Tabu Rose

What a pleasant surprise this was. I'd seen it on sale at Rite-Aid in the US, and rushed over here to see how it was rated. Based on what I read, I went back a day later to get it. Yummy. I love it from start to finish! It doesn't smell like other rose fragrances I've had, but the way it blends with the fruity part of this is kind of intoxicating. It's much sweeter than most of my favourite scents, but the sweetness is like something far away and exotic. After a couple of hours it takes on a more woody note and seems to be done with the fruits, but it's still dreamlike and mysterious. For the money, it's well worth it, it's not derivative and doesn't have that cheap generic note. Edit: Unbelievably I have gone through HALF the bottle already. In about six weeks. lol. Second edit. This is annoying. I had half a bottle left and it all evaporated in just under 2 weeks. I now have an empty bottle and I can't understand why. When I pick it up, there is perfume oil leaking out all around the top of the bottle. It's been standing upright on my dressing table. Next to it was an apple and my daily pill box, both of which taste like perfume right now, lol. I've never had an atomizer spray before so don't know from experience if this always happens with atomizers. Oh well, easy come easy go. It won't stop me from buying it again but I need a solution to the evaporation.

Affordable & Wearable Modern Rose... While not a dupe, this has a lot of similarities to Chloe EDP Chloe and Delina Parfums de Marly, with a fruity, fresh and slightly tropical rose over a petrichor rose, that sweetens over time picking up some near-honey tones. This doesn't have the tart rhubarb note as in Delina PDM, but there's a soft shampoo-like vibe here that reminds me of Chloe EDP, and so I find it a little closer to Chloe EDP Chloe. There's also some passing reminders of Body by Burberry range, also by Michel Almairac. Although there's nothing groundbreaking here, and no similarities to the original Tabu Dana, overall at a mere fraction of the price of Chloe EDP Chloe, this is a very affordable, wearable modern rose scent. It's a love for me. Enjoy! Update 03/23/24: The shampoo vibes are leaning a little more soapy, and the cedar note combining with the rose is reading like something close to freesia. It remains a love. Update 07/30/24: This really shines in the heat, and has gotten a lot sweeter with aging. I find it even closer to Chloe EDP Chloe now. Tropical fresh & powdery rose that dries down with near-honey & tea tones and a faint soapy note in the background. So good.

I just love this rose scent. It's so nice. Not stuffy, not too much rose, not powdery. It's a sweet balance of notes - rosey, fruity and to me, a staple rose fragrance. It's also a great fragrance for layering with patchouli or incense scents. I agree it's similar to Chloe Roses De Chloe - love them both. And this Tabu Rose is a fantastic value and well done, and as noted in reviews it does tend to leak so might want to transfer to atomizer and keep bottle for it's crazy-cute retro look.

Delicious! I'm having a hard time removing my nose from my arm. The fragrance is soft and clean, ultra feminine. Sweet but not cloying. Definitely a keeper. *As another poster wrote, my perfume also quickly evaporated. For anyone who, like myself, never before had a perfume with an atomizer, do NOT leave it in the bottle. It looks really pretty, but it will cause your perfume to leak everywhere and evaporate. When not in use, remove the atomizer and put the black cap back on the bottle!

Wow! This stuff is AMAZING! It is rosy, yes. But so much more! It is sweet and warm with the litchi and amber. It smells almost edible! And it has a touch of freshness from the cedar. It is so so good! Sorry that I've missed this beauty for so long. And the bottle is absolutely adorable! But, I have to say I don't see any resemblance to Roses de Chloe or Gotte de Rose....both of which I own.

Tabu Rose is an excellent flanker. It opens as a sweet, non-powdery rose, quite strong and natural, with a touch of fruit. Then the woody/amber accord emerges, giving a slight impression of the original Tabu, but not taking over from the wonderful rose. This is a sensual, womanly fragrance. My partner thought it was extremely sexy. Longevity is great (12 hours), with good sillage.

Wanted to buy a full size bottle but it's not on Dana's website. C'mon Dana make this again! Please. I only have the little tiny bottle. This is a perfect rose scent!!!

Perfect- rosey- effervescence. For me this is one of the best rose perfumes I have ever smelled! Lovely!

This is one of my favorite blind buys. I have never seen this in the stores, or have seen any advertisements. I saw it on an online discount perfume e-tailer and looked up the notes here. Looked safe enough to throw down $12. Best $12 spent in a long time. This is a bright, clean and very wearable rose. Does not come across as stale or musty which some rose scents can. It has an airy crispness to it, very refreshing for a floral. It's not earth shattering, but it's safe in close quarters without being boring. Sillage is soft and longevity is about 5-6 hours on me.

Rose is my favorite note. This is a bit weak and watery. It's nice but mainstream and unremarkable. It's like a green rose watered down with some vanilla. Nice, safe. It develops a little more in the drydown and warms with the amber. Not a gourmand or amber rose like some Lancomes and such that are niche but this is a warm rose that is not too sweet and not dark. Very springlike. And, thanks to the stupid atomizer bottle, I wore it once and the entire rest of the bottle evaporated. I didn't have this long.

A nice, clean rose scent. I don't really smell much here other than rose, but it is very pretty, and it does not turn sour on the skin over time as some rose fragrances do. Longevity is about 5 hours. It doesn't project very far from the skin, so it's a safe and inoffensive choice for work or anyplace that a quiet scent is called for. Lovely after a bath as well. This is ridiculously low-priced. If you enjoy rose fragrances, don't hesitate to add this to your collection! The packaging is very cute, too.

This is not a flanker of Tabu. It smells nothing like the original Tabu. This is a very good and cheap dupe for Roses de Chloe (fresh, dewy, watery sweet rose) that smells more expensive than it is. It's a simple one so you can layer it over an oriental for some really nice results. I layered it over the original Tabu and they do work very well together, it turns it into a smoky/incense rose and gives it more depth. It reminds me of walking through markets in Istanbul as a kid :) Try it!

For some reason I am getting white musk with roses, although I see there is a litchi note - my nose is easily tricked, lol. Bought this EdT on secondary market website in 30 ml for ten dollars, and about 5 ml had evaporated. Still, it is a very pleasant fragrance and reminds me a lot of Chloe Roses, which I own as well. Smells very clean and soapy. For those on a budget, you can't go wrong with this pretty scent.

This is actually quite nice. I like original Tabu, and this rose version is nothing like it. And that's not saying there's anything wrong with Tabu! The Rose flanker is quite remarkable though. It does have a light rose scent, a bit soapy. This is a great fragrance to wear and not offend anyone with maximum sillage. Tabu Rose is a cheapie but it doesn't smell cheap, I was pleasantly surprise by this blind buy.

NichloeET Vapor pressure, of the alcohol and essential oils/ fragrance oils, can cause molecules to escape out of the sprayer. Thanks for the heads up. Vaporization has been reported twice, no, three times now. I just checked mine, and it seems to be ok. I still have the box and black cap and will change it out tomorrow. Much obliged! Walmart.com has it.

Cute bottle, cute scent. Not remarkable, but nice. It's sweet and subtle, very gentle on the nose. The atomizer is kinda weak but 2 or 3 squeezes of the bulb should be equal to one spray from a pump atomizer. Or maybe it's just my bottle lol

To my nose, this is a light version of Stella or Chloe. If you like those fragrances, you'll like this one. However, I like powerful fragrances and I feel like this is too light for me, but since it was cheap... I can't really complain.

At first it just smells like laundry. I was so disappointed at first but then it just pops out! There's my sweet little rose! Nothing to crazy or complex but it's nice, it's sweet.

Tabu Rose is a fresh, soapy rose (I smell a little lychee...) that leans somewhat "masculine" on me. I'm a fresh rose (and cheapie!) fan and tried it next to Paul Smith Rose, Gres Cabotine Rose, and Paris Hilton Rose Rush. I prefer the greener rose of Paul Smith and the more fruity/tropical lychee + papaya rose of Rose Rush to Tabu Rose's soapiness. Cabotine Rose, for its part, is just a pretty, fresh rose, but with less character than the others (also, it starts out with this icky solvent-type odor right after you spray it; luckily that dies down within a minute and it becomes very wearable, if a little boring). As for Tabu Rose, to my nose, it's just OK and I will not be keeping it in my quite large rose collection (I'm on the fence about passing on Cabotine Rose, too; it may still have a place as a light rose-floral freshie).

I'm not getting a lot of rose from Tabu rose. It is more of an abstract idea of rose. Watery, vague and somewhat lacking a soul. It isn't bad but it isn't good either. There is a lack of vision or force w/ this fragrance. I feel it is neither here nor there. I got a 1 ounce for $8 and I am sure I will be able to find a home for it. If you like the idea of a slightly tropical shampoo rose smell that is watery and non offensive Tabu Rose is a good way to go but I will be giving this away.

It’s ok. I got 2 bottles blind on special, as I’ve been wearing OG Tabu for many years, and thought this would be strong as well. I was wrong, and I barely smell rose in this. It’s a ‘nice’ and generic smell. One bottle will go to my granddaughter (she’s getting quite a collection of my unwanted fragrances). I thought it might have the Dior Rose n Roses vibe but nope. I agree with @LSAUG review below.

It's cheap and lives up to it. All I get is artificial roses and some lychee. Not a winner for me.

I said no more blind buys, but guess what I just did. $13.99 at Walgreens for a big bottle with an adorable atomizer! Tabu Rose is very sweet fragrance. It opens with a fizzy champagne and at moments reminds me of freshly unwrapped bubble gum. This phase lasts about 20 minutes. Litchi takes center stage over rose throughout the development of the fragrance - this explains the sweetness. It's not a cheap sweetness but it's strong enough that the perfume feels too juicy/fruity for my personal taste. The fragrance warms up thanks to underlying cedar. If you have ever used cedarwood essential oil, you know that it can be sweet in its own right. That's how I experience Tabu Rose's cedar. Sappy and warm under rosy litchi. This one has some sillage too! On this warm and windy fall day, all I could smell was Tabu Rose as I walked across the grocery store parking lot. Though the notes are not for me, I can appreciate Tabu Rose as a perfume that is very underpriced. I have to agree with A. Rose123 that Dana put some effort into this one. I'll probably do a giveaway or would consider a swap... Update: Seven hours after my original review I felt like reapplying. This perfume is so good even though it's so not me! The bottle and the fragrance are a bit of a throwback. Somehow I imagine Tabu Rose being the one sweet scent back when perfume was powdery and herbal like Emeraude. I can't imagine ever wanting to wear this on an ordinary day in my life, but I'm having a hard time with the thought of passing it on!

Good longevity with a lovely rose scent on the open and middle. Unfortunately, the dry down is not to my liking. It's an unpleasant powdery musk for me and I don't like powdery smells.

I blind bought this based on the fairly positive reviews. My feelings are a bit mixed. It is more of an elevated body spray than an EDP, but entirely pleasant in its simplicity. First, let's talk about the rose element that everyone is raving about. As far as the rose scent is concerned, I am completely asonomic to the rose element in this fragrance. I do not smell rose at all. I asked my family and a co-worker, they couldn't smell rose either. I have Paul Smith rose and Stella EDP. Tabu Rose does not smell like either according to my nose. Paul Smith Rose smells like fresh green dewy rose still in the garden. Stella smells like purple, smokey, deep jammy rose with a touch of wine. Both are absolutely lovely but Tabu Rose doesn't share their DNA. I do not have Chloe or Roses de Chloe so I cannot comment on Tabu's similarity to Chloe products. Next, the positive. Tabu Rose smells like a bright, fresh, somewhat natural fruit salad, primarily peaches and apples with a slight tart flavor thrown in. It is by no means heavy or cloying. The smell is pleasant, uncomplicated, so gentle it cannot possibly offend anyone so definitely office safe. Depending on when I wear it, it could have a bit of soapiness sometimes, sometimes it could have that girly fruity shampoo-like odor but otherwise it could come across as fairly clear and airy. There is not much dry down to speak of. It's fairly linear and one dimensional. I enjoy wearing this fragrance for extremely casual occasions or for just kicking around in the house due to its simplicity. I also noticed better longevity if sprayed on hair and clothes than on skin. That is not to say it is not pleasant. As a matter of fact, my husband rather likes it and commented on how nice it smells. For $12, I'd say it's a pleasant body spray type of fragrance. No wow but nice enough to try and have it in your collection.

Review RE-do: Tabu Rose smells like shampoo. Like the aftermath of a scalp full of bubbles. It reminds me of Summer. Wash and go's in the morning, loads of leave-in conditioner trying desperately to keep my kinky hair curly, and then out the door into the sunshine wearing nothing but a tank top and shorts. There's something amid the "glowing, dewy rose, bright cedar, and tangy perfumed litchi" that calls to mind all the scented hair products I no longer get to use (in favor of a more natural-based lifestyle). These little bottles of juice comprise the whole of my scent-beauty routine, so I'm very glad to have found something which will give me back that girly, just washed fragrance I can't get from a bar of castille soap and a palmful of raw Shea butter. Tabu Rose manages to do this without smelling even the slightest bit cheap or synthetic, a FEAT of chemical engineering which I greatly appreciate. I love this stuff. And it was so inexpensive. I also want to note that, while people are complaining about the bulb atomizer, I find it perfect. It does exactly what all bulb atomizers seem to do, which is to disperse a rugged mist over a small and controlled area. The more you have to squeeze it, the more fun you get to have, so I say "have at it" and blast away. This scent is so mild that you could literally cover yourself in it head to toe and offend NO ONE...or you could just as well leave a few spritzes about your neck and smell perfectly pretty and polished. This will probably be my Rose Scent Staple moving forward. I love the fruity exotic element of the litchi, it's done very well here. I've been disappointed by VERY high-end attempts at the Rose/Litchi combo. This is spot on perfection for me.

This was a blind buy for me. Real perfume lovers may scorn my reasons, but the pink rose-adorned bulb atomizer bottle is irresistible. I'm grateful to other reviewers for the warnings about that leaking, adorable bottle. I will transfer most of this lovely scent to a more practical atomizer. Yes, this scent is lovely. I tend to dislike one note florals. I've been searching for scents that actually smell like jasmine, rose, and gardenia for years. None of them seem to do that without smelling chemical/cloying. Tabu Rose really smells like roses - lush, beautiful, full-blown David Austen roses. At the same time, the fragrance is nuanced. I applied a little with my finger yesterday, and couldn't resist sniffing - trying to figure out what was creating those complex notes. I used it on my pulse points today. That was two hours ago, and a subtle waft of a rose garden in the morning is still there. It smells so good that I hesitate to light a scented candle. As it dies down, the rose scent is more pronounced. It has yet to pass the "husband test". I wear fragrance to please myself, but I think it's very important to please your partner. I read that Tabu Rose has been discontinued, so I will stock up. So many lovely scents are discontinued, and return "reformulated". I can't think why. A classic scent will always be just that - evocative of times and places that should live in memory - a wedding day, a first date, a thoughtful gift from a lover. Tabu Rose may be a classic for me.

Unbelievably good rose scent. Reminds me of the original Stella by Stella McCartney, except Tabu Rose is better as far as I am concerned. Clean, crisp rose with the cedar accent to keep it dry and woody. As others note, it is similar to Chloe Roses. The rose also reminds me of Lady Vengeance, but more natural and definitely less modern. What it is NOT like: Tea Rose, Floris White Rose, Yardley English Rose. Those are fresher and greener than Tabu Rose. The cedar gives a dusty edge. Longevity is strong; if I apply Tabu Rose at night, it's still going strong in the morning. Performance is about the same on skin as on clothes, except it does last longer on clothes just a bit (they are cooler and this slows evaporation). Sillage is moderate. I like moderate -- I can enjoy the scent without having to fill the room with it. Because it's basically a soliflore, it's not offensive to perfume-sensitive people unless you really over apply. It seems like soliflores don't get the criticism that complex scents do when it comes to sensitivity. One can also use Tabu Rose to add a rose angle to another scent. It works well with sandalwood to give a nice rosy sandalwood aura, no surprise there. Interesting with Estee Lauder's Sensuous or Adam Levine for women. Of course some don't approve of layering, but I am not in that group. If you like rose and see this one, don't pass it up. Gentle, poignant, whimsical and old fashioned. Very twee.

I have to review this again because the strangest thing has happened. I've only sprayed it a handful of times in the last 4 or 5 months, and then it was only to adorn my grandmother who has since passed. It was the one she chose out of my collection and asked for in her last days, and for that reason I know it will always hold a sentimental place in my heart. But from the first time I sprayed it on her, to the last, the bottle decreased in fullness from more than half full to only a pitiful few drops. The perfume seems to have pushed itself up and out through the mesh of the atomizer and then dried itself down to a rosy, honeyed oil slick all over the top and sides of the bottle. I can't explain that in terms of science or physics, I'm only going by visual observation, but either way, my bottle is completely empty now. And though I paid only $14 for it earlier this year, I now see it going for between 40 and 300 ridiculous dollars on Ebay, so I don't think I'll be replacing it either. And now I'm sad, but more confused then anything else. I suppose that counts as a review because, "watch out, after your grandmother falls in love with it it'll literally evaporate."

I may have reviewed this before but I have to add, after reading NicoleET88's review, there may be something wrong with some of the bottles and atomizers. I also attached the atomizer and my perfume seemed to disappear. And if lain down it also leaked. Any time I handled the bottle I get leaking on my hands. So maybe leave the original gold too on for storage and use the atomizer to spray? Idk. The scent itself is light, pretty, Chloe Rose and Stella like but has an airy feel and isn't musky.

Oh I am sad. On me, I get very little rose at all. It has faded to a spicy soft skin scent in about half an hour. It's a beautiful smell, but not what I was looking for. However, this would be very good to wear in close quarters, movie theaters etc. It's inoffensive and pretty. The dry down smells sexy to me. It's not overly woody or spicy. It just kind of makes you want to sniff a little more. This one may be my bedtime scent rather than the signature I was hoping for.

I've had no dealings personally with this company, but I do shop on 'sister' sites (Carol Wright Gifts, Dr. Leonard's, etc.) and I've never had problems with those sites so I presume that Beauty Boutique would be the same. Just putting that out there, not advertising for the site nor do I work for them. :)

This is stunning! I'm not a rose lover, but I'm shocked how much I love this one! Very fresh and delicate, watery rose and spun sugar. Like a sweet, rose shampoo. I would bathe in this. This perfume literally smells like a pretty woman. My bottle is only 1 oz, but if I can find it again I would probably repurchase. Sidenote, this smells very similar to Justin Bieber's The Key which I also LOVE.

I bought this on Amazon last week at the suggestion of a friend on here that knows I am always looking for anything similar to Chloe EDP or Chloe roses. This was WORTH the splurge. This I am sure used to be a cheapie but not anymore. Still worth it. This is the second closest to Chloe Roses that I have found so far. The number one spot goes to Yves Rocher Moment. That is dead ringer for Chloe.

What a lovely little gem this is! The bottle and atomizer are adorable and harken to an older era. The fragrance definitely has roses in the notes, but not like rose bush rose. Rather, it's a powdery, nostalgic kind of smell like what one may have spritz on before going out in the 40's or something. Soft, elegant, inoffensive. I am glad I bought this.

I bought this at Walgreens today. $5 for a 1 ounce spray EDT heck yeah! This is a beautiful fresh sweet rose! Smells like a few of the Chloe's mixed together. Very good longevity, soft village. No powder, just fresh and clean. I think I will have to return tomorrow and get more. Would make a perfect stocking stuffer :)

Wow, I got a 1 oz bottle of this from Walgreens today for $5! This smells so much like Chloe, maybe a bit more like Chloe roses (I own them both). The longevity is even quite comparable. I am most likely going to go back and get a few more bottles because this is an amazing find. Clean, fresh, flora, and very feminine.

Stumbled upon a half ounce circular dabber bottle. It is fresh, musky and floral. Reminds me of Love Chloe and Haiku Kyoto Flower at the same time. To me it's closer to Kyoto Flower. The bottle is pretty. Not my kind of fragrance but I'll use it up. It lasts about four hours and doesn't project much.

I can't believe how amazing this little perfume is! It does smell exactly like Chloe! I actually like it more, because the dry down is warm & soft like Ombre Rose. And the rose note isn't overly sour.

Updates: I grew up eating lichi but Tabu Rose does not smell like lichi to me. Apples and peaches, perhaps. Definitely very fruity.
