Vetiveria

I'm sampling through the entire line because there's a good sale online for the discovery set (8x3 ml). FYI the current available price (i.e DISCOUNTED on some sites) is about $225 USD for a $50ml bottle, not 8.5ml ... not sure how the reviewer below came up with the number. Not cheap at all (common amongst natural perfumes), but certainly not liquid gold cost. And tbh I'm very impressed. Disclaimer I do like vetiver, but discerning about how the material is presented. Here the vetiver is stripped off of its grassy, damp characteristic and strongly paired with orris and mastic. The overall impression is leathery and violet, with a dry, bitter early background. I can sense the "coconut" note - it keeps the scent from being too dry and lubricates the powder on top of wood and grass. That note is similar to Mona di Orio's Dojima if one's familiar. In summary a unique vetiver that's not done to death (think Encore Noir, Vetiver Tonka, TF Grey Vetiver, Hermes TdH, Girl...) and stands on its own feet while managing to be wearable. Big like!

This is the classiest scent I own. Look on my page and just briefly consider that.1 to 2 sprays and you become ultra enigmatic and aloof, with an air of superiority. It doesn't scream, but it dispenses the sexiest sillage in my collection. The complexity of this fragrance is applaudingly brilliant. Longevity is superb. And it's versatile, though maybe not in blazing hot weather... In regards to its profile, is it THE best vetiver? Hard to answer. Is it just another vetiver in a sea of vetivers? Absolutely not. Is it a must have vetiver? 100 percent. BUT, if you're, like myself, a vetiver fan. 10/10.

This is for vetiver obsessives only; all others need not apply. I don't doubt that there are other notes involved, particularly the notably delicate greeness of mastic and darts of woodiness peering through. But it's largely vetiver and more vetiver in its damp, slightly bitter, and loamy rather than dry and grassy form. At $245 for an (admittedly pretty) 8.5ml bottle, Cultus' pricing is most likely a marketing tactic and also a dare: how much will you spend to smell like upscale peat moss? Answers will vary.

I tried this recently on skin and I can confirm it 265 for an 8.5ml and 565 for a 50ml. Obviously, that's a lot of money, but this is so good, so concentrated, so long lasting, so vivid, I'm having trouble labeling it overpriced. The cost is steep for a vetiver dominant scent, but it does contain natural sandalwood and fossilized amber which is not cheap or easy to distill. Another level above typical niche and into ultra high quality artisan territory. I've tried the entire house and this was far and away my favorite. Uncompromising and stout, with just smidge of the softer ingredients to make it wearable, while not interfering with the earthy raw character Scent 10/10 Performance 9/10 Update: I bought a full bottle with a hefty discount. No regrets
