Nuance

I like this vintage very much, because it gives me a lot of fresh air, nice, aromatic hay, joyful orange blossom and rose that is aromatic, too, and cheerful dandelions. I also like the way light summer wind takes those just as light, almost transparent notes off the vase full of peaches, and drops these notes into the flowers growing in the hay, among the hay, through the hay. And oak moss here, oh, the oakmoss!.. I do like it.

Nuance as a name is somewhat of a misnomer, as this is a boldly aldehydic, spicy floral, starting off a stone fruit fanfare and leveling off with a dominant smoky violet and powdery rose, flanked by herbal aromatics. It is a big ole unapologetic perfume, even in its cologne concentration. It's dry down is the great holy chypre trinity of woods, moss, and musk, which I can never turn away. Delightful!

Floral and smoky, reminds me very much of Elusive by Avon. I have a small bottle of the perfume, which came with a beautiful chrome bottle to be worn as a pendant. I love it, it looks a lot like the Halston bottle necklaces by Elsa Peretti. The perfume is long-lasting and dynamic. I really like it, and I can see (smell) why this is one of the more expensive to find among the vintage Coty perfumes.

I was lucky enough to thrift an unopened box of this fragrance. I have been hunting for older scents as well. I am a big aldehyde lover. I adore the clean bubble bath smell. It reminds me of being a lady powdering her face and applying perfume at her vanity. I think this is just so feminine and delicate. It's warm and harkens to what the craft of perfumery is all about.

Testing today a black topped vintage, Cologne spray, I think from the 70's. This is lovely. It is very very soft. Smokey and woody, powdery and grassy, all the time being sweet without cloying. This is a lovely scent indeed.

Just got a vintage bottle from ebay with a white cap. I was looking forward to a fresh, citrus scent, as described in the main accords above. It was not fresh or citrus...it was like a dirty moss, old and stale, and the drydown turned into a dirty baby powder. Not pleasant at all. I have a very basic criteria for my perfumes - if I sniff my arm, do I think, "mmmm, that smells good" or "yuck!" Nuance was a "yuck!". Maybe this bottle turned bad? (Oh, and the bottle leaked too.) I'll try to return it.

I sat next to a girl in 7th grade who would pull out a small dabber bottle of this to freshen up after lunch. I thought it smelled just wonderful. I really hadn't thought much about it since then but recently when remembering fragrances of long ago I thought of this. I was sad to find it was discontinued. I did found a half full bottle on Ebay. Sprays on a bit harsh for a few seconds but then it mellows out to a very soft, slightly spicy, but fresh and comforting scent. Great for before bedtime and fall and spring time.

First impression reminds me of L'air du Temps. Sharp-spicy soapy-powdery, woody, floral. Vintage soapy/clean and musky. Very light. Cool to have/own/wear, but not an obsession. ;) Decent sillage from a wrist application 2-3 hours ago. That may not sound like much, but between the cologne formulation and my skin- it's impressive! ;) Like someone else-- my coworker said it's like grown up Love's Baby Soft. I personally don't get "baby powder" because I get soap. Soapy wood musk.

Recently I purchased a small bottle of Nuance perfume. I owned a bottle of edt maybe 15 or more years ago which, for some reason, failed to impress me, and so I sold it. For some reason, I decided to try for another bottle, and I'm so glad I did. This really is a wonderful, beautiful classical floral/aldehydic fragrance. I may have to hunt up some more!

I really enjoyed this. It starts off kind of sharp—smoky, dirty, woody. Then it becomes a soft, whispering aldehyde along the lines of Max Factor Primitif or Chanel N°5 eau de cologne but with a mossy aspect, not sparkling champagne or florals. Opening is kind of niche, in my opinion.

I just got this in the mail today and I love it. You can smell the aldehydes and top notes for only a few minutes, but once those fade, it becomes a soft, slightly spicy skin type of a scent. Not too powdery or musky. A lovely drugstore gem from 70s.

Nice to see a fellow SMN watcher on this forum! I noticed that commercial as well. I actually really like nuance but it bothers my allergies. If anyone has suggestions that are similar let me know.

This fragrance was advertised during the broadcast of the 1980 TV movie The Jayne Mansfield Story, starring Loni Anderson and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Forgot about this perfume till now....LOVED it. I believe this is the scent that started me on the trail to discovering spicy scents!
