Villa Ausonia Cologne

I have the scent "Ausonia" which, on trying to look it up, I think is the same thing as Villa Ausonia. Maybe the newer name? I have been purchasing several discovery sets recently and came across a code for a half price C&S one, so I went with it. While it's clear that this brand is more focused on the "gentleman" side of things and their fragrances tend to lean more masculine, this is one of a few unisex scents they offer which I absolutely love. I bought the feminine discovery set and this was in it. Along with their "Neroli", this is one of the best fresh scents I've so far encountered. Very sparkly with the top notes and the apple gives it a hint of juicy cleanness, but with a woodiness that steers it firmly into Unisex territory, but not overly so. Very wearable by anyone and in my opinion, absolutely gorgeous and expensive smelling, no hint of air freshener, or shower gel vibes here, which I often find with a lot of freshies. The only issue for me is the longevity, unfortunately. I only get a couple of hours tops out of it, and it's not one that projects greatly either. For that reason I'd say it's a bit overpriced, but I bought a 10ml rollerball of it for £25 in a sale which I don't think is massively unreasonable. £40 for the normal price of it would have been though.

I remembered a long forgotten visit to a pine forest in Vagamon after trying Ausonia. Pine forest smell in Vagamon was woody, very faint citrus and clay/earth after a rain. Ausonia captures the beauty of pine forest perfectly though it opens with Apple & vanilla with an aquatic as well as a camphorius vibe. In a world where so many scents smell similar with common notes and run of the mill stuff, Ausonia smells expensive, rich and unique as well. Perhaps its because of many different notes like the aquatic, fruity & woody note blended superbly. Vanilla is long lasting here well into the deep drydown where as the woody note becomes faint but remains traceable throughout. Certainly among the best scents I have tried recently and the second best from C&S after No 88. This is nostalgia. Bottled. Try it.

Now just called Ausonia, an EdP and it’s excellent! Fresh pine, crisp airy aldehyde, sweet apple, bit of lemon and slight vanilla musky dry down. This is what Layton wishes it could be. Great warm weather fragrance but I can see this working almost all year. The opening and mid last a long time, in at least traces all the way until it fully disappears. The opening can be slightly harsh up close but once it settles in, it’s amazing. I wish the base was more woody. Firmly unisex imo. I’ll likely buy a roller of this so I can stick it in my pocket and top off after a few hours. One of the few brands that sells them. I need to test it more, just the sample sprayer right now but I’m getting 3-4hr in moderate heat. C&S definitely has some pretty unique scents in my limited experience. 8.5/10

This is really lovely. Very much a Barber scent, with a Forrest leaning vibe. I say unisex but if your into traditional feminine perfumes, you might find this more "masculine". I find this perfect, cheerful and uplifting!

Very nice, expensive smelling fresh fragrance. In the vain of something like AdG but slightly different. It smells "grassy"and fresh with nice lemon balanced with green apple and vanilla and the aromatic, green bitterness of the fir/pine. It also has a slight marine/aquatic vibe...reminds me of being on the back of a boat with the wind lashing you and the spray of the water. Nice fragrance and great for warmer weather.
