Wisteria

This one took me by surprise! I went to the only CT&E outlet store nearby and found myself sniffing a whole heap of scents that really didn't impress me at all to be honest. But then, over on the shelf near the back entrance, I saw a 100ml bottle of this sitting next to a 30ml bottle...I had to ask the lady what the difference was as the 30ml bottle was $25 yet the 100ml bottle was only $1 more...she told me that the reason was the new packaging, ie they're trying to get rid of the older styled packaged bottles (the one pictured above). Both fragrances smelled exactly the same so of course I paid an extra dollar for 70ml more. On me, even though it's an EDT, it lasts a good 5 hours or so...which is fantastic in my opinion! It is predominantly Wisteria and Violet on my skin, however there is a subtle Citrus, Gardenia (creamy) and musk note that evolves the longer it wears. It is simple, yet it's so very fresh and elegant and is making my olfactory senses play up big time! It projects quite well - not enormous but it's definitely noticed by others :) Very happy indeed - can't see being without this from now on. Such a clean, beautiful Wisteria fragrance that is perfect in the current Spring weather.

_Loved_ _it_ _to_ _death_!!!! I normally dislike "purple florals" unless they manage to smell warm, which is rare, though some orchid fragrances are true enough to manage that - but this Wisteria captured and fascinated me, for life. Only one little problem: bought it and the minute it was on my skin, I found out pretty dramatically (itchy rash !!) that I was allergic. So disappointed, as it's obviously a good company making this scent. Wish they'd please refine, if possible, whatever ingredient (chemical) that's causing it so I can go back to worshipping it. 'Til then, I'm on the lookout for any very similar replacements other perfumeophiles can recommend to me?? Or I'll just have to try and plant a wisteria pot here in Eastern Canada..yeah, good luck to me with that ;-) If anyone has recommendations, (especially those who knew and loved Wisteria fragrances before "Desperate Housewives"!! ;-) please write me if ya can; I'd be happy to get them! (*sigh*)

This fragrance is just lovely, fresh, simple yet elegant. The only problem with Wisteria is that it is too light. So light and close to skin that it disappeared after only 2 hours. The opening of Wisteria is a little bit too strong that makes me cringe at first. However, wait a few minutes and then it evolves into a classic,fresh,lovely and absolutely elegant scent. The scent that constantly reminded me of an English garden, of Jane Eyre and Pride and prejudice. Just simply beautiful. However, this scent later becomes warmer, expensive soapy scent which is such a pity since I love the floral opening so much :( Have to reapply through the day Still my favorite and i hope Crabtree n Evelyn won't discontinue or reformulate this one. Can't imagine my wardrobe without Wisteria.

I just found a 3.4oz bottle of the old-formulation Wisteria at TJ Maxx for $12.99, so it's safe to say that I snatched it right up, along with the body lotion and talc powder. Since I'm such a fan of light, sheer florals, I knew I would get along with this beauty. This is clean, shower-fresh type of fragrance, and it is very demure. The old formulation, which I have, is noticeably powdery. To be honest I have never smelled wisteria and can't comment on its presence here, but I smell the lily. Something about it reminds me of Eclat d'Arpege, one of my favorite fragrances. Overall I am quite pleased with my Wisteria and will be wearing it all summer.

Glorious headiness of Wisteria and Gardenia on first spray.The creaminess of the Ylang ylang enriching the composition and the background sweetness of the pear adding a supporting note.I don't detect Violet or lily but I guess they have a supporting part in the chorus.The OTT opening lasts about 20 minutes after which a muted fruity wisteria becomes apparent which lasts a couple of hours gradually morphing into a musky skin scent.Longevity is around 3 hours. The stunning top notes really do replicate the stunning scent of the White Wisteria growing up the old bricks of my house.If you love growing scented flowers you really must try this perfume.

Wisteria wasn't on my wishlist for too long. I fell in love with it at the first sniff, then after that for about 5 days I decided to purchase it as in Thailand the price is rahter expensive. Wisteria is an extremely lovely and feminine scent. I love it and this one is worth paying for. It's the scent that I can use for the rest of my life as it's not to young or not too old. I don't know what to mention more, I LOVE IT!

If anyone has a bottle of this for sale or a dupe recommendation I would be forever grateful! I found the body cream version of it in a thrift shop and it’s absolutely stunning and now I’m heartbroken I’ll never be able to get the perfume of it. It does remind me very much of J’adore but Dior, but there’s a warmth to it that fragrance lacks that makes it so lovely.

My favorite fragrance, sadly discontinued. A sweet, soft wisteria scent. Cool, fresh, light, airy, with hints of violet, lily, gardenia, white musk. I get headaches from many fragrances but this never bothered me. I hope Crabtree & Evelyn brings it back!

Refreshing. Sweet. Feminine. Unique. Crisp. It's very different from my other florals. Love it! The soap bar is really nice, too. It's how I first sniffed the fragrance -- in the milled soap. That's when I was hooked and had to have the perfume, too.

I just LOVE this scent! But why did they change the flacon? I liked the "old-fashioned" version so much better than the new "modern" one...

Absolutely love it. One of my favorites. Does not aggravate my allergies. Lotion is really nice too.

Lovely, simple and sweet floral. There is not much to talk about this perfume, so I won't. Wanted just to add that this smells lovely, and very feminine. Like wonderful flower petals dipped in some kind of honey. The scent is very sweet, but in a good way, I've always thought that flower sweetness is superior and better than gourmand sweetness. The violet here is almost dominant, but as I love violet, I must say it's not the best violet. It's little bit too metalic for my taste. UPD: Wanted to add that the staying power on my skin is amazing! 8 hours and still very strong!

This is a beautiful sweet juicy but waxy blue flower scent with a great soapy dry down. I like to wear it at night time before bed or on the weekends. In my opinion it's too pretty for an office scent. I've had my bottle for a few years, and I think it's discontinued because I haven't seen it in any C&E outlets for quite a long time. On me it lasts for about 3 hours, and although I appreciate longer lasting perfumes I'm happy to reapply when it has faded. It's a lovely perfume for wisteria lovers.

Wow! I was expecting something floaty and ephemeral, with the potency and staying power of a butterfly's wing, and this is a pleasant surprise! Oddly enough, I smell lilacs and orange blossom, and neither of them are listed in the notes- C&E's Wisteria combines the deep floral warmth of Angelique Lilas with the supreme soapiness of Insolence eau Glacee, and on me, that equals blossomy bliss... Wonderful early spring fragrance...

By now I own this scent and it's one of my favourites when it comes to Crabtree & Evelyn. I like good blue flower scents and this scent also has got something clean and nice to it. Just the staying power with me is very weak. It gives the typical Crabtree & Evelyn feeling and it's a good daytime scent, but it is not outstanding or deep.

This is lovely! Romantic flowers, so feminine. The wisteria really shines. I sprayed on skin, but since sometimes I tend to amplify any harshness with certain florals, I think spraying on clothes will make the perfume even more beautiful.

Lovely light floral scent. I like violet notes there. Perfect day office or vacation scent. Not too long lasting on my skin ((( Can be used by teens and young girls.

I think I like this one but I haven't tested it on my skin yet. It's sweet purple floral, quiete as you would expect Wisteria to smell like.

A very powdery purple floral. This has something of the feeling of wisteria blossom, but it in no way compares to the beauty of the real thing. I think the main problem I have here is with the dominating violet, I think that essentially I just don't really enjoy wearing violet. If I find some growing in the spring I will be on my hands and knees with my nose in the middle of them like some kind of a truffle-pig but when I wear violet fragrances I just feel uncomfortable in my own skin, faintly disturbed and on edge. I love a good simple floral, but this one just isn't working for me, though I can see why so many reviewers like it, it's certainly not a commonplace fragrance and it has great lasting power and reasonable sillage. I wish that the lily was actually discernable here, it would lift it a little for me. I have a few ml left in my miniature, but I'm unlikely to ever finish it. Ahh well. C'est la vie...

I wish I had liked this because I have lovely memories of wisteria, but it's too strong for me. The heavy florals combined with the soapy note smells like scented bath soap or potpourri satchels to me, both of which are nice but not what I'm looking for in a perfume. Alas, I was hoping for something old-fashioned, but not quite like that.

I have worn this one a few times, but I am not a fan. Too simple for my taste. I also prefer a lot of other floral notes better, such as rose or linden. I do love the smell of wisteria, but I don't think this perfume comes close to enticing me the way the real thing does.

I wish I could love Wisteria, but on my skin it smells too much like an old lady headache-inducing floral. Unbelievably good sillage and longevity. If this suited me, I'd be very pleased, but sadly this one isn't for me.

I love wisteria and it's my wish to have those beautiful lilac colored flowers at my wedding, preferably on a pergola, gazebo or green tunnel similar to the Mirabellgarten in Salzburg Austria. I love the nuptial look of wisteria. It's romantic, feminine, beautiful and the smell is so nice, especially on a sunny spring or summer day. This fragrance is like a romantic wedding in a bottle so I'm seriously considering wearing it on my wedding day. Pity it doesn't last very long. Why do all the best smelling floral fragrances have such a short life? It's like with actual flowers that bloom and then wilt. This is the same with Lanvin's Eclat D'Arpege. This fragrance is similar. Lots of beautiful soft purple and white flowers, like a bride's bouquet. The wisteria reigns in this garden. It's powdery and dreamy. The scent of violet is also there. Smells very purple. A white gardenia is also noticeable, and I welcome her lavishness. She's trying to get all the attention away from the wisteria like a jealous woman at a wedding. Ylang-Ylang is a nice touch, and in fact the only yellow flower here. For whatever reason it comes off as fresh and golden. It's harmonically paired with mandarin and pear scents. It's sweet and fresh, bursting with sunshine. The dry down and final phase is a light white musk. It warms my skin like it's been kissed by a hot summer sun. Again it's too bad this beautiful fragrance doesn't last too long. It's over in about 3 hours. Soothing, delicate and floral, a perfect fresh out of the shower fragrance to wear anywhere anytime. I love it. Crabtree & Evelyn make such wonderful fragrances for your home, for yourself, for posterity.

There's a few Crabtree & Evelyn stores scattered about where I live, but for some reason, testing their fragrances has never appealed to me. Wisteria was suggested to me a while back as a beautiful, clean floral, so I decided to give it a shot. I am so very glad that I tried Wisteria. It's a glorious, simplistic and clean floral blend, old-fashioned in its approach yet so graceful and demure. Sometimes all I crave, especially during the change of seasons, is a pretty and inoffensive floral to put me right at ease. Wisteria is all that and more. I adore it and it's also wonderfully fresh on the skin, perfect for Spring. I suppose you could call it a 'purple floral', however I personally tend to call it a clean floral particularly in the way it settles into a soapy and powdery drydown. I also delight in its feminine and natural touch of floral sweetness which really adds to this fragrance's appeal. If I ever bought the perfume I think I would find it difficult not to buy the matching lotion and soap to go with it. The longevity was truly remarkable, certainly better than I expected. I have tested and reviewed the EDP, so I highly recommend buying Wisteria in the EDP if you get the chance.

Fragrance Review For Wisteria Crabtree & Evelyn Notes: wisteria, lily, violet, gardenia, ylang-ylang, mandarin orange, pear and white musk. This is a very sweet and pretty perfume. Not usually the kind I like but I'm experimental in nature. This is gorgeous. It's all synthetic fantasy notes but so what. There is a fantasy note of wisteria as I have never come across authentic wisteria extract in perfumery. There is a lot of violets in this that is helping it to smell like wisteria which is purple and has a slight violet smell. The other flowers around the wisteria are white florals scents of gardenia and lilies. I do love gardenia and had hoped this would be a decent gardenia and it is clearly there. Soft gardenia though as it's not the star in this floral show. The fruitiness comes in the form of citrus and pear. Sweet and fresh. There is a dry down of musk. This is nothing to lose your mind over. It's a sweet and soothing fresh after the shower type of perfume to wear as a pick me up energizing scent to get you through the morning on Monday. It is not very long lasting and I need to spritz multiple times a day. Purely a floral so it's perfect for spring time.

I always loved the classic Wisteria. And yes, it was more powdery floral than the reformulation, but I still liked it more. I am thinking Wisteria, like some beloved Crabtree & Evelyn classics, was reformulated because of the decadent levels of some of the ingredients, like Lyral and Lilial, which now are restricted. But that was what made Wisteria so gorgeous. The powdery feel was due to Wisteria basically being a cocktail of Ethylene Brassylate and Galaxolide, with an overdose of Aldehyde C-18 (coconut). To that, some lovely floral and green was added. And yet, it worked. And it had lasting power. It was a beautiful floral scent that rivaled their also discontinued Gardenia and was, possibly, one of C&E's best concoctions. Sadly, it is gone, but if you like something different from today's overkill of Vanillin and Ethyl Maltol in everything, this is it. In fact, you can swear this has Vanillin in it. It doesn't. That is the magic of a carefully crafted scent. Wisteria hails from the days before you had to walk around smelling like a strawberry pineapple cake. If you can get your hands on this, get it.

This is a simple, but distinct, outstanding floral. It is fresh & clean, like a walk in New York's Central Park promenade around the ides of March. It might seem a bit overwhelming at first, but when it settles down, it is delightful,and has the power to "transport" you to another time, another place. It is quite remarkable. Another perfume I stole from my mom’s bathroom. Its so simple but I love it and I got complemented on how good I smell. My friend told me I smell like a mermaid. It’s a very airy, dreamy, floral. The the ylang ylang and the pear add a subtle creaminess and sweetness to the fragrance which helps balance the soapiness of the perfume. In terms of longevity, on my skin it fades quite fast but hangs on a bit better on my clothes.

A wonderful powdery floral. I agree with the other reviews that describe it as having a "clean" smell. I love to take a bath or shower before bed and use the matching Wisteria body cream and powder, and follow with a spritz of the EDT in the morning. I like how the frangrance stays with me all day without feeling overpowering. The clean qualities of the scent make it suitable for daytime/office use.

Not a fan of single florals, but this is a truly remarkable and decadent scent. Although I dont like it enough to purchase it, I respect it deeply for its unpretentious fragrance. I've never experienced the scent of real Wisteria flowers in my life, so I hope that this does smell like the real thing. Reminds me of freshly washed linens drying in the breeze.

This one is my favorite of their floral product line. It's very floral that is not so overpowering if you ain't overspray, of course. I wanna say it's a little bit fresh fruity as well; even though there ain't no fruit here. It is definitely smooth, clean, romantic, and very European.

This is a classic 'English lady scent' which evokes the novels of Jane Austen or the Bronte Sisters. Strictly floral and overwhelming in the beginning,it dries down to a pleasant and gently extravagant fragrance. To be worn with dresses and high heels, not on a daily basis.

One of the more masculine or sporty flowers. Good for the office. This smells very much like Aldolfo that was popular in the 70-80's. Jessica McClintock Jess is almost identical to this too. Update: If you like Jardins de Bagatelle, this is really similar.

Really reminds me of Aldolfo by Frances Denney from years ago. Update: It has a creamy gardenia quality, almost beachy like Jess by Jessica McClintock.
