Fleurs des Caraibes

I am forever searching for a big Ylang Ylang frag and bought this blind because of the notes and high votes for that fave flower of mine. It did not disappoint! I'm really enjoying this and hope it will wear well throughout the year even. Ylang is big and sparkling, the overall vibe is sweet but a flower and vanilla sweet, not sugar. It is tropical but not suntan lotion with the absence of coconut in this composition. I love coconut in general but without it here, I feel it is more suitable for more occasions. To conclude, I love it. I will happily wear it and am ever grateful for a heady, warm and sweet floral juice with the Ylang leading the way!

I can't begin to describe the perfection of this scent. Yes, it smells exactly like a Carribian night in full bloom, exotic, tropical fruits, all of them in a big bowl, melons of all kinds, passionfruit, starfruit. Total perfection. Perfect in the way like a perfume made by a highend nichehouse with a real high budject in quality. I get mostly hibiscus in full tropical bloom blended perfectly with real vanillapods (like the vanilla Guerlain uses in their most expensive exclusive line of perfumes, such as SD Vanille, among others). Blended into a musky exotic beauty. My absolute favorite scent for tropical hot days and nights. <3 Aloha!!! <3

Intoxicating but never too strong. It smells like an island bouquet. Deep, rich, and sultry. It's also delicious with the fruits. It is an odd mix, but it works.

This is so far one of the most promising Comptoir de Sud fragrances as the others often fell into the box of too sweet or too edible. So far Fleurs de Caraibes has successfully delivered what other tropical fragrances failed so far, i.e. smelling tropical without being cloying or overwhelming or falling into the trap of synthetic coconut notes. Do not get me wrong, this is still very sweet. A while ago I was very much split between two tropical flower fragrances, one of the Manoumalia by Le Nez and the other was Montale's Intense Tiare. I tested them paralelly, tested wearing only one and the other on the following day but I failed to be able to vote for either over the other and once the testing period was over (my samples ran out). I have ended up saturated by both and not bought any bottles concluding that tropical flowers - or rather the way they are interpreted in perfumery - are not for me. Now I received a sample of Fleurs de Caraibes and I tend to think, this one I like more than the other two above. Now I must add that I can only build on my memories and can only hope that this preference is not due any other psychological factors such as changes in my taste or emotional attitude. P.S. Longevity is about 2-3 hours on me, which drops the price/value ratio.

This would be a tame offering from Comptoir sud Pacifique that I've tried after Vanille extreme and several other vanillas from the line. The vanilla is subdued in this and allows the mixed flowers to shine as well. I can't quite discern one floral note from another in this scent, they are well blended together. I do get the melon note and it smells like a melon that lingers between just ripe and over-ripe, with a hint of booziness but the melon plays a small role in this. There is a slight tropical vibe to this scent especially after one knows the name, but if it were a blind test, I would have just gone for flora/fruity vanilla. Sillage for me remains close to the skin and like previous reviewers have said, this one has seriously poor longevity, I could smell it for maybe 2 hours tops.
