XX Art Nouveau Water Lily

Water Lily XX Art Nouveau Collection Female leaning I have been sleeping outside in the tent in our garden like I used to do in the summertime when I was a kid and a teenager. I wake up early in the morning and I open the zipper. It never gets dark during the Finnish summer and the sun is rising 04 in the middle of the night. I barely can’t keep my eyes open because it’s so bright. I’m walking on the dewy grass barefooted and I’m going to pick up wild flowers for my mum like almost every night. The air is fresh and there is a lot of humidity, the scent of the dewy meadow and flowers is wafting around me. The fog hovers over the fields and sea. There is something magical and a fairytale like being awake in that beautiful scene when everyone else is sleeping. 💐🌸 That feeling I get while wearing Water Lily 🌺🧚🏽♀️ Water Lily is a delicate, beautiful scent with a fresh and uplifting top of aldehydes and green notes. Aldehydes bring life to this scent like the bubbles in the sparkling water. Inviting and exquisite floral heart with Water Lily brings that fresh and soft aquatic feeling while Tuberose brings a hint of sweetness and makes this perfume quite addictive. The mix of the top and middle notes (there is Heliotrope and Iris as well but for me those are not separable) fall wistfully into a soft musky complexity in its base, with a hint of mysterious patchouli and vetiver. Simply poignant, poetic, sublime. A fresh,sparkling and joyful opening... What a beauty, a rare and sentimental perfume. This perfume is poetry in a bottle. An effervescent, like a champagne. A perfume with a noble soul. Love it!💛 🦋 Sillage: 9./10 Longevity: 9./10 Scent: 9./10 Overall: 9./10

The Fragrantica notes are wrong (as of December 2018) for Water Lily, so until it is fixed, here are the correct notes: Top: Aldehydes and Green leaves, Heart: Orris Base: Patchouli and Vetiver The notes listed in Fragrantica are for the perfume: Vanilla Orchid by Clive Christian, not Water Lily. My review is for Water Lily. This smells divine. No reason to sniff your arm. The scent becomes a sensuous cloud around you, and different notes pop out at different times (i also smell tuberose and heliotrope, although not listed in main notes), all the while combined nicely to hug the air around you. Water Lily also combines well with Papyrus by Clive Christian. What I like to do is spray (not necessarily layering on the same spot, however) Papyrus on the bottom of my arm and Water Lily on the top of my arm. I had a mild headache this morning, and I always skip perfume during these times. I don't know why, but not wanting to skip a scent today, I sprayed this on. I must mention that any time I feel a headache coming, it is a guarantee that any perfume will make it worse. My headache is gone. Water Lily feels more like a walk in nature than it does a sprayed-on fragrance. For those of you who are afraid that this means it will be too weak of a scent, or that it will be too nature-like, don't worry: This is not weak. This smells like nature ENHANCED and put in a bottle for later use. The scent is there for sure and lasts a very long period of time; it simply does not smell like a perfume, that's all. This is lovely but smells like my grandmother. Not as in "smells like old lady" but instead, literally smells like what I remember sitting next to her smelling like. Disconcerting enough that once I placed it, I didn't want to be wearing this anymore. Other than that, it has the interesting trait that all the Clive Christians I've tried have had - it smells drastically different in the air around me than it does if I smell my wrist or clothes. In the air, mostly green and some sort of floral that makes me think of little flowers. Not the most helpful description, I know. But on my skin it is a distinct iris powder over a thick sandalwood. Maybe a thick iris over a powdery sandalwood. I can't decide. Decent longevity, even with dry skin on a cold day, but nothing crazy. I stop being able to smell it after about four hours but if I take off my jacket and then put it back on it reminds my nose to start noticing it again so I think it's me becoming anosmatic to the scent, not any lack on the fragrance's part.

This juice is quite expensive at retail price for 50ml, however, it is apparently 25% concentration. But Holy Moly! This stuff is exquisite. It definitely does become an ever-so present cloud around you for the entirety of the day. And what a cloud it is! It smells airy, light, comforting, smooth, floral and green. Amazing smell and performance (but not crazy beast mode). Definitely worth buying a full bottle if one can find it for a discounted price (maybe wholesale online) or if one can simply afford it. Will be looking out for this one for sure. Highly recommend trying it if you get the chance, especially if you are into florals, aldehydes and iris. Overall an excellent concoction, 9/10.
