Whiskey

I'm not a whiskey aficionado, so I'm not sure how well this captures that feel (based on my limited whiskey experience, not very). But this is one of my favorite Commodity scents. I know that many reviewers find it to lean masculine, but to my nose it's perfectly unisex, if not a bit feminine. Maybe that's just because I enjoy it so much on my skin. What I can say is that it's a beautiful aromatic-woody scent. I get far more oak and mahogany than cedar. The lavender is prominent, but it's smoothed out by the creamy vanilla and powdery violet. It has a classic, almost vintage feel, but it's light enough to be an everyday scent. Commodity may have hemmed itself in with the single word descriptive names, and I wonder if it had been named something less literal-sounding if it would have been interpreted as a) more feminine and b) more successful since it does fail to live up to its boozy name. On its own terms, this is a beautiful fragrance.

I tend to really like this house in general, and this fragrance is no exception. Despite the name, I don't get whiskey. I would say this is largely a violet/leather that is woody and aromatic. The opening is mostly lavender and violet, and there is something slightly bitter or medicinal which could perhaps be seen as boozy/whisky...but I think it's just the black currant and wormwood giving that effect. As this transitions it becomes a powdery violet and leather fragrance that is aromatic with a woodsy backbone. Mid-way through this reminds me a bit of Dior Homme Intense, but more aromatic and woody. The far drydown is so good---powdery vanillic leather, musk, and woods. Performance is decent- lasts most of the day with average projection. Is unisex leaning more masculine, IMO. I have a travel spray, but would consider a full bottle---I think this has been discontinued?? It's a strong like for me!

Whiskey is a misnomer. This is a violet, musk, lavender fragrance. Slightly powdery and also creamy. Unisex, leaning feminine. A decent dupe for Alaia - less challenging and softer than that one. It's really pleasant, blended with good taste, with a mild but definite personal sillage. I definitely recommend this.

Got this for my boyfriend for Christmas. He likes bourbon/whiskey scents, so I wanted to give this fragrance a shot. On first spray, it's a sweet, caramel, woody scent. On the dry down tho you might have to worry about being breathalyzed since this really does smell like whiskey.

It smells like a cheap whiskey in the opening, but the drydown is worth it. It reminds me slightly of Guess Seductive Noir (not a dupe !) after an hour, like herbacious vanilla.

This is pretty good, it smells like a barrel of whiskey rather than the booze.. about 5-6 hour longevity, and close in projecting like all commodities I've smelled

Nice! Very masculine dark spicy wood. Its violet-y and plummy and rich, initial notes didn't last long however the dark woody musk lingered for a long time.

I don't get whiskey from this, but it's still a nice scent. Mostly violet-y lavender with some leather. I like it.

I like the cologne but i definitely don’t think it’s anything to rage about, it smells like most niche woody sweet fragrances but the disappointing thing about this fragrance is the silage and longevity, it only last about 1 hour on skin till there’s no longer any scent and just that alone is a breaking point with this fragrance but other than that it is an okay fragrance! Definitely wouldn’t buy another bottle of it though!

hmm im not sure if i like this one. i think its interesting... i liked the opening was better than after, it was more floral and fruity. this is just plain smoky/ woody/ powdery? i do feel i can get some use out of this for the spooky season

Whiskey? You must be joking. There’s nothing here that evokes the feeling or smell of whiskey. This is tart fruity for a bit in the opening but primarily powdery florals and soap. It doesn’t smell bad, but it isn’t very interesting, kinda synthetic, and smells dated like something from the ‘90s.

Tried it as a sample. Barbershop, bug spray. You name it. Opened sharp on me. I kept waiting for sweetness or warmth, but the shaving cream vibe never settled. Performance was solid, but the profile wasn’t my lane. Not full-bottle worthy.

This and gin were really the only two fragrances I liked out of their discovery set. The name is misleading I think. This to me feels smoky, probably from all the woods. It slightly reminds me of MMM Whispers in the Library I just realized, which is probably why I like this. Something about it is almost leathery or tar like to me. Again it isn't bad but it also isn't unique, I don't think I'd buy a full bottle of this and I wouldn't even be able to pick a time to wear this (and thats coming from someone who wears any perfume anytime too) Edit- ok 3 hours in, its wild because it dries down almost identical to Whispers and I take back my statement cause I might actually have to scoop this one up. Though I don't like most of their fragrances, I have to admit their longevity is amazing.... Whispers usually fades within an hour on me. I'll just have to learn to get passed that first 30-60 minute opening.

Way too masculine for me, even though I like boozy scent and also unisex-masculine-leaning frags. It is very "woody" for men, I find it difficult to separate into notes since I am not that familiar. Not enough booziness in this scent (no plum!). (Compare with By Killian Vodka on the rocks, or some of Atelier Cologne range that may scream booziness.) I get a soft whiskey scent after 2 hours when it becomes a skin scent. I saw quite positive reviews on Youtube. You might want to check. Try before you buy. Poor longevity: ~4h.

Whiskey is an earthy, boozy, leathery experience. The journey from top notes to the base is more winding road than straight line highway. The patchouli and wormwood interplay with the black current and plum to create an earthy grounding, while also creating the scent’s boozy aspects. The woods are dark, projecting a leathery impression. In the dry down that leather blends with the vetiver to release an animalic aspect.

Tried this one today and all I could think is "Bvlgari Black". I know they have only a few things in common but to me the smell so similar, especially in that sort of "rubber" scent, which a great. But, for all that I do love the whiskey barrel start to CM, it fades within less than 2 hours on my wrists, just as Bvlgari Black does. For the $ I'd rather stick with BB. Both are lovely!

Anbery/vanilla lavender with aromatic woods. I really don't sense the plum ...??....and the saffron is hidden or just a touch...IMO. Goes on very briskly...sweet...I feel this needed a note or notes added to "creamy" it down...and smooth it out. I enjoy the drydown. Projection is wow at first...then goes down to moderate. This is nothing mind-blowing...but it is a nice scent.

When I first sprayed this I thought it’s not what I expected (not boozy at all), but it smells good. About 30 minutes later I was doing some chores and kept getting wafts of pre-2020 Dior Homme (one of my all time faves). Then I remembered that I tested out my latest acquisition and yet Whiskey was the culprit and I’m not mad at it. I’d say that the name is very deceiving.

Sweet kinda amber-y whiskey has richness & charm enough. Kinda feels like a Demeter Whiskey scent but amped up in quality! Average longevity. Blind bought this at Marshall's for $34.95! Happy! Will keep as a "go to" for daily use.
