Cool Water Grapefruit & Sage

Much to the shigrin of some of the reviwers below, I enjoy this a great deal. And just for "complete objectivity" I will admit that at first blush (sniff perhaps), this does resemble auqaman/streetfighter particularly the pepper that is not listed and the citrus which begins to separate itself in the early dry down. The mandarin of the AqM/SF diverges from the grapefruit and slightly sour green notes of Gf&S. IIts also not as sweet but not approaching bitter. Forgive the simile but this is like salsa verde to the spicy red of AqM/SF as the green notes remind me of the brightness of a tomatillo vs a red tomato (or even green tomato for that matter but I digress). This is by no means a necessary buy if you have or like AqM/SF and similar aromatics. I would even add that I do get a bit of a Leau DIssey Majeure vibe ("the potty note" some hate but I love). But this may be a must buy if you love them as I do and enjoy the subtle nuances between them even they are too subtle for some. Not to mention 4.2 oz for 25 bucks and better than price average performance, I've spent more on worse as I'm sure you have as well.

This was a nice surprising scent from Davidoff. Tested it a few times and really liked it. The performance was also really good. This opens up with a sweet grapefruit, not sharp or citrusy but more creamy and smooth. An herbal touch from the sage, with a slight minty-earthy vibe. The scent is definitely unique and a bit "daring", there are some elements in the juice that clash together, creating something between a green herbal scent and a sweet summer tropical scent. At some point it reminds me of Fusion D'issey, it's not similar, but it's definitely sharing some elements, like the creaminess and the contrast between sweet and fresh notes. The note list is obviously lacking some notes, at least to my nose, I think there is Vanilla, Tonka Bean and some note reminiscent of sandalwood. I really like the uniqueness of this fragrance and I regret that it is a limited edition, it should be discontinued soon, so try it because I think this will leave an impression on you, whether good or bad. This is a perfect summer night scent, very good for early fall and spring too, maybe too cloying for hot summer days.

I really enjoy this fragrance, but I've yet to find a Cool Water that I don't like in really warm weather. I don't get a lot of the grapefruit or sage per se, but there is a zestiness and a spicy zing added to the Cool Water DNA, and I just find this so likeable. It's strange and different, but not offensive in any way. The opening hits with zest and spice and a mix of freshness and sweetness. The initial freshness tones down slightly after the opening and then it smells a little more citrus-y with a sweet summer vibe and become more like a milder version of CW Intense. It's very blue, slightly green, and gently sweet, almost like it is trying to sit in the space between GIT and Y EDT. My favorite use for this fragrance is to wear D&G Light Blue Italian Love earlier in the day, and then about 4 hours later add this for a warm weekend out.

I love this fragrance. It’s mostly out the shower fresh with a jab of sweetness. The grapefruit is not pungent at all. Very sweet juicy blend with the wonderful sage. I’ve sworn people have said the sage reminds me of Eros EDT but nothing like that on this site. It definitely reminds me of Eros but way different fragrance. One of the best blind buys you can make in my opinion. I would say the only reason you might not enjoy this is it might be too youthful for some. I plan to wear it in all seasons but winter so I would say it has great versatility. I’ve worn it to the gym and work. Have gotten compliments from coworkers. Lasts 5-6 hours on my skin Projects pretty well 8.5/10

Oh do I like this? YES When I first had a wif of it, there was no way I left the store without it. Grapefruit and sage... It does NOT smell like the classic Davidoff that we all know. This is a different scent! Fresh, sweet, citrus. 90% blue and 10% green - I do like this particular mix. I have not smelled anything like this before. This is one of my favourite perfumes of all time. For the price its a keeper. It lasts impressively good for an EDT (7-10 hours). I use it as a sort of deodorant. I spray one spray under each armpit. Office approved? Yes, but avoid using too much. Would I buy again: Yes. I am glad that it is a big bottle (125 ml).

This is my favorite Cool Water fragrance. So fresh, clean and welcoming. I see zero in comparison to Cool Water Intense, that stuff gives me serious nausea from the coconut mixed with whatever else is in the Intense. Lasts about 6 hours, but it's such a pleasant scent, to reapply later in the day is no problem. Picked my bottle up from TJ Maxx about a year ago. I liked it enough to pick up two more as backups.

Just got this bad boy, and wow what a pleasant surprise! The sage almost adds a very light, sweet tobacco feel to it. If you can find this for a good price go grab it.

Summer signature 2022 when you forget your parfumes at home and you gotta buy a cheapie

10/08/2022 Weather: L59, H94 Performance: Projects moderately for 2 hr, skin scent to 6-8 hr I tested this on my wrist last night and when I woke up this morning IT WAS STILL THERE. 8 hour longevity confirmed? I blind bought this due to the allegations that it smells similar to YSL Y. I own the EDP version of Y and I'd say Grapefruit & Sage is 50% similar. G&S lacks the fruity tang that Y has; which is a major component of the scent. I wore this today to run some Saturday morning errands. I recently sold my Cool Water to someone who loves it. Cool Water smells like Irish spring to me and it seems fit for an older gentleman than myself. G&S strikes me as a great fragrance for 25+ males while cool water is 30+. G&S is a little more playful and less serious than CW. CW is the only other fragrance I've had from Davidoff. I have no idea what sage smells like but, my nose picks up ambroxan (or could that be amber?) and a minty herb that I assume is sage; no grapefruit unless its VERY faint as I do smell this has a citric accord to it that is overshadowed by the animalic and herbal notes. This smell is pretty unique in my collection so I am happy. My 125 mL bottle has a BEASTLY atomizer as well. My only complaint is that the scent is linear but it's pretty dang good for the price. 7.9/10

Nothing like the OG Clearwater. Smells like a slightly fresher more fun & floral Rochas Lhomme to me. More blue than anything but the light sage is a touch green. Overall pretty good for 25 bucks. The longer it sits on my skin the more I like it. Doesn't smell much like grapefruit (maybe ruby grapefruit) just a sweet touch of it. The dry down is better than Rochas and leaves a really pleasant scent trail with a nice touch of woods of some sort. I think in dry down it does have a YSL Y vibe as well. Good grab and go fragrance for summer or spring. Lasts over 8 hours and projection is good for this type scent. It is alittle generic but pleasant for most noses. Priced right though for what it is. Solid daytime freshy for pennies on the dollar. The name is confusing to me but still a good bet on a blind buy at Marshalls. 7/10

To the 9 People who downvoted this smelling Similar to Cool Water Intense, have you even smelled Intense before? Its not even funny how close this smells to Cool Water Intense. Its not necessarily a bad thing, unless you own both lol. This fragrance is nice. I get the Intense DNA without the coconut lightened up with a little bit with slight citrus in the opening with a hint of herbalness - I guess you'd call that the "Grapfruit & Sage". Its an okay purchase for $22, I can't complain. Decent fragrance.

This is a really good scent but if you feel that you are missing out because the fragrance is discontinued, don’t worry, This was rebranded to be more dense as Davidoff Cool Water Intense. The difference between the two is very slight. But the grapefruit and sage combo works very well. I feel that there are more notes than listed but can’t pinpoint it. If you don’t mind paying over $60 for a $20 fragrance then you can get this especially if you want a lighter version of Davidoff Intense.

Also a blind buy here and very satisfied. I totally agree that this is a toned down Cool Water Intense. The scent gets better as it settles down and develops more of an own character thanks to the sage. Not as good as Cool Water Parfum, but definitely a great versatile scent in its own right. An ideal relaxed summer scent, but it also has a comforting warmth to it which makes it work in colder days also. I get why people buy a backup bottle of this. Yet again a very solid release.

This is a disappointment. It literally smells like the Cool Water Intense version. Just a little lighter and easier to wear in the office. I don’t get grapefruit at all. This is totally a money grab. If you have Intense which is a monster room filler. Don’t bother buy this one. Just dial down the sprays and you’ll project less for about 8 hours or more. This is fragrance is close to a scam. But it smells good and will get you some compliments.

Was reluctant, not having enjoyed Cool Water. Pleasantly surprised and very much liking this. I can feel the Ralph’s Club comparison, but the soft, muted grapefruit does it’s own thing. This wears a bit smoother than other citrus/herb fragrances I have. It also smells a little less clear and bright. A little more earthy? My wife picked up the Jasmine & Tangerine limited ed. and the two fragrances work together in a fun way.

Closely resembles Cool Water Intense. I get the grapefruit, but it’s not a sour note...a bit on the sweet side. Dries down to more of an Amber finish than sage. It’s a nice everyday fragrance that seems to jump off my skin. It’s not earth-shattering, but it’s pleasant and suitable for casual wear anytime day or night. I might be the only one getting lots of sage. The grapefruit is noticeable for a moment then it blends away. Is it similar to Ralph’s Club? No. Ralph’s Club is more interesting, deep and definitely more attractive. This one is quite linear only varying in intensity. The closer to the dry down, the less astringent it gets.

Woody Ambroxan bomb with a hint of grapefruit. The grapefruit is extremely subtle and only in the opening but then it fades away into a very woody linear scent. This is one of those that no one will hate. If you like sauvage i think you will like this one. Nothing like the original cool water so don't expect that.

This is a really easy calm scent, a bit aromatic clean smooth powdery.. not mega citrus and dry/pithy. I'm female and it's just actually quite pleasant and wearable. It's probably not for you if you only like mega fem scents. It is also a very nice men's scent. Smooth, not sharp, gentle aromatics, easy

Nice fragrance smells like legend spirit imo but it’s a lot fresher in the opening you get a blast of sweet grapefruit and with the sage in the backround there is definitely more notes but I can’t tell it last around 6-7 hours and with moderate projection this is a great summer cheapie and I recommend

I like it. However it is pretty safe scent these days meaning this is not unique, but fresh for the summer that is not citrus heavy. Office safe.

Smells like a mix of Ralph’s Club, Y, and Eros. Very pleasant. Great casual scent for a sunny day.

I always have high hopes for a cool water flanker, as Night Dive is one of my top ten warm weather fragrances. However, I am slightly disappointed with this one. I was hoping for a nice grapefruit note, tempered by a lighter sage note. I expected something much more natural than this. Instead I get a lighter version of the synthetic mess that is Cool Water Intense. That aside this isn't a bad fragrance by any means. The fact that it is lighter than intense actually works in it's favor as you are not overwhelmed with synthetic sweetness. It kinda smells bad in the opening, as there are so many notes competing with each other. But as it dries it begins to take shape into a nice fresh, slightly fruity warm weather fragrance. Yes it's kind of generic, but pleasant nonetheless and will serve as a nice dumbreach for hot Days that I have no plans. Overall id give this a 6.5 out of 10

It's ok. I've been fortunate enough to smell so many other fragrances that this is not surprising me at all with something new. However, this is such a good fragrance at a great price, it doesn't come off as synthetic at all. It smells like several more expensive fragrances and really would be a great pickup for someone in a budget. To me it smells somewhere between L'eau D'Issey Pour Homme and YSL Y. Maybe the dry down is lighter, fresher, but it's 90% there in my opinion. The scent is fresh, but with sour citrus driving it. So it's not a shower gel scent, more like a spicy fresh. It's linear but would make you think it's a little more complex than just two notes. If you have a collection already, I don't think this is a necessary edition. If you're short on cash and can only get a few fragrances, I think this would be a good addition to a few basic use colognes.

03/25/23 update: cool water dna mixed with a strong herbal element at the opening ... it's definitely strong and smells pleasant, but maybe a lil too feminine ... something about strong herbal fragrances give me a lil bit of a headache, so i was careful not to spray too much... i wasn't much of a fan of the opening, but the dry down is fantastic, like a lighter more herbal version of the original ... to me cool water has always been an overpowering fragrance, so i think you can wear this in both warmer and colder months ... for the price, can't complain too much ... just wish it had a lot more grapefuit and a lil bit less sage... may not be my favorite, but people seem to like the scent, still getting compliments on this

It basically bittersweet and a little tartness from grapefruit and powdery from sage, but subtle or lack freshness, it has same vibes as coolwater intense but they changed to grapefruit instead coconut, i've got nausea using coolwater intense can't withstand the synthetic coconut, but this is an okay fragrances, performance just moderate to weak. Am i gonna use it for daily? Meh, this perfume lack of freshness there is something better citrus fragrances out there rather this one. Not bad but not good either, just mid~ Rating? 5/10 ✨

This thing is a f*cking ripoff! The smell is nice, decent projection, and weak longevity. No grapefruit or sage notes here, at all. Nothing. But I swear to God, that what we do have here is the exact same fragrance as Cool Water Intense. Maybe just slightly more diluted. Same is for Aquaman and Street Fighter Editions. They smell the same!! This company is resorting to recycling, as opposed to originality. This is the last Cool Water anything that I will buy. Very disappointed. Save your money.

Im kind of bummed by this fragrance. I've bought it expecting a Grapefruit Bomb.... nope .... is almost unnoticeable. Is not a bad fragrance .... my issue with it is that I own Cool Water INTENSE also .... and is ABSURD how they are ALMOST twins! At least ive paid only 24 dollars .... but honestly if you have INTENSE, dont buy this one... is the same thing ALMOST.

This was a blind buy for me, because so far I loved the original Cool Water and two of its flankers (Intense and Wave). This new one, Grapefruit and Sage, is fine - but I expected it to be a bit more grapefruity and fresh, less sweet and creamy. It's okay, but not as good as I expected. Probably best used in summer nights.

I got this hoping it would be very grapefruit with a bit of sage. It is not. The grapefruit was not very noticeable. It's a sage bomb. Which was disappointing for me, but if you dig sage you will probably like it.

Opens as refreshing scent of generic shower gel. After thirty minutes it smells similar to original CW with some smoky note. It's a somewhat safe flanker, nothing fancy or spectacular, worth around 30$.

Yes this one shares a common accord with CW intense EdP, one that runs throughout the heart of both perfumes and it's their most characteristic. This EdT is fresher, more transparent, a tad worse performance-wise but still moderate projection and over 6h longevity which is great for EDTs. The advertised notes say nothing about the product, but expect a very subdued grapefruit and some edulcorant-like sweetness that makes it "modern". I think it's ok for 30€ or less. I gifted CW Intense and kept this one because I find it more versatile.

This was a blind buy for me at my local Burlington coat factory... Since I'm partial to any type of citrus and sage fragrance; I thought it was a go... Especially with a grapefruit accord. What I got actually was nothing ...zip..zero grapefruit... and certainly not any sage to speak of... maybe in a very, very dry sense... In all a forgetably vague fragrance. I found it to last probably about 20 minutes before it settled to a skin scent. Needless to say I returned it back from whence it came. Color me disappointed.

Blind bought looking for some passable grapefruit to layer with but instead I got some synthetic mess. I wouldn't take it if given for free.

It's unique in a perplexing way...like wtf is this? Ya know how some people cross breed 2 dogs and end up with a Labradoodle or Cockapoo?...same thing here, but this is more Cockapoo. Except you can't dismiss this as some BS because it smells of quality, of whatever it. I get none of the top line aromatic accord, to me it's what it's labeled, an herbal & citrus bomb, if not a mess... at the opening. It's a weekend daytime scent, very linear and much less perplexing 30 minutes into the dry down on your skin. Then it becomes kind of interestingly different herbal/spice dominate close contact/proximity scent - not in a middle eastern way but in a u.s. coffee house / antique shop kind of way. Nothing about it says 'cheap' or even synthetic really...however it will not leave a scent trail. I blind bought this knowing I would get a quality fragrance - and it's that. I call this an affordable quality inoffensive oddball fragrance rooted in organic accords, that you cannot overspray and could possibly trigger an interesting conversation, in the way the sight of a Cockapoo might.

Everyone complaining about this being a “cash grab” and identical to Intense...ok? And? Around 50% of the CW flankers are a recycled version of something else. Davidoff’s biggest hitters are a version of something else...so why would you go into this expecting more? Especially when it’s $25 for a 4.2oz bottle - at TJ Maxx - the same year it released? Everything said about this is true, but if you expected otherwise, taper your expectations. It’s a serviceable scent for about any situation and doesn’t break the bank to do it. A solid buy for anyone not expected a masterpiece with originality.

Redundant. This is 85% similar to CW Intense like others have said. Maybe a little lighter but very similar. I'm not mad because it was 26 bucks at TJ Max. Much more and I'd be upset. For some reason I felt like this would be in the realm of D&G Light Blue Forever highlighting the grapefruit like they did but it is not. I'm not even sure I can discern grapefruit at all. Unless you are a completest you could easily skip this especially if you already have the CW Intense.

Does anyone else think it resembles the og eros at the sillage. Also y parfum but more sour and sweet with less notes ofc. I now smelled again allure homme sport extreme to remember it and it smells a lot similar with this to me. I actually blind bought cool water and its the only one in my collection that i cant even wear. Chanel was giving me the same bad scent and i washed it oft

When I bought this it was so weak, I ended up returning it. I seem to have bad luck with davidoff fragrances. Cool water intense that is supposed to have really good performance was also weak for me and their fragrances come off as cheap.

Musk, nothing but musky muskiness. That's all I get on my skin, that's it. Semi-sweet musk and sod all else. Grapefruit?...Nope Sage?...Nope Musk?...oh yeah. Is it pleasant?....Yes Is it bland and generic?...Yep Is it worth having?....No

I honestly don’t know why people are downvoting that it’s similar to Cool Water Intense, because it smells extremely similar. Good fragrance, but it’s almost identical to Intense when I was hoping for something more grapefruity.

Mehh... cant stand the Sage, it is boring and too herbalish note, I prefer instead a calming a tea note, of course the grapefruit is great, but sage ruins the scent like if i smell a dirtier version

Super redundant to Coolwater Intense and performs weaker. Gave this one away to a co worker. Definitely not an accurate note breakdown either.

Good stuff, very pleasant sweet fresh scent. Great for warmer weather, lasts quite a long time. Brings compliments, good pickup.

The Opening is fresh and the drydown is leathery exact ferragamo.
