Comme des Garcons Series 5 Sherbet: Cinnamon

HAPPY IN A BOTTLE. This is a nice scent.. more complex than the name suggests. A dry cinnamon very much in the back seat, tying the elements together, with an exceptionally 'clean', slightly styrax-y dry-down. A well thought-out fragrance, although it will not be to everyone's taste.

I really enjoy this fragrance. I've tried the vast majority of the Comme Des Garçons fragrance line and I've yet to come across one that I don't like. My favourite thing about this is that it's not a festive cinnamon scent. I've had a tough time finding a cinnamon based fragrance that I'd feel comfortable wearing because cinnamon tends to remind me of those limited edition "cinnamon and spiced apple" candles and air fresheners that come out during the holiday season. Although I usually like those smells, it's nothing something I'd really want to wear on my skin. This cinnamon fragrance mostly revolves around cinnamon, saffron and a clean, slightly soapy musk. I actually think this is a cinnamon fragrance that can be worn during warmer seasons. It doesn't develop much on the skin, but it lasts a good six to eight hours on me. It's also quite noticeable in terms of projection and I've received compliments on it. This is my favourite in the CDG Sherbet series and it's undoubtedly unisex. I actually wish this came in a larger bottle than 30ml. Since it's incredibly easy to reach for this and it's a great, unique casual scent. Comme Des Garçons, a 100ml bottle of this would be nice :)

Despite the fact that this Sherbet is to cinnamon as jumping on your bed is to beeing an astronaut, this is a nice scent. A tiny dose of "cannelle" on a HUGE amount of white musk. Fresh but not too generic, with an acceptable sillage and a 3-4 hours lasting power. The budget for this composition was supposed to be very low. What saves Sherbet Cinnamon from precipice is Mr.Duchafour's mastery to make of a puerile composition, a very wearable fragrance. Thumbs up for the perfumeur's ability, thumbs neutral for the smell. Rating: 6-6.5/10

I had a decant of this fragrance. Although the smell from the container was very inviting - sweet and warm spicy - the test on my skin was not so delightful. Very synthetic smell, that's what disturbed me most through all our olfactory journey with Cinnamon Sherbet, which fortunately didn't last long. All the time there was something sweet and sour (cinnamon and bergamot, i guess), which unfortunately didn't make the best couple here. Also, I smelled something like laundry detergent. Not very pleasant. I was wondering what could make that impression on me and got to one conclusion - maybe saffron? Spicy saffrony Agent Provocateur smells like laundry to me too. I haven't try any other perfume with such a loud saffron in it, so I can't compare more. Though in other saffron-containing scents, like 21 Costume National or Aoud Red Flowers by Montale, I'm comlpletely ok with that. Fortunately, in its late heart and base Cinnamon Sherbet became more comforting, but still a bit weird and even more masculine. Not a pity I gave it a try, but it's just not my piece of cake. I would love to try other fragrances from Sherbet series to compare their complexness and idea.

So far, I enjoyed every Comme des Garcons fragrance I could try. My favourites are Wonderwood, Kyoto, Calamus, Carnation and Rhubarb. Sherbet Cinnamon is the exception. Unfortunately, its smell reminds me very much of the Big Red chewing gum by Wrigley's.

I was in a bit of a random mood when I tried Series 5: Cinnamon. I had been walking past the Commes Des Garcons counter and spotted the small, white sprayer bottles and upon reading their labels went, "yes, I wouldn't mind smelling like cinnamon today!" Well, it's cinnamon but not in a rich, exotic or spicy way. I've recently begun cooking a variety of dishes and so I've become quite familiar with the scent of freshly ground cinnamon. Perhaps the sherbet aspect gets in the way, giving this fragrance a powdery and strange fizzy quality. The more the scent develops the cleaner and more subdued it becomes. It's delicate and clean rather than exotic and bold, like you may expect. It just feels diluted and strange on the skin, like a deoderant or a body splash rather than a perfume. I must however highlight the fact that this fragrance lasts and lasts, at least well over ten hours. I'm a big fan of oriental scents and anything particularly spicy, so this clean and synthetically sweetened cinnamon scent didn't rock my world, however for those that seek something a little different but clean at the same time, Series 5: Cinnamon could be the perfect pick. There's no doubt in my mind that this fragrance is pleasant, cooling and pretty, however I wanted just a touch more character.

While the names of the other two in this series are accurate, Cinnamon is quite different - cold, musky, very synthetic smelling. It reminds me of the smell of new (unused) appliances, like fridges and stoves.There is a mild clove-y spiciness, but it and the citrus notes are more like aftertastes to the main accord. Successfully feels cold, but not foody. Maybe it's the smell of the freezer the sherbert is being stored in?

First cedar, then musk, THEN the cinnamon. There is definitely a cold icy quality to this, like taking in frosty air through your nose. A very non-traditional take on cinnamon.

I like the powerful warm balsamic cedary opening,but then it becames very sweet ( by benzoin i guess)with an earthy rooty drydown. Not very intersting except the first moment.

This funny little perfume is a soft, milky scent that reminds me of cinnamon/herbal toothpaste. Cold, musky, and clean all at once.

I might call this a light gourmand. Truly unisex. Yummy, but fleeting....
