Reykjavik (Delphine Lebeau)

Very unique and well blended , lovely

I close my eyes and get cardamom, a hot iron vapor, and cedar. To me, it’s warm and cool at once, but at its core this is a wet/steamy warmth. With a name like Reykjavik I expected something cold, but what I get instead is sauna; and that vaporous effect is quite appealing. If this fragrance were paired with metallic saffron, even tobacco, it could easily become a full-on steampunk scent. I’m not usually into layering, but it might be worth a try. As it stands, it’s a very soothing and soft fragrance.

Sorry to tell you that this perfume is not what I expected. The combination of cardamom and pepper overwhelmed the other components of the core perfume. The reason is that Iceland is famous for its volcanoes, snow, springs and whales. I do not know what cardamom, pepper and sage are doing in Iceland?? I did not notice any note of steam or volcanoes, which made me very sad.

Never in my life have I waited this long to smell a perfume only to realize how different the composition would be from what I expected from the notes listed above. When I think of Iceland and Reykjavik, I think of something extremely cold, steamy, waterfalls, clean air, volcanic elements, melting ice, cold blue/black water & that huge concrete church in the middle of town. Certainly not what I'm getting in any part of this creation. To my nose, on my skin, this smells like Terre D'Hermes mixed with some sort of Sauvage elements, soapy situation, old school and sharp. I thought I'd get something more cold, airy, dirty, green & steamy, as if you threw a sauna on a bed of moss & soil - even some iris or sandalwood could work in the base note . Oh well. I have a full sample kit if anyone's interested in the EU.

We just got the entire line at my work and so far I’m impressed with many, namely Hydra and this Reykjavik, with the latter really getting on my good side!! Its green aromatic qualities are amazing with its apparent pink pepper, linking it to one of my favorite frags Dior Homme Sport 2021...and after some time drying I also get similar aspects to Roja Apex while being less stout and more wearable. From that you can assume it leans masculine and for my tastes it’s pretty damn good! Excited to get more experience with the brand in general
