Avant Garde

Very tobacco centric to me. Loads of Amber. Smoky hints of sweetness and vanilla. It's a really nice perfume. But, this one and Carte Blanche remind me too much of perfumes I've already had or have smelled before. This one is reminiscent of Angels Share. If that's your thing, you will deffo love this and save a few $$ by using this one. It has very good performance, as an extrait. This isn't my taste. I'm not a fan of Killian's anything, so this is a hard pass for me.

I passed by the CSP boutique a few weeks ago to buy my boyfriend Rhum-Tabac for his birthday. I was gently offered to smell their new extrait de parfum (the three of them) and I was hopeful since they're supposedly vanillas. They are not really vanillas, they are certainly not bad but not sweet at all. This one is very smokey, and musky, you can smell more the citrus than the vanilla - vanilla that I cannot smell for the life of me. For the wear, they are not very long lasting, which is not a surprise keeping in mind they usually do EDT and mild but very good EDP. I think it is out of their confort zone to do so "niche"-like perfumes, since they usually do sweet stuff. Not bad but not my cup of tea and too smokey due to the tonka in the base.

I do get the comparison to angels share for sure but this is alot more tobaccco tonka. It almost has a rubbery aspect to it? I dunno. It's angel shares less gourmand cousin and I'm fine with it. I'll use my sample in the winter.
