Summer Essence

It smells like Nivea cream to me, but not as sharp softer and more floral. It has a heavenly, beautiful scent of purple blossoms with just the right amount of sweetness. A very lovely creamy fruity scent that gives me so much energy. It’s delicate and feminine. I love this. It's a clean, light floral that is delicious and refreshing. I get a lot of hyacinth and lily of the valley, a subtle hint of the apple blossom - and it is the blossom, no mistake about that! Summer Essence isn't fruity to me in the slightest. I am so glad I bought this!! It's perfect for spring and summer, but could easily be worn year round.

One of the best perfumes that I have recently tested. It is comparable to Chanel chance eau tendre in my humble opinion. I am not interested in other flankers of David Yurman and this is my most favorite. It is reminiscent of spring and summer. It is innocent and long lasting and doesn't bother people around you. ♥️💙

It's opening is horrible.smells like vomit on my skin!!but in less than a minute that horrific scent goes away and is replaced with something lovely It's fruitiness fades soon and we're left with a musky floral with a slight green undertone and a hint of powder Hyacinth is the most dominant note on my skin,lily of the valley is very light but is enough to give spicy hyacinth,some vegetative greenness.apple blossom provides a fresh and clean appley floral aura.I can't detect musk here as much as fresh essence.drydown is a soft,delicate and clean creamy florals,radiant and alluring as is suggested on sample's card.longevity is about 4 hours like the other essences and sillage is moderate I like fresh essence and delicate essence more than this one

This and Exotic are my favorites from the Essence line by David Yurman. Summer Essence also seems to last a little longer on my skin than the others and I like the color of the juice, even though to me it doesn't smell like it would be a typically purple perfume. It seems like a milder summer evening scent, the kind you'd wear while out for a walk on a comfortable summer evening. It's not spicy but is not the typical apple blossom scent, the amber and musk give it a little more of a less-fresh night feel. This is pretty, I think I'll use this one up fast!

Ah! Finally! A fruity floral worthy of being called a perfume. Lasting time is not pathetic. Apple blossom and pear are very obvious upon initial application. The fruit lingers well into the drydown, as they combine beautifully with musk and amber. Somewhere in the mix lies something slightly green--the freshness of lily of the valley. My only disappointment lies with the fact that I don't detect any spicy florals (i.e. orchid or hyacinth). Still, it's a respectable summer perfume. And the bottle is really pretty!

This is exactly what I was expecting from a perfume called Summer Essence. Light, citrusy, aquatic with some delicate white florals in the background and, well, summery! Mostly what I smell is grapefruit, but after looking at the notes I guess it's really the peach that I'm smelling. For such a light scent, it does have a decent lasting power. It's not the most original fragrance, but it is definitely nice and the name does suit it well, as with all the David Yurman Essence fragrances :)

My favorite of the Essence group. Sweeter than the rest and more fruity, although no one ingredient really stands out. I had some expected some purple flower notes in keeping with the lavender theme, but no real correlation. Overall: pleasant but lacking "wow" factor.

I bought is for $ 30.00 USD on eBay and I am so glad that I did because it is absolutely beautiful!

Ok, I finally purchased this. What is this? I actually LOVE seeing more of a complete set of David Yurman sitting in my perfume collection. There's something very pleasing about seeing three relatively similar bottles all in their own shades. The Exotic, Fresh, and now this fragrance complete certain color categories for my fragrance collection. (David Yurman original and the red bottle of the other out fragrance are in their own bottles, distinctly different from this... and I don't want them changed to be included in this other group of David Yurman "colors"... they are perfect in and of themselves, however - I really do like seeing that I have been collecting a set of this - for some reason). This bottle is purple, but yet the fragrance doesn't have the typical notes that I expect from a "purple" fragrance, such as plums and berries. I feel that this fragrance is mis-categorized. I feel that it is actually more in the range of a cornflower blue shade, rather than purple. This is clean, fresh sweet at the opening... with a slightly bitter smell of citrus zest which grounds this and gives it more substance and complexity than the typical Victoria Secret watered down cotton candy scents. (I know, here I go again -- harping about VS... but I'm just very disappointed that an entire couple of generations of young women feel that they are wearing perfume, when they are only sporting the typical VS variety. It is the perfume equivalent of realizing that today's educational system is having young children and adults reading comic books and Cliff Notes, rather than reading the classics.... stepping off my soap box). I've tried "the horse race version of perfume smelling" - comparing this with David Yurman's original, Exotic, and Green fresh essence... and this is the most introverted of these fragrances. It is the softer, quieter, less LOUD family member that may be the prettiest out of the bunch... but doesn't make a dramatic show for attention. This sits closer to the skin, for sure. Less obvious. With the comparison between the other fragrances, I was very close to returning this and asking for a refund... because you can barely even notice this one - compared to the other David Yurman fragrances. However, this definitely has a place within your fragrance collection. This is clean, more blue than purple... would still be a great fragrance to wear if you have been warned to "cool it, tone it down" at the office... or that you are wearing something that is too LOUD for a shared office space, movie, theater, meeting of any sort. Some have said, this is missing the "wow factor". Yes. But there are definitely days when you want to blend in and not call so much attention to yourself. There are occasions when you don't want to send a more sexy message, where someone gets the wrong idea. This smell is clean, there isn't anything in this that is alluring, sensual, or sexy. This fragrance is in the neutral zone, it is not going to mislead anyone to think anything beyond that of friendship. This is unassuming, it is the opposite of someone who only wears fragrances that take up space, scream for attention... and require their own zip code to feel that they have a presence of any sort. This fragrance is the zen master that enters the room - undetected, but yet is so personally powerful that it can shift the energy with just their positive vibration. This is a great fragrance to just allow yourself to "be". It doesn't clamor for attention, it is NOT the peacock strutting their feathers for everyone to take notice, it is NOT someone that feels that they have to wear a 1980's strength perfume just to feel that they will be noticed -- THIS, is the antithesis of THAT. This is pastel blue, like a gorgeous non-aerosol sprayed, chemtrail-free day - a bit powdered blue, without the baby powder notes. A beautiful transparent wash of watercolor blue, which just makes you go -- "ahhhhhhhhh". This has the notes of clarity, clear thinking, this has a softness that doesn't need to prove anything because there is a subtle, unmistakable sense of power from anything that doesn't have to try too hard to just be itself. ----------- Be careful when purchasing this. I have two completely DIFFERENT experiences with this perfume. The only answer here is that there must be TWO SEPARATE FORMULAS. The notes are different than the original perfume that I sampled a couple of years ago. If you are looking for something like I just reviewed, you'll be very happy with your purchase. However, if you are expecting the musk-like notes that I first reviewed, this new bottle does not have that type of smell. I really think that they have switched the formula. You may want to ask the seller specifically which smell the product that they are selling has. This is not the musk version, now. I sampled this a few days and sent the bottle back because it is not like the first perfume that I tried and reviewed, there was a discernible difference in the formulas.

Light, uplifting, feminine, clean, almost as if you were just freshly showered and had only a hint of soap or shampoo on your skin. This perfume is much softer and less glaring than the original David Yurman perfume that I tried. I would liken this to trying the Estee Lauder versions of the original Beautiful that emerged, where they marketed other essences that have a base with the original, but are a clear derivative of it. My hesitation for liking the original David Yurman perfume was the fact that there was a very high note that was really screeching with my individual chemistry. It tones down after the first couple of hours, but the first initial spraying is really a bit too strong. This blend would be a perfect fragrance to wear for the times when you want to whisper - rather than yell... to announce your presence. This is a softer variation and could be the perfect thing to wear while working in a closely knit office space with other co-workers or attending a class, theater production, or packed movie theater. The silage is close, you could smell this when you are standing close to a person, but this is not SCREAMING as you walk into a room. I'm trying a sample of David Yurman's 5 fragrances. Out of the five that I am trying, this fragrance wears the softest with less silage than the others. It is easily absorbed into my skin and smells very clean, like you just took a bath or shower... but is not showing up enough for me to want to purchase it. I actually like to be able to smell a fragrance on my skin and know that it will last about 8 hours. At the first hour of this, I am barely able to detect where I sprayed it. This would be great to wear if you have been told to "cool it" and not wear so much fragrance, because you are offending someone. This is soft and totally unassuming. It has its place in your wardrobe if you are attending crowded functions. ------------- After showering and respraying, I am definitely smelling more of the musk base with this... and I really LOVE that. This is normally the fragrance note that determines whether I will truly LOVE a fragrance - or merely like it. The fragrances that seem to have a vetiver or musk base to them level out the base notes of the fragrance and give the fragrance more depth and mystery... this is also what separates the fragrances that I like, from those that I truly love. I love a true chord with a base note that grounds the fragrance - and higher tones that give you a complete symphony. This fragrance is definitely coming in what that type of chord. I will have to see how long this lasts to really be sure of it, but so far... so good. I'm loving it so far! I detect that this is a slightly lighter version of Poison and Alien... but I'd have to compare the two side by side to really make that comparison. I could see these 3 fragrances being worn as a "signature" type fragrance. You could wear Poison for more formal occasions, Alien for everyday wear, and David Yurman's Purple fragrance for days when you are outdoors, at the gym, or playing sports.

I have yet to open one of these boxes up but when i do i will revisit here and drop a review, looking from the comments it looks very promising and right up my alley. If anyone is looking for this fragrance i have a sealed back up 100 ml bottle up for sale that im selling for a better price than ebay. Besides this for sale i have alot of discontinued/rare/vintage/designer fragrances that i am decluttering some of which im able to be competitive to discounters. To my nose, the best of the collection. Fresh. Vibrant. Feminine, it smells great!!!! It is a nice mix of fresh floral, on fruity notes, nothing overly sweet, or synthetic, elegant type of scent...last time I smelled it was a couple years ago, it is still fresh to my nosel because amongst all the boring fruity florals out there, this manages to be better, to smell nicer, and I remember how much I liked it!!the orchid and the musk keep it warm, and softly sweet.. It really captures the essence of summer, with its uplifting vibe.

If your looking for the shampoo smell, this is one to go with. Its nothing to really write home about,, as it reminds me of a few bath and body works scents. On my skin I smell apple blossom/rose and kind of aquatic. Very pleasant but also pretty generic, so for the original price of $80+, nope. For $15 bucks at marshalls/tjmaxx, yes!

I would love to find this on sale to complete my collection. ArtzGirl's review perfectly describes Ungaro 2007(purple fluid version) to a tee, which I love- a dilute Poison/Alien combo.

I detected something funky with this one. I don't know what it was though. I have to test it again because I really want to figure it out.

This perfume is a lighter version of Calyx perfume. Great for summer and spring time!
