Comme des Garcons White

Very similar to the original CdG "Commes des Garcon" by Buxton that was released a year earlier, but without so much of the overtly wierd pickled-honey note that seemed to dominate and keep one on edge. If you want to work your way up to the original, this is the place to start. Here that particular facet is smoothed out with more prominent notes of cinnamon and clove. Expect a sweaty opening of coriander that quickly dries down to a nice sweet tiger balm vibe, ala Heeley's Esprit du Tigre. Slightly medicinal? Yes, but it's unique and it's good. You almost feel this warm and cold sensation at the same time. A unisex fragrance for sure (incorrectly labled for women only above, which is extremely annoying, they seem to do this often on here). Highly recommended. There is a reason why this is still available at Barney's considering it was created back in '94. Four out of 5 stars. A nice balanced blend of longevity and sillage to match.

A more palatable flanker of the clove bomb that is the Original CDG perfume. Here, the clove is less medicinal and more spiced cider while avoiding that bristly scratch that so often happens in other clove/cinnamon forward perfumes. CDG's Mark Buxton never fails to seamlessly blend spices and incenses in a way that feels abundant but never "too much." CDG White smells very very similar to Hotel Costes signature fragrance as well, but with more chutzpah (and more wearability for out of the house; day and night.) White is an ethereal shroud of lingering spices and sheer florals- white specks of brilliant dust dancing through rays of light above sunkissed wooden floors. It is ghostly, but the farthest thing from old fashioned. In fact, there is a certain aliveness to CDG White that I cant get enough of. It just sort of floats and dances all around you throughout its wear. Very spectral, very yummy, and very very good.

Although this perfume is marketed towards women I believe men can get away from wearing it. It evokes a warmness that no other perfume has matched according to my nose. I love the dark woody notes of cardamom, cloves and cinnamon which gives the fragrance a warm vibe which ends up being spicy and floral. Furthermore, the perfume has pretty good longevity (I get around 4-5 hours, which is good for my skin) but after the first hour the scent cloud does become a skin scent. Overall, I believe this is very unique scent which will be perfect for an evening out in the winter months.

Another Comme Des Garcons I've been using for quite a while in the past. An extremely exotic concoction of cinnamon, other spices (a lot of) on a woody/floral/fruity base. The whole fragrance has the typical CDG's incensey signature, but here it's drastically toned down to intentionally become barely perceptible. It's more like an overall vibe than a real note/accord. Intense, important and very very (very) distinctive. One of the best and most influential compositions by Mr Buxton. A personal favorite! Rating:8.5/10

This is a stunning perfume. When first sprayed, it carries a sharp woody note, hitting you with cinnamon, cardamom, and a touch of cherry, perhaps? Something akin to cherry pie. Then, as it settles on your skin it retains a warm, amber, vanilla scent. This scent is beautiful and super warm. I recommend as a winter/autumn scent, best for a rainy night out, or a cold foggy morning.

Comme des Garcons White is the best and most wearable fragrance from the whole Comme des Garcons line. When I smell it I get the imagination of white ash. Time to time I get a bubblegum accord out of it. Buxton typical flowers are mixed with spice and red pomegranate. Projection is withing 8 hours moderate, then the fragrance is only recognizeable from the spot.

To my nose, this is a zesty, fresh, spicy, ginger fragrance. Infact I can't believe there is no ginger note in it. I love the freshness. To me it leans more masculine but that doesn't stop me from wearing it at all. Sadly the projection is limited and I only get a couple of hours out of it on my skin. I'd rate 8.5/10

This perfume opened up beautifully on my skin, fresh, spicy, and slightly tangy. The scent is reminiscent of a Christmas tea pastries. I recommend it at least for trial, the aroma is very vibrant and rich.

Cloves + Cardamom = powerful spicy combination with a great sour pomegranate, nutmeg, cinnamon background. By the way, this is totally a UNISEX fragrance and should not be listed as female!

I was sipping masala tea while testing White and it was a tasteful combination...:-) This is spicy perfume indeed. The top notes, nutmeg, clove and cardamom last all the time. Florals, rose and lilly-of-the-Valley smell to me soapy, marigold a bit tart, but in pleasant way. No sign of green, but delightfuly woody by cedar. White is elegant, fragile beauty. I'd say more feminine than unisex: obviously depends on skin chemistry. I like it, it is timeless. Perfect autumn-winter perfume! Projection between moderate-strong, longevity 5-6 hrs.

This is the absolute exact capture of the smell of a swedish traditional christmas beverage. It's sweet, full, cloying, cosy, seriously unik - exacly like our christmas drink. The drink it self are to many people too sweet to drink, you kind of sip it slowly. But it still might be too much for you. As is this perfume, it's simply too much. I would like to "sip" it and see how I like it then.. In a minimal dose. If applied normal, it's simply too much. It's sickening. I do love the warm X-mas feeling, but it's just not enough.

This one is very cool and interesting. At first it's very astringent, almost smells like kombucha. Thankfully it simmers down pretty quick into a more natural, slightly spicy scent. Definitely agree with the people who smell cloves and cinnamon. I think this is definitely unisex but it would be a little more difficult for a woman to pull off. I also don't understand the name, as this smells much more 'orange' than 'white', if that makes sense.

This might be a little controversial. But I love this scent for the heat of summer. I understand that all the spices are traditional fall spices, but the clove in this is raw clove, complete with it's almost menthol astringency. This ends up being really refreshing. The heat helps the notes lift off my skin more in the dry down and lets the pomegranate note shine a little more. This is my signature summer time scent.

First I didn't smell anything and was ready to discard it. Then suddenly I started hearing a wonderful bedtime story, very calming but interest enough not to fall asleep. I really do enjoy this one and call me nuts but whenever I smell my sprayed arm I think of the color white! This is actually how white color should smell.. Warm unobtrusive cinnamon with some gentle trees in the background drew by a little child.

Intensive duet of cloves and cardamom shows up right after spraying. Later on the hint of pepper and nutmeg comes into play. I appreciate the whole composition that works great on my skin. It lasts long. The sillage is just great. And there is no specific sharpness as in Comme des Garcons - Comme des Garcons as some compare these fragrances.

when you smell this its like you went to dentist. clove is very heavy and intense but rose scent peaks it down. its very steak fragrance. if you spray on your hand and touch anywhere its steak there for10 hours

Perfect for Christmas, but certainlty not for every day use. Not worth a full bottle. Anyway, original. 7/10

This is one of the classic 90’s CdG scents in the transparent spicy-woody style Mark Buxton pioneered. Where CdG Original was pure spice and CdG 2 was a silvery rose, CdG White is a cross between them: a spicy rose. it almost seems to find the single facet of intersection between the tenderness of rosewater and the poignancy of cloves. a pane of red stained glass. there’s also a bit of a “soapy floral” sheer aura around the edges beautiful, seamless, and easy to wear by anyone anywhere.

thought this would be white floral / lactonic / powdery but this wasn't very white to me. clove heavy

I appreciate the boldness of it, but the cloves and vanilla are too far forward... mulled wine!...overall effect is cloying.

An oddly cool, astringent combination of spices. Intense, heady, similar to a cinnamon cleaning product. I prefer some green with my spices, so this was not for me.

This immediately turned to acrid sweat on me. Had to scrub off.

I bought this to wear on holiday to Centerparcs as I love having a new fragrance to associate and connect with the memories. I think this fits well; I wear it wandering around the forest, crisp bright cold days, cosy evenings in the nice warm wooden lodge. It would probably suit closer to Christmas but I think it’s good for October+ I mainly get a huge blast of cloves .... very festive. Also cinnamon. It doesn’t seem to last as long as some of the other CDG’s I have. I sprayed it in the bedroom with my toddler today and he started coughing and spluttering so from that, I’d say use sparingly!!

I wore this in the mid 2000's. I am a man, and my girlfriend got me a tester for free because she worked at Sephora at the time. I could not have afforded it then and cannot afford it now, but I loved it. I'm not sure it's really worth the hefty pricetag, so I haven't had a bottle since about 2005 or so. However, in my fragrance journey, I discovered something very similar. I think White smells almost exactly like Dunhill Edition. It's so close, I have given up all thoughts of getting another bottle of White.

This smells like Christmas! It reminds me of home-made pomanders for yule, oranges spiked with cloves and broken bits of cinnamon stick, sprinkled with vanilla sugar and hung on a very big, very real fir tree. Delicious, and unchanging too, lasts a long time. Why wouldn't I buy it? Because it lacks a personal chemistry for me; it smells like a really nice midwinter air freshener. Very cheerful, pleasant on my skin completely unobjectionable, but not captivating.

*Comme des Garçons - White Opening is very spicy with clove and cinnamon, very intense and strong ... Soon the scent calms down and something fruity and dry, kinda bittersweet appears to balance (I believe here we have the Pomegranate). After awhile, we get cedarwood, making the base of the scent... Then, a sweet dry on finale. Very good.

Oh no, it doesn't last on me ! :( Its opening is beautiful and bewitching, almost medicinal... And then, a cute fruity note, very sweet. But after 10 minutes... Nothing. Nothing at all. Really not for me, next. But try it, I bet it could be marvelous on an appropriate skin.

think overripe stone fruit and a few clove buds sitting on a sheet of slightly rusted industrial metal with kombucha poured on top of it. i wanted this to smell like chai and it almost does but there is something dark and rotten going on behind the scenes

Very woody and dry. Too sharp, but nice incensey quality anyway
