days of wearing it I’ve come to appreciate it more, but again; it was not the scent I wanted or was looking for in the slightest and even if it was, it doesn’t come close to justifying its price point. In terms of performance it was pretty good, but nothing to write home about. On the longer end of moderate in terms of longevity and projection/sillage. In conclusion. Does it smell good? Yes. Does it smell amazing? No. Is it well-blended? Yes, it’s certainly high-quality and interesting smelling. Is it worth the price? Not even close. And definitely not a blind buy (although I guess that is an obvious statement for ANY fragrance even close to this price. Shame on me)

Amberwood is interesting, I’m having trouble deciding whether I like it or not. One things for sure though, Clive Christian are taking the piss with the price for a scent like this. It’s almost painfully boring, annoyingly simple and a little scratchy at that too. With a name like Amberwood, you’d be just as surprised as I was to smell no relevance to Amber whatsoever. It’s a sort of aromatic woody scent, with an overwhelming synthetic muskiness blanketing over everything. Sage sticks out to me, with its dry, slightly green qualities complimenting the array of synthetic musks and woods fairly well. To be honest it does smell pleasant, but it also smells cheap. I had a similar issue with Rock Rose, for a £500 fragrance you want to smell like royalty, where as this will have you smelling like Superdrug instead. Why would they market such a cheap and basic smelling scent as luxury? We may never know.

It is a nice scent but not super distinct: the powdery notes come through too strongly and remained emphasized throughout wearing. It smells rather generic like many other women's perfumes, certainly of higher quality but not enough to justify the price tag. I didn't personally feel this had issues with bad performance like others have mentioned--in fact this lasted a good 6+ hours but I had to wash it off as this scent is very feminine to my nose and I just couldn't do it anymore as it smelled like older female relatives of mine. I prefer masculine scents and this wasn't it. I wholly agree with "PeppaJackLoveFragsALot's" review.

Incredible opening with the highest quality ingredients imaginable. Get the woody Tonka uniqueness, it's like a redo of pretty much every note liated, of what I thought I know, so: perfect Bergamot, balmy Sage and minty purple florals with the smooth Tobacco in the bground, this is noble all purpose. Think a redid, reinvented sheer Lavander accord, probably not even in there, but built from the exact quality needed out of the other natural florals. Got the Musk and Vanilla approach in the ancient soul aspect to it as well, like opposite to Incense resins smoke. Mature unisex, nondry, nonpowdery, out of this world dry down, it's must try because it'll bring home so well. Very much pleased with the purchase.

Amberwood – Understated Brilliance Revealed in Time At first spray, Amberwood may seem almost too quiet—restrained, even forgettable. But give it time, and it reveals its true nature. It doesn’t shout—it evolves. This is a fragrance built on subtlety and structure. It wears like tailored cashmere: comforting, elegant, and unassuming, yet undeniably high in quality. An 8/10 for me. It may not dazzle at first glance, but patience brings reward.

I don’t know why anyone would be paying this much for this fragrance . To begin with the opening is very strong and overwhelming, i don’t know what it is tobacco, vanilla or whatever then it slowly settles down . To me it smells like something i have smelled before and i am familiar with and that alone makes me believe i shouldn’t pay the whole price tag for this. There is nothing exceptional or impressive about it, u can just call it another nice fragrance which will probably get u compliments that’s all and pretty many frags can do that honestly.

This reminds me of FM Uncut Gem. Might be the amberwood dominance and supporting notes. I didn’t like both of them when I first tried but after some time I’ve come to appreciate both of them. I had to control my sprays with this frag but I I think it’s a great scent to wear to work or socialising for someone who’s got their s#%t together. Performance is huge. (I’m unfamiliar with Luna Rossa black). Edit: I’ve started to control my sprays and I’ll enjoying it a lot more. Starting to like it. Got a huge compliment with it.

Prada black 2.0 well done guys. Smells like a slightly more refined Prada black. It's a nice fragrance but absolutely no way worth £490 that is insane. Also that's for a 50ml! I'll be fair and say at £130 ish it's worth it. I thought creed were taking the p**s with their prices but this lot take the crown. Maybe that's what the crown is for on the bottles....royal p**s takers! Don't get me started on blonde amber....

A beautifully blended amber scent that draws you in with its close to the skin bewitching charm. It is a richly seductive long lasting experience -- as it should be for the pricetag. Props to CC for having the unwavering confidence to ask - and get - what it believes it is worth! Personally we should all do the same..perhaps wearing this fragrance will embolden us right along with it!

Warm, Sensual, Gentlemanly, and delightful. A smooth and sweet amber, accentuated by tobacco and masculinized with woods. Very inviting and romantic. Perfect for winter or cool fall evenings. Excellent sillage for the first few hours, then calms down a bit, overall the performance is moderate. I would reapply on hour 5 if you haven’t taken someone to bed by then.

it has been years since ive tried luna rossa black but as far as i remember it was dominantly powdery, this is not, has some wood funk to it that is really lovable (just like in ysl y edp but instead of ambergris and aldehydes this creates the funk with aromatics and wood). definitely smells luxurious without being annoying unlike some. really well done

Wow the reviews and smells like section really weren't wrong this time, it definitely does smell like luna rossa black just more complexity to it. Wouldn't say it's better though, but since luna rossa black is discontinued it doesn't really matter if it's better it's the only alternative that smells really close to

Very nice aromatic ambery with fresh powdery soapy almost but dry down is so close to prada luna rossa black I wear Prada black quite often and love it so i loved this one as well but I feel not worth nothing mg new or niche about it get prada instead. Performance is also equal to prada

Woody tonka... This is all about tonka, woods, and tobacco ashes! then comes balanced doses of cashmiran, angelica, thyme, orris, musk, & amber. When i saw the price tag, i just couldn't believe my eyes! $500+ for this blend! no offense, but i wouldn't get it for 60$.

Opens calm citrus vanilla musk after which sets off the finest sage tonka amber creamy woods. Has the literal all times feel to it, so from ancient royal social practices to still can't beat it today, cruelly shutting down any scenario.

Cool spices and a very soapy and masculine amber. Lasts maybe 2 hours and then dries down onto a very faint skin scent of powdery amber and vanilla. Very modern. Performance is awful

This smells good! I keep smelling myself. Top quality wood fragrance. I think this is bottle worthy. I feel good wearing this! Subtle not loud, and I like that.

This is really good. 95% similar to Prada Black but this has more musks and bite to it.

Buying from this brand is just a waste of money.
