Rose And Me

How many permutations of rose does one need? Turns out, there is always one more. At one of the most beautiful stores I’ve ever visited, where every object is stunning and precious and exquisitely devoid of hollow pretension, I found Rose and Me. On my skin, the black rose note emerged, fused with potent guaiac and so many seductive nuances which gave it an almost cade oil-like vibe. The rose is hypnotically beautiful with a darkness that seduces and offends in equal measure. I’d already exhausted my perfume budget, so I left it on the shelf. Alas, it haunted me relentlessly until I returned far sooner than expected to buy it. This is not a rose for everyone, and that's okay. It is a rose for those who appreciate the beauty found in profound and complex darkness. It feels like an extension of me when I wear it. If a lovingly tended, peaceful shrine to Santa Muerte had a scent, Rose and Me would be it. This association is undoubtedly part of the reason I love it so.

Rose and Me opens with a rose & honey. From the very beginning it smells like an old church, I smell myrrh & incense (even though they are not listed). Rose and Me is amazing - full, regal, mysterious. It reminds me of Volcano by Carner (which I LOVE), however Rose and Me is definitely more rosy and less smokey. I absolutely love the aesthetic of this brand, including the bottles. They are heavy and beautiful! A beautiful but ultimately masculine woody rose. Dark rose with great depth, it has fantastic longevity and moderate sillage. Decent doses of saffron and guaiac bring a spicy woody accord that persists through the heart and drydown, drawing from what is otherwise an incredibly beautiful rose.

A very dark deep rose in the same style of Ex Idolo Thirty Three but without the oud and more rose. Heavy use of dark notes, really nice fragrance and the one that stands out from this collection

Dark, woody, slightly spicy rose. Quite sexy and mysterious; definitely more for nighttime. It’s almost a perfect dark rose for me, except for a chemical/artificial note I get running through the whole thing. I’ve seen others describe it as a “medicine” type note and I agree. I can’t figure out what it is but it’s not very pleasant. Otherwise great frag and nice strong sillage.
