Soliflore Peony

I don't know why I waited so long to sample this one, it's beautiful. Yes, peony is rose-like, but not a clone, and Dame's work is as close to the real thing as you will find. I still wish he'd do a Dame's Rocket soliflore.

A watery, uplifting pink floral. Kinda rosy, kinda lily-ish, a little heady, a little soapy. Surprisingly moderate projection for 2-3hr and produces a nice scent trail, 6-8hr longevity. Pleasant and girly. Does this actually smell like peony? Heck if I know! Is that what peonies smell like? I bought it for a friend whose favorite flower is peonies because everyone raves about how realistic Dame's soliflores are. Well, maybe she can tell me when I give it to her, or I should head to the nearest flower shop.

Agree with OTA Mom, this is well done. Peony is often a difficult note, rarely smelling natural. I like this scent best when it’s 12” or more away from my nose. Like others in the soliflore line, this is great for layering.

I agree with the first reviewer wholeheartedly. To me, this peony smells like rose tea, with a bit astringent botanical bite, as if you’re chewing the green calyx. Weirdly, I sense a hard industrial fatty-soapy tone underneath, which also appears in some other Dame’s perfumes. In most time it blends in softly as a regular soapy note, but if you’re getting too close, you’ll feel like pushing your nose into an industrial soap bar. The floral part alone strongly remind me of Floris. Not of any of its perfume, but its hand cream or mouthwash. They gave out this “rose centennial” scent: rose tea with slightly astringent green calyx.
