Humidors of Perception

The first tobacco fragrance to impress me enough to join my collection. So multifaceted! And man is this concoction strong. Just a few sprays is all you’ll need in order to immerse yourself in a satisfying cloud of scent all day. Be mindful with the trigger; it’s easy to underestimate this fragrance’s power and overspray. Green and floral notes intermingle with a dark chocolate that pulls more pleasantly bitter than sweet/gourmand on my skin. Dry, hazy tobacco and a smooth leather accord do a lot of the heavy lifting. Close to the skin, I perceive the floral notes — more so stems of flowers as opposed to the blooms themselves. The tobacco, chocolate, and leather are loudest in the scent bubble projecting off me. There’s a nondescript fruity whisper around the edges; I find it hard to pin down which fruit(s) I detect, but I’ve settled on plum or some similar stone fruit. The fragrance is linear and does not shift much over time. It’s giving dark academia, reading by candlelight in a velvet armchair, and/or the strong, silent type. I wore this to a wedding and received compliments. It’s very unique and memorable. The bottle is sleek, heavy, and pleasing to the eye.

The opening took me by surprise—it’s fresher than expected. The dark chocolate is rich yet green, almost like fruits dipped in chocolate resting in a forest clearing surrounded by flowers. On my skin, the leather is fleeting and the tobacco stays in the background. I imagined this much darker given the notes, but instead it feels airy enough to wear in spring, perhaps even early summer. Still, it shines best in fall and winter, with just enough warmth and depth to fit the season without ever becoming too heavy. Unique and unexpected—definitely unlike anything I’ve smelled before.
