Chocolate+

Dame Perfumery Chocolate+ Eau de Toilette for women and men is a more intense and concentrated fragrance composition using the same essential oil formula as my original Chocolate Man Cologne from 2016. Same ingredients, with differing concentrations, projection and lasting power. Both amazing.

This is a gorgeous powerhouse literal chocolate truffle/ ganache scent! It’s sweet but not cloying. It’s not a milky chocolate like Chocolate Greedy or Wicked Good which makes me think of tootsie roll or cereal. This is a fancy decadent chocolate.

As stated in my review of the lower-concentration Chocolate Man cologne: "A melty, malted milk chocolate bar with a thick and gooey consistency. Think chocolate syrup, brownie batter, fresh fudge. Underlying the chocolate is a strong bitter coffee note, amplifying the chocolate accord but itself peeking through slightly. As the coffee fades in the drydown, it gets replaced with a woody and gently spiced cinnamon bark. Strong initial projection fades over ~3hr, longevity 12hr+. Much like Maison Tahite's Cocoa2, this is so purely chocolatey that it borders on novelty. Probably a better layering piece than standalone fragrance. I also personally dislike coffee; I think the coffee could be toned down to achieve the desired chocolate-boosting effect without standing out on its own." Chocolate+ EDT smells identical to my nose, except the performance has gone from "strong" to "absolutely nuclear." That's really all I can say.

This is straight up dark chocolate. I think it smells softer an hour after spraying. There is no perfumy smell. Not sure I want to smell like edible chocolate chips. From this line, I think I like the chocolate milk best.

Testing this blind (mixing the samples in with other samples from different houses), it came across as a syrupy, but respectful gourmandy fragrance. Definitely chocolate, and I enjoyed it more than the others blends which never felt right. It isn't a cacao aromatic fragrance, so don't expect that. Its more the air of high quality melted chocolate candy; rich, sweet, and thick. It isn't juvenile, but it is far off pace from projecting any sense of luxury or sophisticated blending (which is what I thought I was getting). Useful I imagine for layering, which I might consider, or just for the fun of it by itself if you want to smell like you have chocolate cake sitting in your pocket. Edit 9/4/25 I take what I said back. All of it! In an accidental second blind test, I found the opening was over the top chocolate, and a hint pungent underneath, rich but cloying and like wiping yourself with Betty Crocker chocolate frosting (this is not a good thing, unless you are physically doing it and have help taking it off!). The dry down is a bit better, with some wood tones coming up, but I also get the sense of Shea butter and a lot of it, making it feel to me like cheap mall body lotion. Much later in the day, it's essentially the same, but thankfully has mellowed to something more balanced, but still a bit dusty and off-putting. It is a bit juvenile (sorry). There's no perfumery going in here for me, just blatant chocolate river, don't get suckered for the golden ticket Wonkaness here, no balance, no orchestration. Rather it's like a Mahler fan boy, all in your face, with no meaning behind it. Its redeeming quality is longevity, lasting quite well, and possibly as a base for mixing something more (or is it less).

Recently got a sample of Chocolate+ Eau de Toilette and am really enjoying it. Just now ordered a full bottle. I plan to layer it with some of my gourmand fragrances to give them a little more depth and grounding without amping up their sweetness. This chocolate is good enough to be worn alone, though. I can't imagine a chocolate-lover not being enamored of it. Another score for Jeffrey Dame/Dame Perfumery.
