Mango Sticky Rice

Looking at some of the other reviews, I guess I'm very lucky, because I can definitely smell mango and sticky rice! It's beautiful and fruity and creamy and everything I wanted when I'd heard about it, without being cloying and overly sweet. Then again, I'm not really a gourmand person and generally prefer florals (I've said this so many times to various friends that it might as well be a motto!) so I suppose if people consider this a floral disguised as a gourmand, it's not so surprising that I like it! Thank you, body chemistry, because in the opening I get pleasant toasty rice, and lovely creamy mango in the drydown. It's my first full bottle from d'Annam, and I'm quite pleased with it. The little egg shaped bottles are so cute! The only disappointment is that while the bottle itself is glass, the cap is plastic and both looks and feels cheap. That's a real shame, given how much it costs.

This is an odd one. There is an initial hit of sweet, ripe mango hidden behind a milky cloud of musk. The mango note disappears within an hour and leaves a sweet synthetic musk which to me has this unknown scent that I have been trying to track down my whole life. It is a strong “pheromone” smell - clean and sweet but dirty and powdery at the same time. That starchy musk note is what attracts me to this perfume the most. I think this fragrance works well on a spring day and has solid projection, with middle and base notes lasting 3-6 hours before becoming a close skin scent. It’s been a controversial one. A friend of mine doesn’t find it interesting, another loves it, neither have that musky pheromone experience besides me though. I’d advise against blind buying, but this is still in my top 3 spring/summer rotation for 2026/27 and I’d recommend trying it on if you ever get the opportunity.

If you're looking for a traditional gourmand, this is not going to be your fragrance but it's still an absolutely beautiful perfume. The top is almost photo realistic ripe mango, maybe even a mango that is just teetering on the verge of being overly ripe. Once it settles though it turns into beautiful warm, toasted rice with a hint of subtle creaminess. So bright and inviting, it's truly one of my favorites. I got a decant and had to purchase a full bottle immediately. However if you're looking for a super sweet, sugary, yummy type of fragrance this may not be what you want. I do find the name to be a little misleading. But I still highly recommend a sample if you love a warm toasty note with the perfect hint of sweetness.

Wow wow! I wasn’t expecting to like Mango Sticky Rice this much, especially since I’m usually picky with gourmands. This one feels different though. The opening is really fresh, like a juicy, slightly green mango rather than a sugary dessert. It’s bright and a bit tangy, not heavy at all. As it settles, it shifts into something softer and more skin-like. On me, the dry down is this really nice, clean musk with just a hint of that creamy rice vibe in the background. It never turns overly sweet or sticky, which I appreciate. It’s more of a subtle, comforting scent than a literal dessert, and I keep catching little wafts of it throughout the day.

For a while, I’ve been searching for a perfume that smells like this. Not like flowery mango, no. Something sweet, mango, and this one is absolutely it. I wanted something that reminded me of the mango and condensed milk shaved ice I had on vacation, and this absolutely nailed it. Personally, I smell the rice more, then sweet mango comes in and blends deliciously with the rice fragrance. If you’ve ever had actual mango sticky rice, or mango sago, this smells exactly like that. I do want to say though, it is a bit on the expensive side, especially with the full bottle being not that big.
