Crystallised Sugar

In the initial blast I get Arte Profumi Sucre Noir - imagine pouring sugar from a sugar bag into a sugar bowl and you get some wiffs of that sugary sweetness. Shortly after on skin I get a bit of mint however all I smell in my scent bubble is even more sugary sweetness. Don’t be alarmed, it’s not a minty fragrance at all but I do feel like I need to mention it because I do think that the mintyness amps up the sweetness. After 5 minutes or so I get burnt caramelized sugar which reminds me of those rock candy sticks that look like crystallized sugar. This fragrance radiates for about 4-5 hours and it leaves an intoxicating sillage. The amount of compliments I have received wearing this has been unmatched; "oh my goodness you smell like a bakery" - "oh my gosh what are you wearing" - "it smells amazing in here" me replying back "it's me" - them replying back "oh my it is you". It’s strong but it’s not cloying or headache inducing but for sure you’ll have a strong sweet scent bubble. Seriously Crystallised Sugar makes people melt it's soo alluring. It’s interesting because I do get the exact same sweetness that BR540 has (just the sweetness though it’s not a dupe by any means) and the sweetness comes and goes. I find that BR540 can smell like candy floss at times and this is what I get from Crystallised Sugar as well. Honestly this is sooo beautiful to layer your fragrances with. I’m a die hard vanilla fan and layering this with my vanilla fragrances has been a GAME CHANGER. I just purchased my first bottle & already bought a back up bottle. This is it you guys! I don’t think it’s blind buy worthy because it might be to sweet to wear on its own but if you love your fragrances to be sweet honestly you need to try this. You might be surprised how much it changes your favourite fragrances into something even more alluring. Crystallised Sugar can make any fragrance a head turner. I’m so happy it’s in my collection! It’s my secret weapon 😉

Crystalized Sugar is a very soft, semi-salty-sweet fuzz hovering just above the surface of my skin. It also has an oddly sticky/film-like feeling as it dries right after spray-- something I've never experienced with any other perfume. Its not particularly pleasant and smells very strongly of alcohol / chemicals for a couple minutes before the ingredient starts to bloom. It indeed smells like maltol, I want to assume its a very refined version -- as their printed material would imply -- but I dont think my nose is sophisticated enough to tell. Its definitely not a cloying, sickly sweet ethyl maltol type scent. I find the whole concept to be intriguing, if a bit heavy handed with concept and less thrilling on delivery of scent. And then facing the fact that I have numerous bottles of EDP dilution of Maltol and various other IFF patented molecules is a little overwhelming. Even as an "advanced" fragrance consumer with my own collection of aromachems and EOs/Abs I am not sure I have the patience to go through the trial and error of figuring out the best ways to use this line. Partly because the time it takes to wear perfume, from spray to drydown and beyond is quite a long while so it will likely take a very long time to sort out how to combine or layer these on top of my other scents.

I was expecting something sweeter than sweet, verging towards cloying, but this is rather something burnt, 'post-sweet'. It is perhaps foremost burnt sugar, but then the bitterness of burnt toast comes to mind. It is definitely very interesting to smell on a blotter, as an item of olfactory art, and I could see someone wearing this. I think that would make for an interesting choice. Not for myself though. Avant-garde gourmand. In my opinion, it's not alluring enough. It strikes a middle ground.

I liked it at first - it is warm and sweet and smells like a slightly caramelized candfloss. However I couldn't get through the sample - you have to be in the right frame of mind to wear it and it makes you crave desserts all day! I wasn't in the frame of mind for it often and went off it.

This is so good! What a weird, true sugar scent! It's absolutely addictive to get whiffs of it throughout the day. I can't stop smelling myself. It's like the sillage is strong but projection is weak. How am I getting sillage from a skin scent?! No idea but it's so good!
