Salalah (Julien Rasquinet)

Goddam this is good. That rose, plum and oud combo is beautiful. The a fruity sweet rose with a clean oud in the background. smells more feminine to me but confident men also can pull this off. Longevity is good sillage is bit loud first 30 min but after that, it moderate for at least 8/10 hours before it settles into a skin scent. My opinion this is worth the money.

This is only the first impression as this perfume is new to me. The bottle and presentation are stunning. Nice heavy weight glass colored in beautiful plum and gold and the cap is a true work of art. This has to be one of the best bottles (if not the best) in my collection. Now, Salalah is deep plum, rose and gurjun balsam perfume, at least to my nose. It comes with the card that lists the notes. Top: plum, rose essential. Heart: middle Turkish rose absolute, patchouli. Base: oud accord, gurjun alatus balsam, labdanum resoid. It is not a dislike for me, but as a fan of sweet gourmands, rose and orientals, Salalah is definitely not a love at first spray. I get very little sweetness in this so if you want something sweet then I would say there are better options out there. However, I do get a little tartness and a little resinous sweetness. I would say that it is like MFK Oud Satin Mood where sweetness is turned down with a hint of tartness peeking through. The problem to me is the performance. After two sprays on my arm I have to put my nose close to the area to smell it (and this is within the first 30 minutes after spraying). I will give this few weeks to settle and then hopefully the performance will improve. Will come back with an edit after getting more familiar with this.
