Epic Journey Into the Bottled Yonder, 084 ------------------------------------------------------- Purchased July 2019 Always loved this one, holy cow. The most manly sports/citrus juice. Somehow it's that while being a pleaser. I'm very particular about everything to do with fragrances since I was basically born into it. I never was allowed a moment of fresh scentless air unless I was outside. That's what it was like growing up, and after amassing my own collection it's mostly like that. I don't believe my sense of smell ever diminished, it's just all frags nowadays are reformulated to be extremely weak and piss poor performance wise. I've been overspraying in the past year because I really want to smell what I'm wearing, didn't have to do that once upon a time. And nothing truly smells like they used to, so compliments are no more like the old days, and people are just nasty in general. They're very cold in general and aren't bubbly and happy anymore. People used to want to strike up conversations, but they don't do that anymore. The only compliments that I get are from actually potent stuff that's incidentally modern. Why? Fucking sucks. I really don't care what anybody thinks anymore, going for the overspray and having a massive fucking collection affords me that I'll always have my beloved stuff around anyway. I never run out, unless it's a Brut or Canoe because they're the most weak performers and smallest bottles.

I first experienced Gravity as a kid in the 90s. It was one of those cheapy fragrances along with Aspen and Preferred Stock that boys received as gifts in sampler sets around holidays. Fast forward to my late high school years in the early 2000s and Gravity was my go to along with the long discontinued Stetson Untamed. Gravity to me is a nostalgic and comforting fragrance that reminds me of my teens but is just as welcome now in my 30s. It has fantastic longevity on my skin and projects decently too. I get about 4-5 solid hours from one spray on the chest before it becomes a more intimate skin scent. Note wise I always get a lovely old school shaving foam vibe, think classic Barbasol or Gillette from the 80s/90s before the gels and other scents hit. The pepper, clove, and light leather are there along with some woody citrus which I feel gives it that shaving foam profile. For the price Gravity is a major winner and I'll always have it in my collection.

As a guy who grew up in the 90's I absolutely love Gravity. It smells true to its dark blue bottle, a pseudo-aquatic if ever there was one. You have to love a fragrance that dares to marry freesia and leather in the same fragrance. Only in the 90's! It's the olfactory version of all that dark blue moon and star pattern stuff you used to see in the early to mid-nineties. People in their 40's will know exactly what I mean! I know it smells cheap. But cheap cologne, like cheap beer, has it's place. On a date with a beautiful rocker girl in her 40's; are you gonna wear Gravity and drink Carling Black Label under the stars or are you gonna drink some fly-by night hipster IPA in an overpriced bistro that used to be a mechanic's garage? I would go with the former, and bring my CD boombox.

This was my signature scent in my 20s and I just recently acquired a newer batch bottle to add to my collection. Doesn't really smell quite the same to me as it did back then but it does still smell fantastic. Very much still has the 90s beast mode, super masculine vibe that it always did. Projection is enormous. Longevity for such an inexpensive fragrance is great. Sillage is pretty good, too but it's difficult to tell if it's scent trails you're picking up or if it's still just projecting monstrously. I recommend going easy on the trigger. Two sprays max unless you want to choke everyone out, including yourself. Overall, really pleased to revisit this fragrance and have it in my collection again. Very good bang for your buck.

Everything an oriental should be.. spicy, tasty, strong. I’m 30 and yes it reminds me of the 90s.. nostalgia is powerful with this one. I find it to be amazing on clothes but on skin it tends to wear out fast. I have a newer bottle from last year (2018) and it smells exactly as a I remembered it. If there was a reformulation, I can’t detect it. It’s kind of similar to mesmerize by Avon, I like them both with this getting a slight edge. Perfect for winter wear. I don’t think I’d wear it in the summer might choke you out lol Scent 8.5/10 Sillage 8/10 (on clothes) Longevity 8/10

I used to wear this cologne. I still do but I used to, too. This was my scent in the mid to late 90's. Skateboarding, baggy jeans, listening to 311 with my hemp necklace. I bought newer bottles and they smell like I remember and have good performance. I feel like Gravity is Mont Blanc Legends older brother without the sweet pineapple note. It is the cheapest frag I have and obviously synthetic, but I don't care. I love it.

Sweet citric suede. I absolutely adore this juice. Not too sure I agree with classing out as an oriental though; although I can understand why. I'd call this the "grunge" of men's perfume. A little bit of everything good from the past thrown together into an unusual, but excellent amalgamation. I get a "shaving cream" feel to the scent as well, which is an additional bonus. Great stuff at a great price.

This is 8th grade in a bottle. As kids this was the only cologne we could afford and it was a good one. Reminds me of hanging out at arcades, sneaking into movies, tryna get laid, walking the streets at 12am back when that kinda thing was legal. It’s been years since I’ve smelled this but it holds a special place in my heart. Not discontinued, but hard to find.

I had my step dad take me to walmart back in 1998 so I could get a bottle of this. In 98 I was in grade 7 and I thought this stuff was the best smell on the planet. I used to use three sprays everyday before going to school. I still have a full 50ml that every now and then I put to my nose for a trip down memory lane.

Oh man I used to love this stuff when I was younger, before I even got to high school 😆. I don't even remember how to actually describe the scent but it was like this warm, thick, smoky powdery cloud of just awesomeness. Every time I think of it I just think of Deep Purple - Smoke on the Water. 🔥🔥🔥

My favorite of all time. Ive owned this since grade school and even way back then I had older girls who i thought didnt know my name speak to me with a smile after they smelled it. Ive been wearing it for over 25 years now and it still gets compliments. Gravity is the perfect name for it.

i wore this when i was teen i remember it being 12 bucks at walgreens... the price jumped to 22 bucks today i think this still beats out many of the higher priced fragrances as far as projection, performance and scent... i would recommend this to anyone except a fragrance snob!!

@nostalgia30 and others who like Gravity. You can get the gift set with 2x1.7oz bottles on the Kmart website for $15+shipping (around $5-6 if I remember correctly) and usually right after Christmas they drop it down to $8. It's the best deal on Gravity I have found so far.

I have had a 1.7oz for a few years and having not worn it for a spell I have to say it has aged pretty nicely. I've noticed the bit of opening harshness has mellowed out and it smells more rounded. These late Summer/early Fall evenings are just right for Gravity to shine.

I'm a fan of many of Coty's colognes and Gravity is up there on my list. Kmart has the gift set with two 1.7oz bottles for $8 on their website and it seems to be the best deal around as far as I can tell. I think it's a great easy going scent that most will enjoy.

I bought this for myself (a lady person) and my boyfriend wanted it, too. It smells good on both of us. Unisex for a certain type of woman. Definitely love to smell this on a man. I think the freesia makes it special. It's great with the vanilla and leather.

Ive been wearing this stuff for 25 years now. This is an amazing smellling fragrance . This cologne has a pleasant vanilla leathery smell...warm , spicy. Ive yet to see anyone dislike it. Do yourself a favor and get it , you wont regret it.

To the genderbent question; I can wear this fairly easily despite being female. Gravity pulls more vanilla and powdery on me, in a fashion similar to Bulgari Black. On my husband, Gravity is almost straight pepper and musk.

A bit dated smelling, but unbeatable value for the price

I must say that it was my brother's "signature scent" until he came across 212 Men. It is one he wore since his teenage years about 15 years ago. He currently has like three or four bottles of it and rarely uses his one bottle as he is not a cologne guy like I am. Now that I've gotten that out of the way, this is my review on Gravity. Coty Gravity to me is one of those stereotypical 1990's scents. You smell it and to me think 1990's for some strange reason though it isn't as 90's iconic as say Tommy, Eternity for Men, or Acqua di Gio. It also smells like a teenage scent that many of the fragcom who are 10 years older than me, likely wore as their first if it wasn't Cool Water, Eternity for Men, Tommy, etc. It is a nice inoffensive smell but boy, is it strong. This is especially true on the hour mark of first spray. I borrowed it from my brother's collection to use twice and it is strong but not overpowering like say Ed Hardy Villain (a similar spicy scent) is. I find it is a very heavy pepper scent though not too heavy like Villain or Sauvage with a little bit of icy mint similar to Cool Water Night Dive (despite Gravity NOT being aquatic at all) balancing it in the open, pretty heavy cloves in the mid and a leather and vanilla mix in the base with more leather than vanilla. It is a spicy rather than a sweet vanilla note. The scent projects pretty good with about an arm's length maybe more of sillage. Especially if you wear it at the gym like I did the first time I wore it... The second time I wore it was at a dinner situation and it was more arms length and that has been the way for wearings that haven't been in a gym. I find it will last anywhere near the three to six hour window even as a skin scent with about an hour to hour and a half of strong projection. This scent bares some similarities to David Beckham Homme with a peppery leathery scent BUT they do NOT really smell a like, they just have similar notes and performance. In another comparison, this isn't similar to Calvin Klein Obsession for Men or the similar smelling Elizabeth Taylor Passion for Men. Obsession don't smell as good on me and honestly makes me want to take a shower after I've tested it because it is harsh with my body chemistry and just stays and stays. While Passion smells really good on me, it is more fruity in the open and not peppery nor leathery. Gravity however is just a pleasant smell similar to Passion. That said, I think Passion is more me. I find Gravity is OK to wear a kick-it scent or a work scent. It isn't going to be a compliment getter like the other orientals I mentioned OR the more fruity and sweet if not modern masculine gourmand scents. If you can get it, great but I don't think this will turn heads. I find that it's really good for about October/November to early/mid April when it warms up. It may also work during colder summer nights too but be careful on that. One thing I have to say before rating it is that it seems that unlike most Coty fragrances under the Coty banner like Aspen, (formerly Stetson (and several of its flankers) and Preferred Stock), Gravity sadly is not as seen in as many stores as they are. This is even during the holiday season. Considering it is from Coty which has those as well as Adidas and Playboy scents and often they have holiday packages, I don't get why it isn't found so easily in stores unless it is in the process of being phased out. I mean you can find bottles elsewhere. This is worth a buy to try again or try for the first time, iff you can find it. I say this as the under $30 for 50 mls is reasonable. Do not buy through eBay where it is trending north of $30. IMHO the prices on eBay and sometimes Amazon are a bit high (which also leads me believe it is going away.) As for my rating, I rate it a 6.8/10. My rating is low just because there are much better in performance and scent profile whether they were in the same family or they smell similarish. Now if only you could find this in stores a little more easily than it is.

I saw it on the shelve at a local drug store. It came in that slanted cylindrical bottle it used to be in, unlike the bottle at Wal-Mart. Anyways, I definitely bought it for reminiscing purposes. In middle school, this was my favorite cologne, along with Aspen. Lol.. As a on adult, I have no idea why I thought so highly of it.. Maybe because ignorance was bliss. It doesn't smell terrible, but you need to spraynit once, wait 15 minutes, and then you get a much better representation of it. It balances the notes out better that way. It's a peppery, green/citrus vibe on top. That becomes slightly floral, like lavender with a hint of lilac or rose (perhaps that's the sage and Freesia), which eventually dries down to an animalic leathery, woodsy scent. Again, it needs to be layered as you apply it. Don't juat spray a ton on and expect it to smell great. You need to take it slow with this one. Spray it wherever you intend to have it on your body only one spray per body part, wait 15 mins, then spray yourself down again in those exact locations. You'll find it actually a decent scent. If not.. Just use it as bathroom deodorant. Lol..

Had to order this from an American website (I live in Ireland) as it never seemed to cross over to here. Indeed I asked some friends and family and they never heard of it. I'm glad I got it, there's something quite unique about "Gravity", I can't compare it to anything. Takes around an hour for it to show its teeth but is quite fiery and masculine when it does. The pepper and vanilla are the strongest notes in this for sure, although classed as a cologne it lasted longer than some EDT's I have. Silage is close to the user which is preferred by myself for more masculine scents. Br'eauDeCologne's review is spot on, it's not an every day fragrance but something good when you want a change. Nice! :) {Update} - Just to state that I received a few compliments wearing this, a lady in work who never comments on anything I've worn before walked up to me and said "I really like that" so that's a good sign!

Bracingly spicy and sweet when you first spray it, which I'm guessing is the citrus, pepper and clove. Smells similar on the dry down, but loses some of the spiciness and mellows out. Not beast mode, but you can still smell it on yourself at the end of the work day. It's very reasonably priced, too. Not my absolute favorite smell, but it's nice enough and I'll reach for it here and there, especially when my nose could use some reinvigorating from that opening. My main lowlight with this one is the bottle. The cap and atomizer both look cheap, and the blue color isn't really indicative of the kind of scent profile you're getting. Normally I wouldn't complain about either of those things much, but the bottle having both issues felt noteworthy.

My Dad goes through bottles of this stuff. Always has a bottle in his truck since I can remember. Gravity is nearly a car scent to me for this reason, and I still love it. The cloves and leather and harsh synthetics are honestly great. There is a reason this classic is still selling like crazy and is available in most drug stores. Nothing you need to go out and buy but nothing to avoid either. He rocks it in the full heat of South Florida, 365 days a year. Go figure.

I think I’m going to eventually cave and repurchase a bottle of the vintage version. I wore it in middle school and when I realized the super dorky, mustached, strawberry-blonde, gerry-curled mullet wearing, shoulder padded, toupe suited worship leader at the Pentecostal church I attended wore it...I was done. I bought a bottle of Polo Sport after smelling it in a magazine. Gravity was a gift, but Polo was what I went out and bought myself with money I made.

This is awesome! Memories came flooding in from my teens. ^_^ i'll have to hunt down a bottle and do a proper review.

Good stuff. Accidentally layered it with Aqua Quorum and it worked very well.

Very interesting stuff, my girlfriend insists this smells like fresh cucumber with a hint of woodsy notes to it, when I bought this several months ago I initially disliked it. I found overtime my palate for fragrances change, suddenly I grew a liking to it, and for only $20 how could you go wrong for an easy-wear citrus fragrance like this? I view this fragrance differently as well after learning it’s not a traditional blue fragrance, especially when it’s from the 90’s. I totally see how this may have been a hit 30 years ago, and today, I still enjoy it. The lime and woodsy notes in here make it enjoyable and very light. 90’s fragrances strike again :)

This was the first cologne I ever got that actually wasn’t a gift. I bought this my senior year of high school I think and if I close my eyes I can still smell this clove bomb. At the time I thought it was great and a huge step up from the Polo green I was gifted that seemed to be what guys in my parents generation would’ve wore. This one seemed much more for my generation and the first fragrance I really appreciated. I don’t know if I could handle it again but good memories though.

Not a blue fragrance as the box/bottle might suggest. It opens peppery with some citrus notes. As it develops, vanilla and leather come through. Gravity is synthetic smelling, but it's not bad.

Smells like actual baby powder. This powder smell is the only thing my nose can pick up on here, and that is no exaggeration. It’s as if a tiny pile of the actual powder is sitting on my skin and I’m smelling it. Maybe I'm noseblind right now.

I prefer Preferred Stock over this... This one is very sporty. Doesn't seem to last very long either.

I got this around Christmas in a Coty gift pack for $20 with Aspen, Preferred Stock and Jovan Musk and so far this is my least favourite of the 4. The notes I pick up on are cloves, leather, pepper and vanilla. All four are notes I enjoy, I just don't think they work well together in this fragrance. I've only given this a few wearings, but as of now it reminds me of the Axe body sprays everyone used to wear when I was in high school. The opening is very harsh and loud, quite cheap smelling. It dries down nicer but I still don't think it's for me.

A slightly sweet leathery herbaceous 90's style scent with a touch of something more modern... Like it has a bit of Mont Blanc Legend or Kenneth Cole Mankind. Honestly, still somewhat passable - But has that 90's "cologne" feel for sure. Reminds me of something that my ol man wore on occasion when he wasn't rocking Polo Green or Aspen (currently he likes Azzaro Wanted and Bvlgari Man). I was at a Walmart, while my family and I were up at our cabin (Northern Michigan). This Walmart will on rare occasion, have a random fragrance that I want to try. Now... Gravity was not really one of them and it is usually at every Walmart that currently exist within the U.S. But, I was feeling like smelling something "new" and of course its very inexpensive. So... A mix of curiosity and nostalgia prompted me to grab it. Something like $15/50ml. Surprisingly, the look I was expecting to get from my wife, never came. Some of you may know it... "Really, another one?" (I have to add as a side note... I think I may have finally cracked my wife's defenses. She likes fragrances, always has... Wears a couple that she has for years. But... I have slowly been able to open her mind and get her trying and buying new fragrances. She actually grabbed about 5 of them in the last 2 months on her own... So... Kinda cool.) Anyway - I wore it one afternoon while at the cabin. Not bad, but it is obviously "dated" and not something I would normally wear. If I wanted something from around this era and somewhat around this style... I would go with Drakkar Noir (close enough) or Platinum Egoiste. Anyway.... Kind of a long "review" for a fragrance like Gravity (at this point in its existence). But, sometimes having fun with this hobby means doing things like grabbing some random, cheap 90's fragrance while in some random town and wearing it just for the hell of it... For what Gravity goes for - I don't think it's a waste to buy it and experience it and others like it/in its price range. It can give insight into where perfume has been and is going. Never hurts to "broaden your horizons" - This can be accomplished by spending money on an expensive niche fragrance from a high-end perfume shop... Or... Grabbing a cheap 90's fragrance from Walmart.

this reminds me of opium pour homme , sharp zesty leather + pepper overpowers thru out , oriental clove undertone. someone compared it to bvlgari black , it does go there but theres no warm vanilla for it to get snuggly ( that is if you like snuggling into rubber tyre scents like i do ) and that pungent zest just wont let go, very much a cologne of the 90's but italian barbershop like. i had to spray quite alot on to get it going , once its on it does not budge, if you like opium pour homme, this is a very cheap option to chase it. even not in notes i smell verbena and oakmoss mandarin zest, i sadly get no vanilla, just a clove

You will either really like it, or really not. It is a (high quality) synthetic peppery vanilla with an undercurrent of lavender-ish clove and citrus. I own a couple bottles and may always keep at least one around. This is not an everyday fragrance for me. But when I have a craving for Gravity, it is there for a quick hit. It is about time this controversial dude was allowed on Fragrantica after all these years. I can't recommend a blind buy on this one but if you like it, you will probably REALLY like it. You may even love it.

The original gravity from the early 90’s was a force to be reckoned with. The smell was cheap but beautiful if that makes any sense. It lasted for quite a while too. It’s kind of like preferred stock but a sweeter version. It smells a lot like a retro cologne, but this day and age and it’s reformulation, this is now a shell of its former self. I would even gift this towards anyone. The silage is horrible and only lasts about 1 hour and longer if you put on your clothes.

Just got this in the mail and I'm very impressed. For the price it's very nice. I'd say its modern, spicy and smooth. It's not a mature scent but it doesn't smell like a kids cologne either. I think the packaging is misleading because it seems like it should be in a red bottle! It definately has a "red" vibe to it. I don't smell the similarity to Jaguar for men but it does smell similar to CK Obsession in my opinion. Value 9/10 Smell 9/10

For an oldie, this gets me compliments from women. Gravity is sweet, spicy, slightly citrusy, and leather vanilla. It’s not a blue fragrance, even though the bottle is dark blue. It projects just right without being overpowering but not weak either. Lasts all day. I’d say it’s a safe blind buy, especially for the price. It seems the 90’s were the best time for men’s fragrances being fresh and masculine.

I'd never heard of Gravity before until fellow reviewer sellersburg brough it to my attention. I like this a lot. A quality scent, especially considering it's inexpensive. Overall impression is masculine spicy scent with slight sweetness. A bit herbal and almost has an earthy violet leaf note to me. Performance is good and could work in most weather/occasions.

I actually started enjoying Gravity, thanks to Fragrantica. The truth is I always liked the peppery lime up top, but never understood the drydown until I read the notes and it made sense that it's a vanilla leather. In the 90's, I've always thought of Gravity as a blue fragrance, and the color of the bottle threw me off. It all makes sense to me now.

I know Coty's Gravity is hard to come by nowadays, so if anyone wants a similar scent, I highly recommend Axe Black, it's very peppery just like Gravity. Of course, Gravity smells better and less synthetic, but Axe Black still impressed me with its similarity.

Wore this in jr high. Figured I'd grab a bottle as it was like 12 bucks. Im thinking maybe it's expired or something because it smells sour as hell.

I'm looking for the red bottle zero gravity, anyone come across anything please let me know...

I think coach platinum took inspiration from gravity as it smells very similar imo

For me a spicy, stone cold masculine classic. Havent smelled anything like it.
