Royal Scottish Lavender

Creed Royal Scottish Lavender, like many of the discontinued Creed freshies, has an allure, a classic charm about it that distinguishes from some of the house's more recent, more ready-to-please entries. The note breakdown is rather straight forward: bergamot on top, lavender in the heart, and sandalwood, vanilla, and "spicy notes" in the base. It has a sharper opening, no doubt due to an unadulterated dose of bergamot, with the lavender itself, after which it dries down into a woody base, the vanilla serving not so much to truly sweeten the mix but just to keep it from remaining as harsh (only slightly) as at its onset. RSL is a superior performer to most of the Creed freshies, newer or discontinued, and it fits both into the freshie realm and the woody realm, as, particularly after the initial acerbic buzz wears off, it's a mellower, more year-round woody mix. I initially didn't think I'd like it but it won me over in a few hours. 8 out of 10

Dont think theres much i can add to what others have already said. Ive owned my bottle boxed with everything for about 10 years and probably sprayed it three times, every time has been a wedding of someone. For lavender, its the only one i own, and like. Certainly gives me a Barbershop vibe, crisp and fresh, clean and feels high status. I dont wear it often as stated above, not something id reach for on a daily basis, but perhaps that may be because i know i will be lucky to find more. This will probably last me for centuries!

A mon nez, ça ressemble à Royal Water mais avec de la lavande. Quelques notes qui ressemblent aussi à English Fern de Penhaligon's dans les notes de tête, mais qui ne durent que quelques secondes à peine. Je préfère cette merveilleuse senteur à Royal Water car j'adore la lavande! Senteur de propre linge frais et du printemps fleuri à l'été frais et ensoleillé. Très bien dans une température chaude et même fraiche. Je consacrerais cette merveille olfactive exclusivement pour le jour. Du Royal Water en mieux car de la lavande... Seul bémol, ça ressemble plus à une eau de toilette qu'une eau de parfum; légère avec un sillage modéré et une longévité très moyenne. Excellent quand même. J'aime beaucoup! 4/5

Like everything Creed makes this is a high quality fragrance. It very much smells like many of the other fragrances I have sampled that came from the same time period. It is powerful at first with the lavender and spices really being the main notes I smell. After an hour or so it smells nice, but I could only see an older woman wearing it.

Hi all - this is my first ever review. I was lucky enough to acquire this vaulted Creed scent last year from a frag fan. There seems to have been something of a mini-lavender revival lately (not least, including Creed's own Acqua Originale Aberdeen Lavender) which makes this scent feel very 'current'. You can pick the citrus up straight away, but this is immediately taken over by the lavender, which stays right through to the end, but tempered with the sandalwood and spice. I've always associated lavender as more of a feminine, soothing and relaxing smell, but in this, it feels very masculine and makes a great winter scent. I would disagree with some of the other comments about projection. This has lasted on my skin for around 8 hours and sillage is good enough for people in my office to question who has lavender on. To this end, lavender itself is very much a marmite olfactory note - people either love it or hate it. Now it's vaulted this only comes out maybe once or twice a week in winter rotation only, but its nice to have something that's rare and beautifully crafted.

"Royal Scottish Lavender was launched in 1856", re-he-heally?!!? And can somebody PROVE this? Can someone provide us with a SINGLE solitary example of a Creed fragrance from ANY year in the 19th century? Seeing as how this is supposed to be a "non-fiction" reference website; can anyone tell me why Fragrantica finds it necessary to pass along Creed's nonsensical bullshit marketing fairy tales? That aside, despite not being much of a "Creed fan" I would LOVE a bottle of this. More out of my love for barbershop scents than anything. Not sure it's worth the price, but I'm sure it's some nice juice nonetheless.

Lovely, warm, woody spicy lavender. Very light scent. When you first spray it on the lavender has that bitter English lavender tang. Wait for it to calm down in the drydown and then you will love it. This has almost no sillage and is definitely a skin scent, but I find this to be the case with many of the older more traditional Creed scents. I am enjoying my nice decant and find it to be a calming and comforting scent. But I would not pay the huge price for a full bottle, which is just as well since it is discontinued anyway.

Start is a citrusy blast with a hint of spice. There is a brief hint of Royal English Leather that disappears and the fragrance develops a smoky note as well. Drydown to me is a spicy lavender and sandalwood. Very pleasant. Spice note makes me think of Chevrefeuille but on a less intrusive octave. Overall yet another wonderful Creed fragrance that has been discontinued.

Haven't smelled or tried this fragrance, just wanted to point out that 1856 must be a typo. 1956 fits with the timeline of the company properly, and I'd bet that's the correct year.

My sample opens with lemony lavender and dries down to a powdery patchouli/rosewood. It almost smells like Oriza Legrand Lavender + Horizon, shaken and aged a few months.

This is Bois du Portugal. They discontinued this so they can sell that. If you want this really bad, just get that and you'll be set.

Creed desided to discontinued...too bad :-(
