Infusion Assam

This brand has a kind of minimalist aesthetic, at least most of their creations are sparse on notes, transparent and synthetically clean; A bit like Jo Malone, but more pristine and clinical -I don't mean that in a bad way at all, rather I find them quite smart and stylish. "Infusion Assam" however, is too minimalist for its own good. The scent is comprised mostly around one 'woodsy' molecule that I appear to be anosmic to, possibly Iso-E Super and a light airy hedione. It smells less like a finished perfume and more like a carrier musk; a barely perceptible dry, clean, papery smell that doesn't remind me of assam tea whatsoever. I'm quite surprised at the price. So much for so little.

I got a set of samples from Cloon Keen Atelier as I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and explore a bit. This one is lovely- I drink a lot of Earl Grey tea and it very definitely reminds me of that. The opening is bright bergamot, it's very light and refreshing with a slight smokiness underlying it. It dries down to a very soft creaminess, possibly the tonka? I don't really get a wooody note on me. It quite simple, and as Arabian Night says, it's minimalistic. Unfortunately it is a very fleeting scent, it lasted about 40 minutes on me. Nice, pleasant, well behaved and pretty, but uncomplicated.

Infusion Assam opens with fresh and intense citruses like Bergamot, mandarin orange, and pomelo. Some sweetness is given by patchouli, vanilla, Toulu Balsam,tonka bean, and licorice. As the perfume progresses the sweetness becomes more refined and the dryness of the tea begins to blend. Masterfully blended, first quality ingredients, balanced, original, day or night time, unisex, modern, and timeless. It reminds me of 2 perfumes Laetitia Millesime Rance 1795 and M by Marcel Marongiu Oriflame.
