An Admirable Feminine Floral This is the time of year that makes us think of lovely floral or crisp fragrances. I have been thinking about trying some assorted floral choices for a few weeks now, and luckily for me, I received a generous sample of this very admirable perfume. How nice to have a floral, without an overdose of synthetic smelling berries ruling the whole palette! This has a nicely put together bouquet of Peony, lily- of- the- valley, Gardenia,and a sprinkle of rose and very light jasmine. It lists black currant and pink berries, but quite honestly I think there is only a tiny trace in there! I like the way the other flowers balance out the Gardenia, as it is so fresh and appealing, not overbearing, or intoxicating. The dry down is just as elegant and feminine as the rest of the fragrant journey, even though I haven't really heard of pink patchouli! I suppose this is just a thinner, or lighter version of patch, as they don't need to make it the star player in this fragrance, as I have noticed in many of the fruity floral scents these days. The cedar and musk are just there, not pushy or overdone at all. This fragrance, in my opinion), is a terrific choice for Spring and summer. It isn't over sweet, or cloying. It is very feminine and appealing. The only drawbacks are, the price, which is very high, and the Longevity. I found it faded very quickly, but this could have to do with skin type etc. Do test it first, as nothing is more disappointing than paying for a fleeting beauty!

Fleurs de Gardenia is such a beautiful mix of familiar and interesting notes that work so well together. The gardenia is subtle and fresh and I love fostermd's describing it as an abstract interpretation of gardenia. I had not considered fragrance in this way before, but am so glad I read your review. Fragrance really is an art form and by getting stuck on what one thinks something ought to smell like, the opportunity to appreciate something different and wonderful can be missed. Back to my review...I have a vivid memory of gardenia-scented candles burning in the lobby of a hotel in New Orleans' French Quarter. Although this is a very good, happy memory, and I'm one of the people who loved inhaling a big sniff every time I entered the lobby, that version of gardenia was very much 'in-your-face!' I think Fleurs de Gardenia is elegant and surprising and I'm kind of amazed with how it's agreeing with my skin. There's a green/herbal note that I find so intriguing and I guess that might be the galbanum. At the end of even a very long, arduous day, there's a clean, soft, woody scent left, with a trace of flowers (including very light gardenia) and it never, ever becomes unpleasant.

FLEURS DE GARDENIA is an easy to wear, green, fresh, white floral fragrance. This perfume has excellent sillage, radiating more than an arm's length with an exceptional longevity -- exceeding 10 hours. The predominate notes of this white floral bouquet are peony and lilly of the valley. These floral notes are accompanied by luscious gardenias and white roses. The crisp, fresh greenness of this scent comes from a pronounced musk and cedar that are softened by resin and juicy black currant. There is a slight sprinkling of pink pepper but to my nose, no patchouli to be found. This frag really conjures the images of cool breezes, flow-y white cotton dresses, long hair blowing and fields of white flowers glistening with sun reflecting dew. Romantic and pure. I will never be without a bottle in my collection.

i've always wondered why this got so many people disappointed after all its never mentioned its soliflore, everyone can clearly see there's red pepper written and even a photo of it is addded up there- see?? nobody is lying to you or manipulating you into buying a perfume instead of extract, who would pay $150 for extract anyway? I also had problems digesting the pepper in it but it adds dimension to the scent, i love gardenia but it is bitterly green sometimes and in here its quite lovely and hidden inbetween a bouquet of other flowers i love the dry down. Oh yes, i also get so many compliments i smell so feminine, its worth every penny.

This lovely, yet expensive, gem is a mainstay in my fragrance arsenal. It is my lone "signature scent". The opening is very floral and to my untrained nose, it stays floral like a walk through a Southern flower garden at twilight. It lingers on my skin for at least four hours and then fades to a skin scent. On clothes, it has much more staying power.

Got a sample in the mail. It's lovely at first dab. Beautiful flowers, very rich. Will see how the drydown goes. It's just new on the market. Will be back to edit with my opinion. Very floral and creamy first 15 minutes plus. But, you know, gotta wait for it....wait for it....

White flower and green notes. Tuberose aren’t so noticeable for me as I don’t particularly like those notes. Unbelievable creamy base notes. Lasts forever. Pity it is so expensive. Update: tried it again and unfortunately is not for me. Found creed perfumes overpriced.

It's gardenia with a twist. Not as heavy as pure gardenia; it's lifted with all the right notes (peony, pink pepper and other florals) to make it delightful. I don't smell the patchouli at all -- a good thing, as I generally don't like patchouli-dominant fragrances.

I'll start by saying that 'Thank Goodness' this isn't an overpowering gardenia! Instead it is a very modern take on it with other pretty flowering friends to make this eau de parfum brilliant! What a beautiful way to start a new day wearing this little number.

Nice, nostalgic white flowery scent

My absolute favourite fragrance.

As a hobby perfumer and perfume enthusiast I wanted to include in my collection a soliflore of each of my most favorite flowers. In choosing them I was more than anything else looking for the perfume that most exactly smelled like the fresh living flower but just like Tubereuse Indiana does not resemble the live tuberose in my garden Fleurs de Gardenia smells pretty close to nothing like the live gardenia blossoms in my green houses. With that said, the gardenia in my greenhouse is the typical gardenia jasmoides so maybe the Creeds used a different species when they made this perfume but I tend to think that this is more of a perfumer's more abstract artistic spin on gardenia, which there is nothing wrong with. We are perfectly willing to walk through an art museum and stand in awe taking in the masterpieces of the great painters that often indeed are often more in the painters' distinct styles than they are lifelike, so I embrace this idea when it comes to perfumery as well, so while this perfume did not meet my criteria for being the gardenia soliflore that was my live gardenia blossom in a bottle it did become a great perfume that gained a permanent place in my collection from the first time I tried it on. It is a very light and soft take on gardenia. It has the sweetness and the fresh green notes without the heady white flower punch that so many find suffocating. Unlike most gardenia, tuberose and white florals its sillage is limited to just outside your personal space so pretty much only you and anyone you are directly talking to or eating with will be smelling it. But it does last a very long time. This is definitely one you can put on in the morning and not have to refresh the whole rest of the day. On the pyramid it shows it opening with top notes of galbanum, currant, and pink pepper followed by floral heart of gardenia, rose, lily of the valley, pink jasmine and peony but I would be fibbing if I tried to say that I smelled all that in the way of the top notes and heart notes because I notice it as a little different the first few minutes and then for it to develop its light, fresh, sweet, almost transparent floral heart which is so well blended that I cannot smell any of the notes that are supposed to make it up, that is how perfectly proportioned they are. So to me this is what the Creeds called the Sweetheart gardenia and really it holds on so long that although the musk, cedar, and pachouli in the base notes never get to take center stage because every time I wear it, I am still very much smelling the Sweetheart gardenia well supported and warmed by the base notes when it is time to take a bath, so I really cannot say what they smell like when the day is done for the floral heart. So typical in the perfume world, it was not what I wanted but so wonderful I ended up wanting what I found and adding yet another of many Creed masterpieces to my collection and wardrobe. Sometimes I see it offered as a unisex and other times as being for women but to me they are all unisex when I want to wear them because I believe we should always wear what we want to smell like and it saddens me that anyone would ever let the words "for women" or "for men" affect them in any way. For a lot of men this might be too sweet but for me it's not, I just like the smell of it too much not to wear it.

Lovely gardenia scent! I tested this recently and I enjoyed every moment of its average long life on my skin. To me this smells like pure greenish gardenia at first, then it becomes more mellow. I don't get any singular note of the listed ones. I guess they are used in small doses or very blended in, because their effect on the final result is to keep the whole scent lighter and not sweet-syrupy nor thick-stale like many other typical gardenia scents. I feel less than convinced about many Creeds, but this new one is very nice on me, absolutely feminine for floral ladies yet breathable and not heavy. It's a very romantic, modern perfume with a wink to vintage and classics. Perfect as a 2012 rendition of a classic theme. I especially love all the little aromatic nuances that keep coming out every 5 minutes. Not a flat perfume for sure! The sillage is average and pleasant, lasting power is ok.

Gardenia does not yield any essential oil. So all the gardenia notes in fragrance are built from ground up with either synthetics or through the mixing of other essential oils. Creed Fleurs de Gardenia does not smell like gardenia. Instead, it smells like peony. Compared to Spring Flower and Acqua Fiorentina, it is less aquatic, less airy, less green, and less fruity. Compared to Love in White, it has fewer floral notes and a simpler composition. Creed Fleurs de Gardenia is a rather linear fragrance. The lovely peony starts heavy, then dries down to a lighter, pleasant powdery scent. It is not among the most popular offerings from the house of Creed. But if you are a peony lover, this may be something special for you. If you want a fragrance that truly smells like gardenia, try Annick Goutal Gardenia Passion or Un Martin d'Orage.

Right after spraying, Fleurs de Gardenia reminds me of those vintage white flower fragrances with prominent lily of the valley, galbanum and gardenia notes. Around 10 minutes into the drydown, the fragrance becomes a little bit greener and a discreet sweetness emerges, rounding off the edges of the aforementioned flowers. I think this is a solid white flower spring fragrance that offers a vintage impression in the opening and a softer, greener side in the drydown. Essentially, Fleurs de Gardenia smells like a slightly indolic version of Estée Lauder‘s Pleasures to me. The only downside is the longevity: it hardly lasts 8 hours when worn outdoors, even on clothes where I usually get at least 12 hours.

I understand why so many people say that this is not a gardenia perfume as its gardenia scent is not as heavy as its counterparts. However it is still quite sharp and obvious that I can notice the gardenia note in the first instance when I smelled it. I have been looking for a gardenia perfume for a long time but those on the market are not my cup of tea. Their gardenia smell is too heavy to me. Either they are too mediocre. But this one is an exception. It has a gardenia scent not so strong probably because of the green notes but obvious enough for me to recognize that this is a gardenia fragrance. Creed never disappoints me.

A very soft and feminine white floral fragrance. This isn't a screechy floral. Subtle, creamy and beautiful. A lot of white floral (and especially gardenia fragrances) have a lot of tuberose that shines through, which I'm not the biggest fan of. This one, I'm happy to say smells of gardenia with a hint of pink pepper. It's beautiful, but not particularly unique or complex, especially for the price. Perhaps worth collecting if you're really into gardenia/floral fragrances. Sillage is soft to moderate.

Interesting. I agree it smells of Pleasures, but with a very natural dirt smell in the background. It’s the smell of freshly dug earth with a touch of mossy greeness. The metallic freshness contrasts this earthiness, making it unique. Not getting much gardenia. I’m not crazy about the purple bottle, it doesn’t seem to match the scent. This could be personal preference though. I’m still undecided if this is full bottle worthy. Definitely a like though.

This is surprisingly sweet - I have a sample from Neiman & Marcus, and wasn't expecting the notes 'green' or 'fresh' on the Fragrantica Main Accords. It is definitely feminine and jasmine with a creamy musky, amber sweetness. It's nice, and I'd recommend it to anyone but the price point is too high for me so I'll stick to the free samples when I can get one. :)

I agree with pretty much everything Mellyhelly said below. Really lovely and not a cold scent on me like most creed frags are. If you like white florals, give it a skin test and you may be pleasantly surprised, particularly if other creed florals have left you less than impressed.

This is a nice fragrance, but I really wish it had more gardenia, in it. I get a lot of green notes, and many different flowers but not too much of the gardenia, it is a very nice floral perfume, I do like the combination of fragrances together.

The best gardenia fragrance I've tried. Lily of the valley is there also and others, but the star is a bright fresh gardenia.

This is not a gardenia. This is diluted Estee Lauder Pleasure with green herbs. Beautiful, gentle but not worth a bottle.

This one smells like gardenia laundry detergent. I like soapy scents, so I enjoy it, but it's a lot of soap/detergent.

A fresh gardenia fragrance that is not heavy at all. The black currant, pepper, and green notes keeps it light and very clean. The other floral notes are barely detectable but work more as an accent to highlight the gardenia, which stands out to me. Compared to something in the same vein of a fresh gardenia scent, like Liz Taylor's Gardenia, this is not very green at all. There is a little bit of sweetness here rounding out the fragrance, keeping it smooth. But unlike something like Chanel's Gardenia, it's a little muted and lacks a little sparkle or something to make it stand out. And while it does perform very well, as I was wearing it, I kept getting the same feeling as if I just washed with a floral soap or just washed my hair; almost as if I wasn't wearing a perfume at all. Some might like that, but for me, especially at the prices being asked, there has to be something more. I also agree with the similarities to EL's Pleasures in the This Reminds Me section. This smells very much like a lighter version of that. Since I already have that and happen to like it more, this is a pass for me.

Opens hairspray. Within 3 minutes it dries to a lovely, gardenia heavy floral. I see them listed, but I'm not getting enough pepper, cedar, or patch that I'd vote them in there. If there's galbanum it's not nearly as dusty as it usually is. The musk is very soft, more of a generic base that's almost a skin scent than musky. For a pricy gardenia I prefer Chanel's; this is more of a gardenia heavy floral blend than a soliflore. Broadly wearable, office safe, modest projection of the floral notes.

I think my skin is amplifying the Peony. That might be the reason why it reminds me so much of Versace Bright Crystal. It is an okay perfume, very pleasant but I can't imagine paying for the exorbitant price even though it is 25% discounted. I didn't get any gardenia at all. :( Update: Surprise! I got gifted this and it has become one of my favorite everyday scent. It smells light and clean.

Gardenia and pencil shavings, that's what I smell. Must be the cedar. I agree with another reviewer that gardenia feels a bit old-fashioned these days. I have this in my collection but I never reach for it. Will probably de-clutter and give to my mom.

I am not sure I get gardenia but more of fresh florals.

I had the chance to try Creed Fleurs de Gardenia recently while travelling to Manchester.I love gardenia very much so I am always try to find the best and most true gardenia scent. Creed's latest creation is all about...black currant!There is a very light,faint hint of gardenia for a few minutes and then I only smell some fruit,in fact black currant!I am so disappointed,this fragrance reminded me of mainstream fruity scents which refer to young girls and teenagers!Apart from the that,the lasting power was so bad that it made me angry!For that price range I was so expecting much more!If I could rate it it would get a 0/5.Generic,boring and a crowd pleaser..

I don't often write negative reviews, because I can see the artistic merit in most perfumes, but this one left me thinking 'why bother'. The okay synthetic pink pepper + gardenia-like opening dissipates within half an hour and you're left with this peppery, curry powder like base. It's not feminine nor very nice. Who wants to smell like the air conditioned spice aisle of their local Indian grocery store?

I have reviewed this fragrance before. According to the notes I should adore this but I really, truly dislike it. I have a small (30 ml) eau de parfum with it's box. If anyone is interested in a sale or swap please send me a message. I'm in Sydney, Australia.

I don't like this Gardenia at all. It is so light and green and it smells like a cheap, floral air freshener on me. I much prefer the Gardenia Passion, Annick Goutal. If anyone would like to do a trade, I have a bottle that is practically full.

I tried this from the Creed SA at Dillard's, and it smells like a fragrance that has turned.

I own Patou's Un Amour and there is no way that that smells like Creed's Gardenia. Un Amour is a beautiful and unique woody floral w/ lily of the valley, aldehyde and rose. Creed's Gardenia is a cheaper version of Estee Lauder's Pleasures. Pleasures is a perfume I really dislike; it is not a "pleasure" for me to smell anywhere or anytime but I would rather smell Pleasures than Creed's Fleur de Gardenia. Fleur de Gardenia is a screechy, green fake flowers w/ cedar wood shavings hot mess. I just tested Chanel's Gardenia and that is a nice green but slightly sweet fruity w/ coconut gardenia. Nothing here to remind me of Chanel Gardenia here either. If you like Estee Lauder Pleasures you will like this but why bother? Pleasures cost next to nothing and Creed's perfumes are expensive. If you like this seek out a bottle of Pleasures, blind buy it and compare them side by side. You can hardly tell the difference between the 2 except Creed Gardenia has a cedar dry down.

The gardenia is an "old" note for me and this really smells like something made in the '40s. Which is not bad per se, but it's not my cup of tea. It's truly a classic fragrance, so much so that I think it's not very easy to appreciate if you're very young and not used to this kind of perfumes. Having said so, I totally respect the perfume house that makes it, Creed is an authority.

A gorgeous gardenia mixed with peonies. It isn't indolic or particularly "white flower " style. In the beginning it starts fresh, almost green, almost juicy. Then a shadow of the typical Ceed base appears, though not as strong as in other Creed scents like Fantasia de Fleurs or Tuberose Indiana. Still, I can sense it. Then toward the drydown it turns into fancy soap, but it is a creamy style, and I actually like it. The perfume seems strong in the beginning but it fades and goes through all notes rather quickly. It is a delicate, elegant and feminine floral perfume, very classy. The bottle wants to appear more modern with the splash of violet color on the bottle and the lid. It is a more modern take for a Creed, but still , the best I found from Creed remains the newer Iris Tuberose , which is almost like a sister of Carnal Flower. But Creed Gardenia is beautiul too.

I agree that it similar to Chanel Gardenia but it’s not exact dupe, Chanel is more fruity compare to Creed is more green and soapy clean almost like detergent like scent. Chanel is sweeter as well, compare to creed that has galbanum and lily of the valley green notes like. Also I feel like Chanel can get a little nauseating from sweetness, while creed is a bit powdery at dry down. In the end they both have something similar but are very different. If I had to pick one I’d say Creed because I feel a bit nauseous from Chanel right sniffing it so much for the review. Also I can smell coconut in Chanel and there is no coconut in Creed

I agree with karlovonamesti- this fragrance is more about peony than anything else- black currant, cedar, and muguet are adding their harmonies as well- That being said, this is one heck of a lovely peony- (and I'm not a big fan of peony, as a rule) and black currant, which often smells too sour on me, is just adding some nice piquancy to the mix- This fragrance seems very nicely blended, overall- It would be nice if it smelled like gardenia, though, wouldn't it... - this fragrance smells like late winter/early spring to me- it fits this winter thaw that we're having, somehow

I am testing some Creed fragances and this one is the worst of them all. I must say I quite like the others. This Creed doesn't match with my skin and I don't like it at all. I smell flowers but with a wood note back that kills it. Maybe the combination of patchouli and musc with the cedar suffocating everthing else. This is a masculine smell and a really really odd one. I couldn't say I smell gardenia, at least not the gardenia I know here in Europe.

I do not like this take on white florals at all. The gardenia is completely overpowered by a mishmash of other notes which I find discordant. It smells unpleasantly candied and green rather than lush and creamy. It is linear on my skin. Fleurs de Gardenia smells *nothing* like Forever Florals Gardenia or Amouage Honour, which are truly beautiful favorites of mine. The more I smell this, the more confused I become. Why was this made?

As someone with a living gardenia flower in a pot next to him, I can attest to Sunflower77's assertion that Fleur de Gardenia in no way smells like gardenia. It does smell like a massive "fresh" peony floral, and a lot of its freshness comes from the pink pepper and soft herbal notes underlying everything. Not the most complex floral in the world, and certainly very nice, but disappointing because gardenia smells better than peony.

Fleurs de Gardenia is a very fragrant, beautiful and lovely fragrance . Imagine entering a luxury flower garden in a French Châteaux ! This is it . Also if you are interested in flowers and gardening, this fragrance is a unique choice for you . Fleurs de Gardenia was launched in 2012 . Perfume longevity : High - Suitable for all seasons, specially for spring . Dominant notes : Gardenia Flower & Pink Berries .

Very nice gardenia scent, quite rich, though not sharp. Not that I find it easy to wear all year round, but in its class, it avoids being screechy, and headache inducing...which happens with most gardenia fragrances for me... This is quite green, and overall though a spring/summer scent, I dont feel now in the freezing cold it is soo nice to wear!!! I don't get any fruits, it is all floral to me..!

Not the most realistic Gardenia, but does it have to be? This is a bouquet of gardenia, little peony, little jasmine, and greens. Wonderful, full, rich, floral aroma without being too much. Dry down - same aroma but very soft and pleasant. I think lots of ladies will appreciate this one.

pretty...with a coolant aspect that's pleasant/refreshing on a warmer day....i've only had it on for an hour and already feel it evaporating from my skin...I fear longevity is this perfume's nemesis. Pretty, but for a real, wearable, and longlasting Gardenia, visit Chanel.

Gardenia with something akin to clarified butter. The butter, to me, makes the scent warm and heavy rather than fresh floral. May be pretty on others but not on my skin chemistry. One dab on me Sillage: close to skin Longevity: 2 hours Rating: 1/5

I definitely smell the pencil shavings as well. My husband wears it better than me ! I get a vintage style of flowers it’s kind of fresh but not enough for me. Conclusion if you’re a men try it if you are not afraid of florals

Probably my favorite Gardenia. Maybe tied with Elizabeth Taylor's, in the green bottle, if you can believe that! Opposite ends of the price scale. You never know about those cheapies, do not dismiss them!

absolutely beautiful scent. on my skin its an inoffensive fresh floral bouquet. at first sniff, i just got to have it. a unique floral fume. for floral lovers out there, you wont be disappointed.
