Wild Ocean

If you like real, "genuine" oceanic smells : this is it. I think it’s hard to get a more representative sea scent than Wild Ocean. It even weird to say, but it’s not that refreshing, it’s even a bit dry because of that sand and salt theme going on, just for that I'd say this is a very "niche" type of perfume. It definitely does smell like iodine, sea salt, and the mist of the water hitting your face. But on a cloudy, lukewarm day near the northern Pacific coast or near some rainy tropical shore by night. It’s cold, breezy, very salty and definitely not playful or sweet, but there is still a warmth from the ambroxan or the "warm sand" accord that feels a bit more sensual on skin. I don't know if this is loaded with aromachemicals that stuff my nose quickly, or the longevity that's just subpar, but it doesn't seem to last really long, which is not a big issue with this kind of fragrance. This reminds me in some ways of Megamare, just not as powerful, Acqua Di Sale and the original Kenzo Pour Homme. If you like "genuine" aquatic accords, this is a must !!

Smelled this in France and had to buy it after to remind me of my trip. A strange fragrance! Not very aquatic in terms of the ocean, but you really do get that 'hot sand' beach note which stays linear throughout along with the ambroxan. The good thing about the odd lack of watery notes is this has a darker vibe that can work year round. A similar vibe to Azzaro's 'Shine' which also had a sand note but I didn't like that, but Wild Ocean is much more interesting.

Bought to add to my vacation fragrances I'll be taking with me this year. This is ocean and ambroxan as advertised. A bit synthetic at very beginning of opening, but that leaves quickly. Late dry down reminds me a bit of Polo Deep Blue, but this frag does have its own lane in the blue realm. It is done very nicely. I would buy this again. Lasts all day.
