Lily

This lily of the valley opens so green, crisp and delicious. Fresh snapped stems, unearthed roots and a hint of violet leaf robustness. The strength of the greenery is magnificent, but contrasted with a woody softness that is a little like clean musky lotion: creamy, a tad soapy -- I think I'd be happier with the botanical elements without the cosmetic backdrop. I do quite like this, even love, but still crave the intense crunchy freshness of Oriza L. Legrand Muguet Fleuri. This comes real close as a more affordable option and is a very well composed scent. C&E's Lily is excellent for spring or easy relaxation.

I am equally in love with C&E's new(ish) Lily and Wisteria. I never smelled their discontinued Lily of the Valley, so I had no particular expectations when smelling this. It's beautiful and unimposing. The scent is of spring flowers, crushed green leaves, and a little soap. I don't tend to find florals headache inducing, but I can't imagine anyone whould have that problem with Lily. I find that this fades from my skin after a few hours, but lasts on my clothing for quite a while. I could still find my test spray on my coat-sleeve three days later! Office-safe; sillage is minimal.

This really is such a refreshing, uplifting outdoorsy scent that makes me crave spring when it's winter and celebrate it when it's finally here! It sparkles on the skin with standout notes of lily of the valley and hyacinth with a twist of zingy lemon and lime and a soft musk base. Simple and elemental but too delightful and pretty to ever be bland. Perfect for crisp, cold days, late winter frosts, April showers and walks in sunlit-dappled woods when the bluebells are just appearing!

This is my favourite lotv perfume, so easy to wear. I agree with the word "uplifting" to describe it. i have not smelled the earlier version so cannot compare but to me Lily smells like the lily of the valley growing wild in our yard that I remember from childhood. The body lotion, by the way, is excellent--light in texture yet quite aoftening. The scent of both of these lasts all day on me.

Sprayed on some of this in the store. I was afraid it would be too strong, like I sometimes find lily-of-the-valley fragrances. But it's not. It's so soft, fresh and gentle, sometimes a little soapy (but not in a bad way). It's something you would wear with a white dress in the summer, walking in a meadow. Not sexy in any way, but innocently romantic.

it does not smell like lily, rather it's like assorted flowers. It's comfortable and not too sweet. Like it. For me, it's second to somerset meadow in the crabtree fragrance.

i'm not a green/ozone perfume lover, but this one smells perfect. i'd say floral with a hint of sweetness and maturity at the same time. thumbs up for crabtree and evelyn

found this at the back of a cabinet once so i have no clue how old it is. my first fresh-out-of-college fragrance! but doesn't quite smell like lilies, has a floral and greenish opening that's not headache-inducing. a hint of sweetness that's wearable and fresh leaves. decent longevity & sillage.

I don't like it. It's too ozonic but I didn't know why I purchased it after a few sniff. It could be the hint of creaminess, balsamic and powdery custard from the floral notes (ylang ylang) that caught my attention. Once it dried down, I smelled like a walking vegetable cooler that stood in the middle of a valley of lily of the valley. It's definitely a cooler weather perfume.

I was looking for a pure Lily of the valley scent like the one My sister had When I was a kid. I used to go and sniff her parfume bottle and really loved it! This was not it. Maybe the Old formulation was closer to the real Lilly of the valley scent. I use this as an air freshener in the bathroom so it has its purpose afterall :)

I was disappointed with this. Doesn't smell like Lilies at all. It is floral but to me is just a Rose scent even though rose it's not listed. Projection and longevity are terrible, literally after ten minutes it's all gone. Just bad quality, didn't expect that from their products.

Definitely no lily of the valley here. And totally without it's own identity unlike its predecessor, which I will miss.

I actually wanted to test Crabtree & Evelyn's Lily of the Valley, but it looks to have been replaced in 2011 with this fragrance. The sales lady in the store tried to convince me that Lily was very similar to the old Lily of the Valley. I can't draw any conclusions until I sample them both, however I can say that Lily is a very pleasant white floral. It's quite a lush, green floral scent on the skin. Absolutely perfect for the Spring weather, especially when paired with a pretty sundress. I think a lot of women will fall in love with Crabtree & Evelyn's Lily. It's undoubtedly feminine and clean. Whenever I wear Lily it makes me feel refreshed and carefree. It's a good fragrance to turn to when you can't decide what else to wear. To my nose, it smells rather soapy, which isn't such a bad thing. It makes me think of those luxurious, creamy soaps that are often too expensive to buy. The ones that lather well, and leave the skin lightly scented after a bath or shower. Crabtree & Evelyn's Lily is kind of like those exclusive soaps. There's a certain element of luxury to be enjoyed. The composition can be a little linear at times. Lily of the valley is the most dominant accord, followed by some green notes, white musk and ylang ylang. Like I mentioned before, the entire blend is quite floral and soapy. Despite the fact that Lily is as light as a feather on the skin, the longevity isn't half bad, however it does struggle to last over eight hours. I rather enjoy spending time in Crabtree & Evelyn stores, and I love the country atmosphere that the brand has created. Their line of soliflores are well worth exploring.

Definitely worth buying if you love LOTV. In my opinion, not as delicious as Diorissimo but more fresh and uplifting. It has a reasonable amount of rose scent on me especially in the beginning, but then it dries down incredibly sharp. I prefer the dry down of Diorissimo. Floral dress and curls in spring; this is your winner :).

Lovely soft fragrance I spray on after my shower at night. Very gentle and feminine.
