Nectar

So, I have a Garden Home. I have a some of my favorite fragrance notes as vines/shrubs/trees. So, when the Grapefruit tree began to blossom, I took a whiff, and was instantly enamored by the complexity of the fragrance that was coming off the blossom. I instantly knew I wanted a fragrance that could emulate that type of powdery creamy zesty freshness that was coming from that blossom. So, I stumbled onto Givenchy Gentleman, which was very close, but was missing something. It needed a deeper "zestiness". Enter a local Tj Maxx, they had this there. I had never heard of it, but knew Commodity does fantastic scents. So, I blind bought it. Omg, so before I even sprayed it, I could smell the citrus already poking through. I didn't bother putting it on a card, I just went head first on my wrist. Immediately I was transported to that blossom. The creaminess was there. The bright, crisp, zesty, green tartness in full glory. And that hint of sweetness of the tangerine. Just the right balance to portray what I experienced, but now I have. A bottle of it. Essence!! (Anyone who knows what I said, gets it. Lol) Surprisingly, it lasts quite a few hours. Roughly, 6-7 hours. And so far, since owning it, I have reapplied just because I wear it to smell that opening which last about 2 to 3 hours, so by the 4th hour, I can still smell it, but I just want it louder, so I reapply for no reason. Simply just to smell it. It's pretty rare a fragrance does that. So, when you include the $40 I paid for it, and I feel it set out to do exactly what I wanted of it. So to me, this is a rare 9/10

I'm not sure if my nose is just not picking up on the bitterness, but on first impression, I get what smells like Neroli mixed with the orange blossoms. To that end, I suppose it can be categorize as "bitter" in the beginning, but I honestly like it that way. I agree in that it's similar to Jo Malone's Orange Blossom, but with a touch more neroli. Nectar feels too intense of a name for something that is actually a naturalistic white floral.

Smells exactly like a hot and humid tropical Aussie summer. A little goes a long way so spray with caution or it could get overwhelming. Amazing during the day but my favourite time to wear it is on a night out when the weather is stink’n hot and the air is thick with humidity. I wish it was available as 10ml though so I can have it with me at all times.

this is my new summer event, absolutely devine, and i do NOT like citrus scents that much. to me it smells like a sweetened, citrus, summer scented soap bar. it’s dry, but also sweet from the pomelo and the neroli. it’s also great for keeping mosquitos away, since it takes on a citronella type of smell.

divine. a green-tinged citrus, warmed up with the honeysuckle the same way that an orchard is warmed by the sun. doesn't last very long on the skin, but the novelty of toting around the giant 3.4 oz bottle to touch up is kinda fun to me.

This fragrance is so beautiful! I receive so many compliments on it. I love the smell of honeysuckle and it smells like fresh honeysuckle on the bush. The citrus is bright and brings it together nicely.

I’m obsessed with jo Malone nectarine blossom n honey, this smells just like it and lasts waaay longer. I get a good 5-6 hours out of this. Absolutely love it!

An aggressive shove into a Sicilian citrus grove. I love this but it might be too potent for others.

Pomelo is one of my favorites fruits (if you eat it a lot you'll start to feel the subtle differences with grapefruit) and I've been searching for a true pomelo fragrance and stumbled upon Nectar. Youtuber Sebastian hyped it up for me in a top grapefruit/pomelo fragrance video and I decided to blind buy this. While the opening definitely has a very nice & tart pomelo note, I was hoping it to be a lot more prominent in the composition. The pomelo/citruses here have that nice slightly sharp, sour and bitter raw fruit/peel smell, as opposed to ripe. Don't get me wrong, the scent is very sweet overall, but this dense sweetness is clearly coming from the honeysuckle not the citruses. You kinda have to smell up close to get the details of the citruses, because Nectar's main accord is this sweet and fresh white floral accord especially after the citruses quickly fade in about 20 minutes. The combination of orange blossom and neroli give it a clean, refreshing, spring time smell, and has a slight soapiness to it. Neroli also adds to that slightly bitter opening, which balances the sweetness nicely. The white florals here kinda remind me of a sweet, iced jasmine tea. The performance is quite nice especially the projection. Don't overspray or the honeysuckle sweetness could get cloying. Although Nectar isn't exactly what I expected, and is also pretty feminine leaning (I'm a guy), I really enjoy this scent and the more I wear it the more it's been growing on me. It just feels so clean, pleasant, uplifting, comforting and relaxing. Applause to Commodity, because this thing smells like straight up nectar from a honeysuckle or something. The opening is pretty beautiful. Fantastic sparkling white floral citrus, a little tangy so the choice of tangier citruses like the bergamot and pomelo definitely show. The neroli is definitely there after the spray but it becomes very subtle afterwards. As with most citruses these fruits fade pretty quickly, and you get a milky, honey-like white floral that smells almost EXACTLY like a honeysuckle. The other reviewers were right this smells like a bee made it lol. On the drydown the citrus is sort of there, and I feel it lingers a little closer to the skin than the florals, still tangy though. Super sweet, but in a natural way, like honey and definitely not like refined sugar. Like what other people say about the whole Commodity line this is probably at its best layered. I've been pairing it with Hermès Eau d'Orange Verte since it highlights the citrus without making it too complicated. They executed the concept very well, but of course if you dislike that concept you'll despise this. It's a little cloying, like eating raw honey.

This fragrance is has a special place in my collection, and it's for no particular reason. She has just become one of my go tos and most reliable fragrances. This is the year I wore her most so far. If became one of my go to work fragrances and also an easy reach for running errands. It's a staple for spring/summer and I felt my review was long overdue. With the summer coming to an end , it felt necessary to share my feelings about it. What you get with this is a citrusy white floral. If you don't like those profiles, this just would not be for you. There's a brightness to this fragrance coming from the pomelo note. Then it softens into a sweet green floral. This fragrance really introduced me to Néroli even though it's not a Néroli forward fragrance. But I love how it peeks out between the blend of notes.

The more I wear this and buy other fragrances, the more I like it! The florals are sweet, I find the citrus note fades pretty quickly on my skin. It doesn’t project virtually at all and after 3-4 hours I can usually only smell it if I get the area I sprayed a good sniff. I blind bought this at TJ Maxx so I’m not disappointed. I like to wear this alone but sometimes I will layer it over a more one note fragrance. I love the scent but it doesn’t last long enough so I wouldn’t buy it again at full price even if I could.

I ordered this based on the fact it had neroli, orange blossom and honeysuckle I thought this might be a much fresher version of LDBS by kilian that I could wear in spring and summer & I was right! And the price is amazing! I love it, it definatley is not super super sweet which isn't summer appropriate for my taste personally like LDBS is (which is what I hoped) I can really detect the honeysuckle note! It's a LOVE I will be purchasing a full bottle ASAP.

A very good choice for spring/summer day time scent, without going too citrusy/freshie. BUT, you have to like white flowers in order to like Nectar. Unlike what its name may suggest, Nectar is strong white florals but on the fresh and green side, with minimum sweetness. To my nose (and my husband's too) this has a similar smell to bottled jasmine green tea. It doesn't project far but stays quite well on me on a warm summer day for about 6 hours.

I blind bought this for $30 at tj maxx because I had heard good things about this brand. It was super floral forward on me, like smelled like a fresh bouquet. Some people might like that, but I tend to think fresh flowers smell a little bit sour and funky. It didn't end up being for me, so I passed this along to a friend. It's strange because I can tell whenever they wear it and it smells amazing on them. Very fresh and citrus forward.

To me this smells of sharp pomelo and honeysuckle blossoms. I sprayed this on a gloomy early march morning in the UK for the first time, and it instantly transported my to the sweltering heat of the summer, sat on my mothers patio, surrounded by honeysuckle and drinking a too strong Gin cocktail haha. Powerful olfactory memories and response to this one :) made me happy even though its not my usual type of perfume.

went into this one with zero expectations and it became one of my favorites from the archive collection. JUICY, bright citrus and honeysuckle. plays well with other fruit notes if you want to up the juice factor by layering. like most other commodity frags, it doesn't scream, and the performance is.... mid to meh for the (newly updated) pricing, but if i saw this at a discount i would not hesitate to pick it up.

To me this smells like very high quality jasmin green tea! there are no notes of jasmin at all, its probably the orange blossom, neroli and honeysuckle that's making it smell like a floral green tea, but i definitely smell green tea here!!! I've actually been on a hunt for a TRUE green tea perfume (not the Elizabeth Arden green tea kind)... and I think this is it!

This fragrance smells like how eating a sour key tastes. This was very unique and I can't say I've smelled anything like this before. It smells almost sour, but in a nice, candied sort of way. This might be due to my love for sour keys, but the more I smell this fragrance the more I appreciate and enjoy it.

A nice bright and summery citrus, love the sweet floral aspect of it. At first sniff I was pleasantly surprised, I don't usually like citrus scents. After sitting for a while, though, I picked up on this slightly synthetic smell. I'm not sure if this is just me, but I would definitely still wear it.

i'd say this is enjoyable enough, i'm not crazy over it but its nice. It opens very floral and citrusy. its smells like pollen: like you're straight up sniffing some flowers outside. soon it becomes a powdery dry soapy scent; like clothes straight from the dryer

Smells aromatic and extremely citrusy, more interesting than Magnolia but not safe for a blind buy. The bergamot hits like a truck and honeysuckle too, its nice.

The orange blossom can be a little overwhelming (for teh record, i did not love the JM OB), but I layered this with KA Vanilla and its a perfect marriage. :)

A nearly overwhelming bush of orange blossom followed by finding a cedar basket of fresh cut oranges tucked underneath.

Bath and Body Works "In the Sun" is a great dupe for this! I only notice the vetiver is missing in the BBW one.

I mostly just get honeysuckle and vetiver. I like it, it's very fresh and pretty.

Tried Nectar today. I was expecting something very sweet, however this was clean and sharp. The first scent I noticed was tobacco, then, lemon, and then the white floral honeysuckle. 20” later I could smell cedar too. An hour later it had faded to a mellow jasmine green tea soap that others have mentioned, with a subtle musk. Two hours later and I can barely smell it with my nose on my skin. This was the first time I’ve tried Nectar. I wanted to get a good idea of it’s fragrance and I work from home, so I sprayed more than 10 times. Its sharpness felt too much at first but probably because I was expecting sweetness. And this combination of notes isn’t something I’m used to. An hour later I grew to enjoy it, but it faded so quickly! A clean unisex floral. Smells like summer. I’ll be wearing this but probably won’t purchase it again.

This opens very sharp with what smells like fresh cut citrus zest mixed with crushed flowers. Reminds me of being little and crushing plants and flowers to smell them. Mid is more realistic florals I'm picky about florals but these are pretty natural. Not much honeysuckle. Dries down to citrus zest mixed with ivory soap and and musk. It's okay, but not something I'd purchase after I finish up my 10ml. I don't wear it out much, but on someone that really likes the smell of fresh flowers it could be a hit. Also, it's got a sharpness from the nectar that some may not like. Scent 4.2/10 Performance 3/10

I love the opening! To me it is all honeysuckle. Very much reminds me of a stronger Mediterranean Honeysuckle In Bloom. Its like a honeysuckle tea. After an hour or two though it goes sharp and starts smelling like a floral hairspray. Like jasmine and aqua net. If it just stayed like the opening I would not hesitate to buy a bottle. I'll try it again when the weather warms up. Maybe it's better in the spring or summer instead of between fall and winter. It's definitely a spring like scent so that seems fair

This is a very odd scent! There is something weird about it. It is citrus and powdery and Very sharp! I also get the oddest whiff of moth balls!

I received a free bottle of this from Sephora for testing purposes - #summerscent. Now THAT that is out of the way, I was a little surprised to find that I enjoy this fragrance. I agree that it is misnamed - I think the name is suggestive of something far sweeter. This is very dry on me. It's not listed in the notes, but I get a slightly indolic jasmine in the dry down. I wish the honeysuckle was more pronounced on me, as it would add a touch more sweetness. I have a sample of their Amber fragrance and will try layering the two. Like Jo Malone, Commodity's scents can be worn alone, but in this case, I think they are best when layered to add some depth. Update - August 18, 2018 UGH! What was I thinking! This smells awful on me. Why would something called Nectar smell so dry! I get no sweetness whatsoever. I may use it to see if it helps balance out the sweetness of some other scent, but if anyone is interested in swapping, I have an almost full rollerball-size spray available. Message me.

The tangerine and bergamot citrus fades quickly, and it develops into an orange blossom and honeysuckle scent. Really strong orange blossom with a touch of neroli that gets stronger as it dries rather than disappearing as usual. Does smell a bit synthetic. Huge projection, like overpowering. 1 spray goes a long way. If you’re looking for a strong orange blossom, this is it. I can’t smell ambroxan, so I’m not sure if it’s in here, but I don’t get the feeling that something’s missing, and it certainly doesn’t smell like JHAG Not a perfume to me, which I can’t smell other than an awful unfragrant synthetic chemical smell. This is a very heady orange blossom, could be cloying in summer.

I absolutely loved this at first. Full in your face honeysuckle. However, with just one spritz on my wrist, it was nauseatingly sweet after a few hours. I could barely taste the food I was eating, everything was Nectar. I had to wash everything I wore that day and some of the smell still lingered. I've never tried an orange blossom/neroli, so that may just not work for me. Vetiver also always has too much staying power for me. I wish I could just keep the top notes and honeysuckle, and leave the rest behind.

Initially I thought, not bad. A bright citrus springtime hello. But within 10 minutes I realize this is a 100% synthetic smell to me—not a natural drop of anything in it. Obvious comparisons can be made to laundry detergent or bathroom cleaning products. I know that’s a cheap shot, but that’s what I’m picking up. Nectar is a headache in a bottle, you’ve been warned.

The honeysuckle takes over fast, and while it’s smooth, it borders on too syrupy for my taste. Smells like standing near a beehive in the heat of summer. Pleasant at first, but quickly overwhelming. Soft projection, moderate longevity. Pretty, but not for me.

This is extremely bitter on my skin. I feel like I am biting into a bitter citrus rind. I agree that this should not be named Nectar. I was imagining a sweet, creamy citrus. But I am pretty disappointed with how offensive this was to my nose.

I'd received a sample of this once, around the time it was released. Honestly, it smelled like camphor - so much so that I am surprised it's not listed among the notes. It was so strong. "Nectar" is not an apt name for this at all.

To me it smells like fresh flowers - a bit like if a bee created a perfume.

I read so many reviews of this fragrance comparing it to Jo Malone’s Orange Blossom (only with more longevity) that I blind bought it from Sephora. Thank goodness that Sephora accepts returns because the other reviews are correct. It has a serious bitter bite to it that somehow overrides the gorgeousness of the honeysuckle, orange blossom, and neroli. I think it must be the Pomelo mixed with the Bergamot giving it that camphor like sour note. Pomelo is like grapefruit and Bergamot isn’t far behind then add in the neroli, tangerine, and other citrus flowers and you’ve got yourself a big ‘ole sour jamboree. It’s just too many citrus notes all together maybe. Jo Malone Orange Blossom could be called Nectar because it has the juicy sweetness of clementine and the beautiful orange blossom, but this is NOT sweet and should be named “Bitter.” It smells nothing like Orange Blossom. I guess you could call my review bitter as well ha, ha. I really wanted to like this fragrance! I gave it many tries, but finally had to accept that it really was just sour. I’m actually not that impressed the the Commodity brand. I know you’re supposed to combine fragrances but almost all from the line I’ve tried seem a bit soulless.

Crazy strong projection, extremely floral, I can agree with the jasmine green tea comment, but also the neroli is strooooong. I personally don't like this, it has almost every note I hate... got it in a sample box and only writing this review to serve as a reminder to myself.

I really enjoy the scent of Commodity Nectar - it's such a unique musky floral that I have not come across anywhere else. When my friend first told me about this scent, from the name I was expecting it to be more of a juicy, sweet, citrus with honey or something. I ordered a decant of it and was completely surprised to smell a very full-bodied fragrance. I do smell the pomelo, but it's not syrupy - with the neroli and bergamot, the fragrance opens zesty and even with a bitter rasp. It simultaneously surrounds you in a cloud of musky orange blossom, the way the gardenia in Narciso is extremely musky and warm. It actually does dry down more like a honeysuckle/honeyed "nectar" but not as strongly the way other orange blossom perfumes do - probably because there are no honey or vanilla type notes in here. This actually makes it quite wearable even in high temperatures, because these stages don't project. The floral notes are abstracted to me, they don't smell like photorealistic orange blossom or honeysuckle - I think neroli is what I actually get the most. This is a lot fresher and zingier than the name might suggest, but with a dense quality that isn't from overly sweet or candied notes, but humid musks. I almost bought a full bottle of this when they were first being discontinued, but I'm glad now that I didn't - just because this doesn't last very long on my skin. It applies kind of strong, and could even be overwhelming if sprayed too heavily, but then after an hour or so, I don't smell it on myself anymore, except perhaps as a skin scent. But if you don't have this problem with Nectar, I'm very happy for you - it is a beautiful, interesting perfume.

Let me lay it out. That sharpness is not REAL Honeysuckle someone spoke of below, That isn't what is going on here. No Avon & Elizabeth Arden didn't, but no one can. They simulate notes, here it's done w/ Ambroxen that is so overwhelming to me, I cannot enjoy the Honeysuckle, Orange, or anything they are trying to create. Think..."Juliette has a Gun, not a perfume" with a very small note of Orange (not real orange, lol) added, you will know what this smells like. Ambroxen overdose & they ruined it. JM OB is a HOLY GRAIL, Have to have at ALL times, no matter what, Perfume for me & I don't even like this,...sooo..Pahhhh leeeeze don't do that. Ugh. IF you like JHAGNAP, you will like this. Sad too, b/c this was my first Commodity purchase to add to my collection, now I'm burnt. If you want a more potent Orange Blossom, that is done stronger & done right, go for Houbigant Orangers en Fleurs, omg, THAT is how you do it!!!!

FINALLY! This is Jo Malones Orange Blossom...ON big honkin' steroids! This is a heady and narcotic mixture. It's humid and muggy but it lasts and lasts...... The dry-down is where is gets just a touch sweeter. The Neroli is bound together by the Honeysuckle so well that it's seamless. In fact- I was so impressed, I paid FULL RETAIL from rip-off Sephora after I had sampled this! I am only 10 % into my bottle and I am already thinking of buying a back-up! (I am MORTIFIED about any future reformulations). The ingredients herein are exceptional. This is "niche" and at just a hint over $100.00 for a 3.4 oz bottle that ain't too bad. This is not a pretty or sweet scent...like I said, it's a narcotic white floral erotic daydream . If you're a fan of Madonna's Truth or Dare, Fracas & Tom Ford's Orchid Soleil OR other white florals that are a little challenging ; this is for YOU! Thank me later.

ADDENDUM: Please realize that REAL honeysuckle is a dense, heady smell that has a natural "stink" to it (as does REAL gardenia). Something like Avon Honeysuckle is not real honeysuckle and I doubt anything from Elizabeth Arden (5th Avenue) uses real honeysuckle. NECTAR uses REAL honeysuckle - and that's causing contention here. It's a heady smell, but I give NECTAR nothing but praise for smelling STRONG and NATURAL. (Think: In the same way that Ylang Ylang , Tiare and Jasmine give some people headaches-they are both heady flowers) The honeysuckle supports the orange blossom (neroli) so well ! This is a wonderful composition and has good longevity and projection. Sample it at Sephora. Add a star if you're not afraid of ballsy white florals !

People, please listen to me. This is a great fragrance, BUT it needs to be layered and is not a singe scent type of fragrance. That being said, the key is to layer this with a much sweeter scent and then voila...it envelopes you in the best possible way. Otherwise it is very much an "in your face" strong scent that may not appeal to a wider group. My personal fave is to layer with Sunny Diane from Diane Von Furstenberg (oldie but seriously goodie). Yes, that's right a freshie and super affordable cheap "freshy"! Trust me when I tell you, I have random post pandemic people following me down a NYC street to ask what I am wearing! This works and you will thank me later!

Okay, here we go. I’m on my third wearing of this since buying it at TJ Maxx for a great deal. On first spray that day, I thought to myself that it was just another one of those “Fleur d’Orange” scents in which I’m not the biggest fan. However, the more I wear it (and I think spraying it on my clothes rather than skin) the more I really enjoy it. It definitely has this happy, pleasant feel about it. I don’t know if I would pay any more for it than what I did, however I have to say I am really enjoying it. It’s not sexy or anything of that sort, it’s just a happy scent, one you throw on when you’re wanting to just get those good vibes going on a sunny day.

Well i like neroli, but this is a crisp sharp neroli, mixed in with orange blossom, This is almost too much..almost got a headache wearing it...it doesn't get much smoother in the base, I just think it is done in a cheap way, not with good quality ingredients...the neroli isn't rounded, it just attacks...not impressed with this brand, doesn't seem the noses behind it are the best...can't imagine a guy wearing it...way too intense for a cool fall day...might be more wearable in summer, still, for the price, there are better fresh neroli scents out there..I find Orchid Soleil way nicer, and easier to wear..

It’s hard for me to find spring/summer scents that resonate with me because I gravitate towards those that are better suited to crisp, foggy October nights. But I’m excited to wear this brew in summer. Nectar is heady, thick, and syrupy but not cloying. The tart citrus and full-bodied honeysuckle and neroli strike a balance between fresh and unctuous. This fragrance doesn’t smooth down the rough edges of its notes, allowing them to remain sharp and untamed in a way that sets this apart from the Jo Malone citruses to which it’s compared. This one may make a sunshine kind of a girl out of me come April.

My favorite Commodity has .. slipped. My bottle is from "the Marshall's Purge" of 2018. OMG got this for $34.99 !! (also got Leather , Whiskey , Gin, Orris and Vetiver) . It was $100.00 a few years earlier at Sephora! Longevity and projection on this is VERY light . Almost "body spray lite" which is sad because this is a very PURE neroli based scent. Neroli is a very LIGHT NOTE and vanishes fast. GRADE: C plus. Makes Jo Malone's Orange Blossom smell like a BEAST in comparison.
