Pear and Pink Magnolia

I bought this for my handbag to spray in emergency situations. It’s enormous on first spray but give it 5 mins and it settles down. It’s refreshing and juicy and it is sweet. That’s the passion fruit and magnolia I guess. On the dry down it’s just lovely and floral and fresh. Like super- pleasant but not totally blow-your-mind amazing. I’m honestly not sure where the pear is in this but I don’t miss it. Interestingly, I’ve had (mostly me)n ask me what I’m wearing long after I stop smelling it on myself so I’d say it has staying power. I got the bath gel and body lotion also - delicious. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to buy this is Crabtree and Evelyn for ages, though they still sell the body products. They should bring it back!

This is nice to be sure but I prefer a creamier magnolia and this is sort of sharper. I do smell the pear but it is subtle. The passionfruit is nice. I am on the fence. It's well blended. I can see why it got high reviews, but it's nothing to get real excited about. I think they are discontinued anyway. It is strong for a couple minutes but then it dries down nicely. It would probably be a safe blind buy if you knew you liked the notes in it. Not offensive in any way.

Smells beautiful at first but then goes very sharp. Has a cold and minty quality.

When I first tried this perfume I expected to be disappointed. I have a body ph that tends towards acidic and that usually causes me to strongly throw the fruity and floral aspects of a perfume - to the detriment of all other scents in the perfume - so I figured this scent would do the same. As I initially expected, the first spray of Pear and Pink Magnolia was strongly fruity; the passion fruit was clean and juicy, but quite strong. I waited until it dried down and gave it another sniff. The dry down had turned the scent strongly floral. The floral was nice; not cloyingly sweet or syrupy. It didn't seem to be one of the scents that turned gross on me, but it wasn't really my style...or so I thought. About 20 minutes after applying Pear and Pink Magnolia, I happened to sniff my wrist again. Amazingly, not only had the fruit and floral aspect of the scent calmed down, but a wonderfully subtle spicy note from the bergamot had appeared. The bergamot was doing an excellent job of keeping the lingering fruit and florals in check - providing a decidedly feminine, but far quieter and subtler a fragrance than the initial spray would suggest. Sillage is not very strong past the initial fruit note and Longevity - like most perfumes on me - is only about 3-4 hours. However, this is one of the very few feminine florals that I've found that doesn't turn overpowering or sickly sweet on me, so I've bought the scent and I am enjoying getting to smell girly for a change.

Funny how for a "pear" perfume this doesn't have pear in any of the listed notes! It is indeed fruity in the beginning, passionfruit on top of the citrus. After a while it settles into a fruity but sweet floral. Light, fresh, not nauseating (I don't do well with white florals usually), nothing distinguishable really poking out among the rest. Is it terribly unique? Probably not. But it fits with the company's branding of offering olde English style scents and items, classy and timeless.

Interesting ingredients...knowing how a freshly cut passionfruit smells think that it would overwhelm the other ingredients? will be interested to give this a try and be proven wrong. It's all in the blending isn't it! Alexandrarae

I tested this in a local shop and remember it being a pretty fruity floral but not terribly unique.
