Cool Water Reborn

Ooooh!!! Peppery opening, I love it! That must be the vetiver, sometimes vetiver smells peppery. This has like...no top notes whatsoever. No fresh citrus, or lighter aromatics, it just dives directly into plant-y peppery-ness. It develops beautifully, and it smells much more natural than it surely is. It's absolutely a realistic vetiver note...kind of grassy, a little earthy, but not overdone here at all. It never veers into a "dirty" smell. Smoky? Yes, slightly, though it's balanced perfectly. I have a rosemary bush right outside my door, and I smell it often. I cook with sprigs too, and I'm extremely familiar with the smell. This has 65% of a rosemary smell, but it's not as savory or foody as the actual plant. Rosemary actually has some woody qualities too, and so does this fragrance. But no...it isn't a kitchen herb scented fragrance, the rosemary just adds dimension. I haven't tried the original Cool Water, so I have no base of reference here...but this doesn't smell watery at all. It really should be in a deep green bottle. I just tested this tonight from my husband's stash of samples, and it's the last thing I expected to be moved by (moments like these are why I love this hobby), but this fragrance makes me feel both comforted and adventurous. In my mind, this is the ultimate thing to wear on a hiking trip with your wife or love interest. It's masculine, unrefined, but absolutely tasteful and classy. Appealing without being try-hard, and unique. Very easy on the nose, but far from boring. It, again, is like deep forest green, natural and beautiful.

I don't understand the low ratings in this one, and I'd consider myself a bit tough to please. You immediately get a nose-opening, fresh blast of greens and citruses, but wrapped around a blue invigorating vibe. It certainly comes off a bit mature and robust, in a good way, and also you'd think "smells like nature" after a few minutes. Can't go wrong with it especially for the price. Maybe ratings became low due to different expectations/flanker naming? That still shouldn't affect the scent as a standalone creation. If I could only keep one Cool Water, it'd be a toss up between this and the original. (I've had Parfum, Intense, and Grapefruit&Sage which is almost identical to intense). All of them smelled a bit "unfinished" to me, but certainly not this one. This scent has only gotten positive reactions from people around me too. So, hope you enjoy! 😎

Another brilliant fragrance from Davidoff. I cannot understand why this gets such pitiful reviews as I find it to be fantastic for what it is. The best way to describe this scent is a green twist on YSL Y Live (which happens to be one of my favourite fragrances). Definitely a synthetic scent but it's a very masculine, fresh and green scent which will garner lots of compliments from women. Performance is absolutely fantastic aswell as it lasts about 8hrs on my skin and projects heavily for the first 2/3hrs. Really impressed with how this performs. A great, versatile pickup for a brilliant price (£27 for 125ml). Even with a large collection it still has a place for me as it's an easy dumb reach that will garner compliments the majority of the times I wear it. Definitely worth a blind buy if you like the Invictus/YSL Y Live DNA.

Davidoff Cool Water Reborn... ...is a very herbal green scent and instead of calling it Cool Water they could have just called it "Deep Forest Reborn". It is a nice fresh scent and would be great on warmer days. It really has got nothing in common with the original release of Cool Water in the 80s and not even with the current Cool Water Formulation. In the far dry down you can smell the spicy vetyver element found in Davidoff Cool Water Perfume. I personally don't understand the low rating but it seems that way too many ppl are too engaged with syrupy sweet gourmand and niche fragrances that their noses aren't open for a herbal (galbanum) ,woody and grassy juice. If anyone is looking for a Davidoff Cool Water Original release smellalike fragrance (pre reformulation), should try Coty Aspen. It smells very very close.

$30 at TJ Maxx for a 4.2oz bottle, so based on that, the house and this is a flanker, I can honestly say it's worth it completely! I have Dylan Blue (my favorite blue) and this is more like Sauvage. I don't get the medicinal or a ton of greenness to it but I do get ambroxan, some rosemary as a tinge of green and a ton of Ambroxan! Solid 8/10. Since I don't have a Sauvage clone at the moment I'll keep it, better than Sauvage anyway. Cool Water Intense is the best IMHO, the OG is good too!

Stunning! A very brave release from Davidoff! Fougere, green and bitter done the modern way. At no point does it give in to the latest trends. Absolutely genuine blend. It goes along the similar vibes of Kenzo Homme Fresh (2006) but does the job even better. Coastal, piney, herbal and almost austere feelings floating around. Modern day masterpiece!

I picked this up from duty free for $25/3.3oz. This is the kind of fragrance you wear for yourself. Makes me feel calm. I checked online retailers they are selling at a much higher price. Still would buy if it is under 30. About the fragrance - i do get rosemary and vetiver - a lot of it and it smells high quality. Lasts for 4-5 hours.

IMO this is similar to Sauvage but not really a clone. It really like this one. For me it smells like a grown up version of Sauvage. Also quite similar to dylan blue. Performance is great, awesome for summer nights and spring wear. Recommend it! 8/10

Cool Water Reborn is an aromatic, woody, and aquatic fragrance. It opens with slight citrus and herbal notes leaning more towards rosemary than the mint found in the original. Over time, it settles into a fresh, aquatic base of ambroxan and vetiver; this creates a very pleasant masculine feel and gives the classic Cool Water a more modern twist. It is an ideal fragrance for daytime wear across spring, summer, autumn, and even winter though there are likely better options for the coldest season. It works well for daily use, office settings, casual outings, and so on. As for longevity, it lasted between 7 and 8 hours on me; the scent sillage was noticeable for the first hour before the intensity subsided. I like this version of Cool Water because it modernizes the scent without completely losing its identity, although the dry-down reminds me more of Dior's Sauvage. I think it is a great choice if you can find it at an affordable price.

Where's Johnny Depp? Cool Water Reborn is a definite reworking of the original Cool Water because the two have absolutely nothing in common. Put simply, Cool Water Reborn is much closer to Sauvage EdP and could, in fact, be considered a flanker of Sauvage. Think of a fresher, lighter version of Sauvage and you'd have Cool Water Reborn. Reborn is no slouch when it comes to performance. It's been about 10 hours since I applied it and I still get noticeable whiffs. Projection was good for the first 2 hours. Close in projection (about 3') continued even to the 5 or 6 hour mark. Quite an interesting addition to the 40+ Cool Water flankers released over the decades.

I was positively surprised by the tester I got. This starts of as a boring, slightly sweet blue designer fragrance but later develops into a more interesting, elegant, fresh masculine skin scent. It's quite unique, has woody-green spicy, cumin-like undertones from the vetiver. To me it has classic cologne and blue shower gel vibes but not in a bad way. It doesn't smell expensive or luxurious, but remains intriguing and very fresh even after hours of wearing. I probably won't get a bottle of this because it doesn't fit my personal preferences. However, if you're looking for a blue fragrance suitable both for formal settings and for sports, check this one out.

Reminds me of CW Parfum but with a touch of bitter green in it that slowly fades into something quite pleasant, blue and sweet. It's good. Not too herbal or syrupy. It can be sharp if smelled with your nose close to the skin in the first half hour, but I don't think anyone else would be able to notice it. Could easily be your daily driver to school or the office. The performance is moderate; the price is right, and the versatility is high. No clue why the rating is so low. If you want to add an inexpensive, semi-sweet blue fragrance to your collection, this one may hit the spot.

Every parfume which has vetiver in it is called old school....meeh. Its just elegant and fresh. Ofc not for young boys. This smells citrusy, fresh, bitter, little woody, so elegant, so smooth. The only problem for me the performance which is not so strong, like all the fresh citrusy frags. But this is instead of the haters an easily wearable fragrance, and this smells not synthetical at all. You can smell nature in it. A very pleasant suprise for me.

Don't even bother trying this. It feels unfinished, scratchy and synthetic asf. It can't decide what it is. A blue fragrance or a spicy green one? This has no signature hardness,and it will fall of the grid pretty easily. Nobody will remember this in 10 years from now. Awful stuff.

This is really good! Great on summer. Dry down has a little of Aventus but don’t know if my nose is broken, I can smell some Aqva Amara by Bvlgari.

i have worn this Colone for over a month now and have loved it ever sincei got it. very cheap and a great summer fragrance.

Galbanum? Interesting. Aromatic, woody, and bitter green. Sounds like something new and original. Let's hope it is good.

It feels like an ambroxan heavy, aquatic edition of Bad Boy Le Parfum.

Opens fresh, is quite loud, some aromatic green notes. The mid is clean, metallic and salty but with a chemical feel that's pretty abrasive. The base is much nicer, a clean musk which could be seen as generic. The base keeps developing on the skin though and is actually very enjoyable. The clean muskiness gets a little smoky, fruity and balsamic. This is best for summer but pretty versatile so easy to wear all year. More masculine in notes. Performance is decent, good projection especially for the first hour. Longevity is solid too, could still smell it as a skin scent the following morning.

Tried this yesterday since I've never tested a coolwater flanker before. For the first 10 minutes, it projected quite well. It has that cool water DNA that is recognizable but has a woodiness to it from the vetiver that is very evident. I'm not a fan of generic blue scents. And CW Reborn fits into that category. I prefer my Jaguar Pace which is also a cheapie and slightly synthetic, but replaces the woodiness with rosemary. Very average performance on my skin. Diehard CW fans may love this. But that CW scent is just too mainstream and recognizable for my taste. Meh...

Davidoff's Cool Water Reborn is an Aromatic Green fragrance with fougere-like attributes. My 5 ml sample provided my first exposure to the Galbanum note, a robust and bitter plant resin. The Galbanum appears to be the dominant note since the other two notes (Rosemary & Vetiver) are more in the background. NOT one to blind buy, particularly if you prefer sweet scents.

This has the most pungent initial aroma - almost overwhelmingly poor - fishy Reminds me of the Bvlgari Aqua Atlantic and assumed this initial kick was in part Ambergris Despite this it’s intriguing and can still detect 20 hrs later as skin scent which is nice as mellowed out to be musky aquatic Don’t blind buy - different - not worth getting IMO

Solid if unremarkable but at £18 not bad. Performance isn't great. I can see people who go for the generic sickeningly sweet stuff that seems to make up 75% of releases these days. Not much in common in with the original; green and freshy with (for me) a definite element of a peppery note from the vetiver for the opening. 6/10.

Drydown strikes me as (remotely) hinting at Sauvage, but as if having some zaffran/cumin tinge to it? Or something almost oudy? Possibly that galbanum note. In any case it is a bit challenging for me, yet still smells interesting. Can't say I dislike it, so marking it as an ok for now. Not a safe blind-buy, test before buying.

Kinda weird, it smells old to me. Not sure if “old school” or just “old”, tho. It’s sort of smells like a herbalist shop, with some fougere callbacks, and an aquatic feel. Definitely not a blind buy. Also, it’s kinda similar to the newest “Cool Water Oceanic Edition”, minus the sea-weedy facets. Nice performances.

Its a very pleasant mainstream scent with a bit of a spicy / soapy clean / ever slightly sweet facet .. i dont get the woods or oud .. i feel no semblance to the original DNA either .. its just a shame that its just another synthetic crowd pleaser ..

a generic blue. the change comes only from the slight bitterness which however soon vanishes. if you have other blue perfumes forget it. a slightly bitter perfume-shower gel-gym with normal performance. 5/10

OMD! this smells exactly like my Lynx Africa roll on deodorant (Axe Africa if you're in the USA). Smelt them side by side and its so similar!

Got to smell it, don't like it, it has an artificial pungent smell in the begining that goes down in intensity in the drydown. I don't see the point in coming out with a scent in 2022 that smells like the same quality of the regular edt, the only difference being that when the edt came out it was a big deal, this will never be that, it's like a remix launched 20 years too late. If this came out in '92... great scent, in 2022... not even at discounters. Just get the Parfum version, the poor man's Sauvage and call it a day, Davidoff has nothing to offer and it's a shame. To not be able to put out something decent... Davidoff should be in the same league with Dunhill, but nope, it is just above those scents you find in the supermarket when you get soap and toothpaste.

Don’t make the mistake of thinking that “Reborn” smells anything like the original - it doesn’t. It smells like wet mouldy grassy pine needles. Not horrible or offensive but with only 3 notes it is very linear. There will no doubt be others out there that like it but it’s a pass from me.

Wouldn’t buy, tried it in shop and it smelt like lemon window cleaner 🤮

dior sauvage edt vibe and more showergel stylish

Perhaps because of the lack of citrusy top notes, it starts off quite flat and even dull, but soon becomes an alluring cool masculine fresh spicy bluish fragrance that's completely different to any of the Cool Waters that I've known. In spite of its completely different ingredients, it reminds me much of La Nuit D'Issey Bleu Astral in terms of its smell, concept and good performance. An all-seasons and versatile scent that I can recommend for sure.

This is just an aromatic-green mess, leaning revolting to my taste, way beyond barbershop. It won't physically or mentally hurt people smelling it, but for being a Cool Water, the OG and every single other flanker are a definite better choice.

So I can appreciate why people will not love this one instantly, but I can definitely see this becoming popular in 1-2 years. It smells very unique and it’s not aligned with the current fragrance trends. I’m reminded of how people felt about Paco Rabanne Pure XS initially. Many thought it was weird / unappealing at first, but later it became popular and well-advocated by the YouTube reviewers. So how does this smell? It’s got a bit of a modern fougère aroma with a nichey vibe. The galbanum aroma reminds me of Gucci Memoire d’une Odeur, giving it a fresh, herbal, floral greeness (which could be perceived as a bit soapy). From their it dries to a fresh, woody vetiver where it settles for a long time. This is strong and projects for 2-3 hours and last 8hrs easy. That’s why I think people will warm up to it eventually. People want brands to do something interesting and unique, but they don’t celebrate them when they do unless they fit into their comfort zone. I think this one, though challenging, should be celebrated. Solid 8/10.

I tried it 2nd time on my skin now after trying it on paper and at the drydown it reminded me of costa azzura parfum which I have and love so I couldn’t not return and get it. I can see it not being appreciated by many like I just skipped the first time I smelled but I like it pretty much now, Im curious to see how it will grow on me and how the scent will change over time. Yesterday I sprayed once of this on my wrist and on arms I had 3 other different and when I got home I put on my neck versace dreamer which I bought. Cool water would stand out enough after some hours to grab my attention and make me get it so has decent performance it actually reaches 8 hours

In the opening it's a bitter green. Autumnal, gothic in a way. There's always this dark vegetal note, very weird but stern, fresh. Reminds me of being on a coastal, at dusk, near the sea, just outside of a forest. In the dry down it becomes more traditional, woody, behaved. Still green and fresh but less weird. Was a cheap blind buy for me, as I already own and like the Intense and Parfum version. I prefer this the least but I like to have it in my collection, maybe it'll grow on me. For sure it's more peculiar than the sweet Intense and the classic fresh blue Parfum.
