Timeless

I've never had a fragrance be so wildly different as time goes on. This might just be better than Contemporary. Next Clive Christian I'm trying is Timeless, and what an interesting fragrance this is. This goes through 4 phases where it smells completely different, which makes it the most unique fragrance I've tried as no other fragrance I've tried so far changes anywhere near as much as this. On the opening you get bright lemon with a touch of orange and ginger rounding out the scent. Shortly afterwards this becomes a fougère-like scent, having a strong aromatic lavender scent with nutmeg and vetiver that smells classic and gentlemanly, but not in the slightest bit outdated. After another while the lavender is gone, the nutmeg note gets amped up a lot and is supported by an earthy, almost ashy vetiver. I'm not a fan of this phase and it reminds me a lot of Contemporary during this section, but it's still a good scent overall. Finally, after about 2 hours since spraying the scent settles down and becomes a sweet, musky and slightly powdery scent for the remainder of the fragrance's "life cycle". These first three phases occur in the span of two hours, and I'm still truly perplexed by this behaviour. I have no idea if it was some sort of wild reaction with my skin but I'm guessing it had to be, I don't think it's possible to make a fragrance do things like this on purpose. I'll definitely have to come back to this as soon as I'm done with my Clive Christian exploration season to see if this behaviour is repeated (I'll update at the bottom of this review). Performance was basically the exact same as Contemporary. Projection and sillage were both moderate and longevity has been great, it's still easily detectable on skin after 8 hours. Clive Christian definitely did an extraordinary job with their 150th Anniversary collection, this makes me really excited to continue with my testing.

Review: Timeless by Clive Christian Timeless opens with a sparkling citrus burst that stays with you until the very end. Beneath this citrus brilliance lies a warm, woody character that sits close to the skin. While I rarely have issues with a fragrance lacking projection, in this case, the woody warmth is much softer than the vibrant citrus, which takes center stage. The scent lasts a long time on the skin. I also tested it on clothing — there were no major changes, except that the residue lingers even longer, but at that point, it’s not quite the same scent I’d want to wear. Overall, it feels high-quality and luxurious. I was lucky enough to buy a partial bottle in its original packaging, but I don’t plan on purchasing a full bottle. In this price segment, I personally find Roja Burlington far more interesting and captivating.

Wow Wow Wow I simply cannot state how much I love this fragrance. As such my review is probably a little biased. Absolute lovely opening of smooth ginger and bitter orange with undertones of mint. As it dries down the spices, lavender and woody accords become the main focal point of the scent profile while the citruses still are ever so slightly there. Super masculine if you ask me. The absolute perfect fragrance for any guy looking to smell super unique during the summer. The elefant in the room however has to enormous price that come along with the greatness that is this fragrance. I personally was able to pick it up for 50% off at a local retailer and if I wasn't I would struggle seeing myself spending the amount that this fragrance usually retails for. If however the budget isn't a problem I strongly advise you to try this.

Tested this and Contemporary at Bergman Goodorf in NYC: firstly one of the most helpful, knowledgable and friendly staff members ever dealing with me. I was torn between them, but walked away with a full bottle of this and a tester bottle of Contemporary. Its not totally original; nor is it weird, arresting or different. It's interesting, comfortable and easy to wear. Lasts a long while. Glad I have a bottle.

I’m obsessed with this. I’m not always a huge fan of cologne fragrances but this is incredible. A bright fresh clean top as you’d expect but it manages to smell and feel natural despite enduring forever - as it dries down it becomes a sweet vetiver that just smells great. Very expensive but if money not a concern then buy it. It’s beautiful.

Absolutely the most signature scent worthy fragrance I have tried. No individual note stands out because it's all blended so seamless. It's citrusy musk that lasts 2 days on clothes and about 6 hours on skin and then becomes a skin scent. Projection is within a hug zone and is safe for ANY situation.

This is just a master-piece. It reminds me a bit of LV Cactus Garden, but a more luxurious with a bit more citrus and depth to it. It’s just so addicting to smell, and have to be easily top 3 best freshies I’ve ever smelt, even though you can wear this all year around imo. Yeah it’s just a 10/10.

Gorgeous green scent Really does evoke summer evenings when wearing this, phenomenal juicy green fougere and worth the money for sure. Quite similar to Lavender Palm by Tom Ford. Perfect from May onwards.

Classic green fougere type of scent which has multiple facets throughout it’s life span on the skin. Starts green clean bright and turns into this well balanced sweet fresh profile. Love it!

The best citrus fragrance I smelled. It's just citrus, it's hard for me to smell other notes, but the citruses are absolute perfection! The performance is good as well

Very classy citrusy and lavander scent, absolute obssesion

Moving out of the house of Amouage and back into the house of Clive Christian marks a clear shift in tone. Where Amouage often embraces density and resinous intensity, Clive Christian tends to approach composition with polish and classical structure. With Timeless, the name alone suggests restraint, balance, and enduring elegance rather than modern excess. On paper, the construction reads as a bright aromatic opening laid over a traditional masculine foundation of woods and leather. Expectations here are not centered on shock or darkness, but on refinement and compositional control. Let’s see whether Timeless truly earns its name once it settles onto skin. Opening: The opening is citrusy, aromatic, and distinctly green. The primary notes I get are lime, bitter orange, mint, and lavender, with lime and bitter orange clearly leading the composition. The lime arrives first with a bright, sharp burst of citrus that feels crisp and invigorating, carrying a clean acidity that immediately lifts the structure. Bitter orange follows with a sweeter, juicier citrus tone, rounded by a subtle rindy bitterness that adds texture and depth rather than pure brightness. Together, they create a layered citrus accord that feels both vibrant and refined. Mint moves in behind the citrus with a fresh, green clarity that recalls the style of the mint in Torino21, adding a cool aromatic snap without overwhelming the composition. Lavender rounds out the opening with aromatic, powdery barbershop undertones reminiscent of Masculin Pluriel, introducing a classic masculine structure that stabilizes the freshness. In the background, ginger contributes an effervescent, lightly sparkling spice, similar in tone to fragrances such as Tygar or Vibrato, adding subtle energy and lift without disrupting the balance. Together, the opening feels lively, polished, and well-blended. Dry Down: The dry down is aromatic, woody, and ambery. The primary notes I get are lavender, vetiver, amber, and nutmeg, with lavender and vetiver shaping the structure. Lavender carries forward the same powdery, aromatic barbershop character from the opening, though here it feels softer and more pronounced in its powdery facets, giving the composition a refined, almost tailored finish. Vetiver anchors the base with a dry, woody presence, introducing smoky and faintly grassy undertones reminiscent of the vetiver in Elysium that add structure without heaviness, keeping the fragrance grounded and masculine. Amber emerges beneath the woods with a glowing, balsamic warmth that feels smooth and cohesive rather than syrupy, adding depth and subtle radiance to the composition. Lastly, nutmeg threads through the background with a gentle, warm spice, enhancing the aromatic character without becoming sharp or intrusive. Together, the dry down settles into a classic, composed profile that feels polished and enduring rather than dramatic. Performance: Timeless opens with confident strength. During the first hour, projection is assertive, extending roughly six feet from the skin and making its presence clearly known without crossing into harshness. The sillage is equally commanding, leaving a polished and noticeable trail that lingers in the air behind you. After a few hours into the wear, projection continues to hover around that six foot radius, while the scent trail softens slightly yet remains easily detectable. However, by the seventh hour, both projection and sillage fall away entirely, leaving the fragrance sitting close to the skin. In practical terms, this translates to a total effective lifespan of around five to six hours, which feels somewhat underwhelming given the elevated price point. When to Wear: Timeless carries itself with a sense of classic masculinity that feels composed, tailored, and effortlessly put together. Its aromatic fougere backbone allows it to move fluidly through all seasons, adapting to warmth and cool air alike without losing its character. It feels equally appropriate with a pressed suit, a crisp button down, or something more relaxed but intentional. Office environments are well within its comfort zone, as it projects with confidence while maintaining refinement. It also transitions seamlessly into formal settings and special occasions, where its traditional structure feels right at home. Few fragrances balance versatility and character this well, making Timeless a true all around performer in terms of wearability. Blind Buy: If you are already drawn to the aromatic fougere DNA, particularly that clean lavender driven barbershop style, Timeless will feel immediately familiar and comfortably within your taste profile. It delivers exactly what that genre promises: freshness, structure, and masculine polish. However, it is important to temper expectations regarding sheer power. This is not a beast mode fragrance designed to dominate a room for twelve hours straight. It favors elegance over intensity. Given the elevated price point, sampling first is still the wiser move unless you are fully confident that this style of scent aligns with what you reach for most often. Final Verdict: Timeless is a beautifully executed take on a classic masculine structure, and on skin it genuinely resonated with me. The citrus, aromatics, and refined backbone come together in a way that feels dignified and assured rather than dated. That said, the overall experience is not without complication. Longevity falls short of what I would expect at this price level, and there is noticeable stylistic overlap with Masculin Pluriel in my collection, which makes it difficult to justify redundancy. When combined with the extremely high cost of entry, the value proposition becomes harder to defend. While I truly appreciate the scent profile itself, it ultimately stops short of earning a place in my collection. Scent: 10/10 Longevity: 6/10 Sillage: 9/10 Versatility: Very High Compliment Factor: High Gender: Masculine Value: Way overpriced

Opening is extremely similar to 1872. One I sprayed timeless, I had to spray my 1872 on the opposite wrist just to make sure I hadn’t been bamboozled! Once the dry downs begin, the changes begin. The lavender and some warmness from the coriander and nutmeg begin shining through in the initial dry down alongside the citruses. This is where you can begin to tell it’s not 1872. Finally, after a few hours, you’re left with the base notes. A very well blended mix of musk, vetiver and amber. The leather is very subtle and present but it is merely as noticeable. Clive’s fragrances are all symphony’s. A tabernacle of a fragrance house. Can be worn after sun down because of the base notes.

It starts off very similarly to the original 1872, with a sharp floral, neroli-driven profile. As it develops, it begins to resemble a classic men’s lavender fragrance. I can see the comparisons to Viking Cologne and Roja’s Harrods Pour Homme. It’s in that vein of fragrance, yet remains unique and unmistakably a flanker to 1872 for Men.

Straightforward and pleasant minty lime with hints of lavender, uplifting and easy to wear any time any year I think even on a cold day, I just didn’t end up loving the stuff, one of the best CC’s

A modern take on an old school masculine fragrance. Very citrusy opening and then I get lots of spice and nutmeg on the dry down. Way too mature smelling for me. I sprayed this one time on my arm and I could still smell it 18 hours later.

I enjoyed this from start to finish! I don't really go for this house but glad I took a chance on it. I find this to be a mint based scent more than anything else. This does have it's role players like lime, coriander, vetiver underneath but it's blended very well that you won't be able to really get an isolation effect. To me, this is one of the advantages of this fragrance since mint is not an easy note to configure in a concoction. This is like a forest that pays hommage to any plant matter that is a member of the mint family. This gets progressively sweeter as it gets to the drydown but that's another + for me. I don't even think this is overtly mature. There is a playfulness about it. Performance is great as well!

This one is really good. Coming into it, I was expecting more of a resemblance to 1872, based on many of the reviews. This one, however, isn't a direct sibling, but more like a relative. Take 1872's bright florals out and replace them with a strong, sturdy green backbone, almost sparkling. The mint is really apparent, which gives it a very herbal, fizzy tone, but it isn't overly done, nor does it come off as a toothpaste-like mint. This is a lovely modern green fragrance from CC. If 1872 is the rich CEO, then Timeless is the rich stepson who is going to take over the company when the CEO retires.

Think somewhat close to 1872, complete redo, fresh warm green, bit bitter citrus opening that stays, turns a notch more bitter 15 mins in. Clive DNA signature all over the place. Perfect Ginger, get a different Vetiver. Coriander, Mint amongst the Ginger, 3 particular deal breaker notes to me haha, form an impressive accord in this situation. Incredibly smooth, futuristic freshness, cozy, solid warm green kingly scent. Pretty distinct phases, doesn't let up nowhere and 40 mins in once it's settled it's a strate up movie.

like it says - timeless. This stuff is beautiful. Opens up a tad sharp, minty. But then it settles into this beautiful lavender at the heart that is surrounded by some nuances of sweetness and aromatics. This surprised me. Really well done by CC. Hoping I can score a bottle sometime soon. Performance around 6 hr.

Flavourful citrus, again perfect both old and avant-garde, caliber effervescent freshness, can't get enough of the one way layers, trace of ginger, stays so sharp. Kologne shield of protection type opening and then braids into one weave lively aromatic, two weaves crisp bitter zesty.

Clive Christian fragrances have my heart, another aromatic green scent which I can never say no to. It's fresh and neat, the opening is love, however after drying down, it becomes sweet and gets sweeter with every passing minute. Can someone recommend any solution to this?

For anyone buying this beautiful fragrance, the lion on the bottle should be positioned stage right - and not left as in the main image used by Fragrantica. Contemporary is the other half of the double act and has its lion positioned stage left.

Gorgeous! Smells like a mature grown man, that’s where he wants to be in life. No screaming look at me I’ve arrived. Not for the 20 and I’ll even say the 30 year olds. 40 and up successfull that’s made his fortune

Initially i’m reminded of Roja Oligarch Parfum, or the same profile of terre d hermes. For that reason, this one did not stand out to me as much as its counterpart, but still a nice fragrance. Did not test on skin

Smells very similar to creed viking cologne, almost 80% the same. Smells okay but definitely not worth the money. Has a very old school vibe. Was hoping for something different. Im probably going to return it.

This is perfume mastery. Green, sweet, somehow cooling. It hits right where it needs to. I’d consider this more of a fougere than anything else. It’s what I would imagine a lush forest to smell of.

It’s a very uplifting gorgeous citrusy aquatic with an amazing mojito vibe. Perfect for summer even good for all year around. Longevity is 7-8 hours on skin and 12 hours on clothes.

You can't release a perfume named Timeless and then discontinue it. That's a contradiction & against the law. Something this good should truly stay relevant forever.

I don't know if it is good or not because I barely can smell anything... This brand has a lot of confidence to sell such crap for such high price.

Would either of you consider decanting this one?
