Positano (Carlos Benaim)

Not your average citrus fresh fragrance, and that's a good thing. You get a symphony of oranges and turmeric right away, with black currant and lavender smoothness. I love the way this one opens and liked it immediately. There's a mineral element along with the hay that makes the underlying vetiver smell like TDH. In fact, this could be a flanker, and I personally would choose it over other TDH flankers such as eau tres fresh, with it's grapefruit cumin smell that materializes on my skin. As time goes on the patchouli comes forward giving it some weight. I would love this if it wasn't for the patchouli, but it's not enough to make me dislike it. Up close it has a rugged vibe like ADP Cedro Taormina , and affar it's more like TDH parfum. Overall it is a realy nice fragrance that I'd wear on if I was gifted a bottle, or found one heavily discounted. But it's not distinct enough beyond the opening and heart to separate itself or compell me to replace TDH, or choose it over it's more easy going brother, LV Orage. It's worth testing if you stumble upon a decant. Scent 74/100 Performance

This is a fairly unique citrus summer fragrance with fruity and earthy facets, with beautiful bottle cap artwork. It's got a dark, brooding character compared to most other Citrus Aromatic scent profiles, and could fit in as something a bit different in a summer rotation. The black curant, turmeric, vetiver and hay notes no doubt contribute to that fruity, earthy twist on the Citrus Aromatic scent profile. "Fruity" should be a listed accord in the stack above. The black currant in the opening is stunning. A bit expensive for full bottle worthiness for me but the bottle artwork counts for a lot. Plus, since Ralph Lauren Polo is my favorite fragrance ever, I'm a follower of Carlos Beniem. This should easily be rated over a 4.0. Update: Couldn't get my mind off this scent, so found a good-enough price and bought a full bottle. The bottle design is stunning. Heavy, thick bottle and cap, beautiful artwork on cap. Smells even better out of the bottle atomizer than the decant.

Like the comment below most associate Terre de Hermes with a dirty/earthy orange, and Positano also begins with a warm earthy orange from the Tumeric/Orange, but it’s not quite so dirty and masculine. Definitely more unisex. The green-grassy facets do peek out after a few minutes adding a natural outdoorsy feel to the fragrance. It feels “sunny” like strolling through a park on a beautiful day, quite literally putting a smile on your brain 😊

Neroli, bergamot, aquatic notes, ambroxan, basil, dry mineral notes, clove, coffee and earthy notes. I usually don't enjoy aquatics. This one is actually quite pleasant, even though the mineral saltiness is overly forced upon you. The slight spiciness helps offset the very sea-themed fragrance a bit but still a bit too much.

quality citrus aromatic with a spicy touch. the orange/turmeric opening is highly realistic, providing a zingy top before the scent settles to a more aromatic heart. performance seems above average with strong sillage and it smells great in the air. leans masculine, slightly mature and overall very well executed, bravo!
