Cologne Mood

I had a sample set which included Cologne Mood, Mora Bella, Pomelo Fizz, Aqua Motu, and Immortal Cedrat. Of the five, Cologne Mood is the only one I liked. The scent is not terribly complex, but it's very pleasant. Starts off with a very strong, bright, lemony citrus, nicely balanced with cedar. After it sets in a bit the patchouli comes out, not strong, just a touch, and it also seems to sweeten. I don't think I've ever smelled rhubarb before so I couldn't tell you for certain, maybe that is the source of the bright sweetness. Overall I thought it was lovely but not ground breaking. If you love bright, fresh and easy fragrances, I recommend.

A very fresh and spicy green fragrance. Very nice and casual, safe, non-offensive. Smells very conventional but it's really likeable. Unfortunately, short-lived and doesn't project much. This and Jasmin Dentelle are my personal favourites in the Jardin Pop line.

I got a decant of Cologne Mood because I can never resist trying anything with a prominent rhubarb note, even though the rest of the note list should have told me that in every other respect, this one isn't for me. It's essentially a woody scent, with a strong, slightly synthetic cedar note coming on strong from the very start. At first the bergamot and rhubarb provide a nicely bittersweet, tart contrast to the general woodiness, and I do enjoy this phase. But pretty soon these elements fade and the woody aspect is enhanced by iris, nutmeg and cardamom instead - not bad by any means, but a little too much on the masculine side of unisex for my own personal taste, and generally just not my thing. I really can't fault it for quality, though, and longevity is very good as well. All in all I enjoyed testing this one, and it was interesting to discover another side to Comptoir Sud Pacifique than their usual sweet gourmands, but I don't think my decant will ever be used up.

Cologne Mood is a refreshing cologne for a hot day. Unlike many of Comptoir Sud Pacifique's offerings, this one isn't overly tropical or sweet - no coconut and vanilla here. What is here is a beautiful, unisex scent. Citrus and cedar are cool and refreshing. Vetiver isn't listed but it's prominent adding a grassy note. Cardamon and nutmeg are just barely there to add a spicy edge. The patchouli is clean and light. And then there's this delicious tart rhubarb. That rhubarb note pulls the whole thing together. For such a light fragrance, it has respectable longevity - I get a few hours out of a single spray. It's not beast mode projection, but it's also not a skin scent. It's just enough for a hot day and not so much you'll overwhelm others.

A unisex cologne in a very traditional sort of way. Leaves a long aftertaste after all the sparkling citrus and bitterness are gone. However this base, while long lasting, reminds of a typical aftershave from supermarket.
