Good Life

After many years of searching (since 2013) I finally managed to pickup a 100 ml bottle of Good Life, for a reasonable price, with around one-quarter of the contents remaining. My initial impression is highly favorable, but I have only worn it briefly and on two occasions. Although I didn't want to do it (since it is discontinued and difficult to find) I'm afraid that I am falling in love with this scent. Offhand, the opening reminded me, briefly, of Dolce & Gabanna Pour Homme--the 1994 Made in Italy version-- which is a favorite, but Good Life is backed with a prominent green accord, fruity melon, some other pleasant aromatics, and a different citrus vibe. I'm finding this fragrance difficult to describe, with limited wear, but I am enjoying it with ever passing minute as noted by the ear-to-ear smile on m face while wearing it. Lots and lots of good. Okay, now the bad: First, this discontinued fragrance is hard to find and massively expensive if you go the eBay Fragrance Bandit route. Great fragrance, but not worth the crazy asking prices IMO. There is a clone house that makes a really nice copy (90%) that performs well and can be had for around $40 per 30ml on sale. Far better option instead of paying $5-$10 per ml. Second, to my nose, there is just a pinch of an old-school vibe to Good Life. While it may be only 5% and gives this scent massive character...well, those under 30 may not like it. If scents like Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme and Calvin Klein Eternity for Men, mixed with CK One, make your stomach lurch then you probably won't like tis one. In Summary: Good Life is a Great Fragrances that I wish would return to the shelves. Until then, get yourself a Great clone because, as good as it is, it's not worth the crazy eBay prices. On another positive note, I also recently put my nose on Creed Green Valley (another I have been wanting to sniff since 2013) and I vastly preferred Good Life and I am so glad I only got a decant of the GV.

UPDATE: I liked this when I first got it but wasn't "enamored"... but in time, my view changed. I'm really enjoying this, especially the blend of fig leaf, mellon, and lavender. The aftershave is a weaker version with less of a fig leaf note. It's fine on its own, but it is best layered with the EdT. The combination is wonderful, especially in warmer months. I'm more keen about it than Acqua di Parma Colonia offerings. __________________________________________________________ It's like Pierre Bourdon borrowed from his original Cool Water creation and enriched it. Added some fig, mellon, black currant, etc. I honestly don't care much for Cool Water. Those fleeting, chemical and "too fresh" aquatics come across to me more like body splashes rather than colognes or EdT's. Well, on the start there is a sharp aquatic/chemical like edge that can put someone off immediately. But thankfully it doesn't last. Good Life settles down yet never lets go of the mellon, with fig and black currant accents. Bergamot is there, but toned down enough so that this doesn't become too dated. There's more going on here ingredients wise, but the details get lost to my nose. I just find a wonderful aroma and don't feel the need to dig deeper (there really is magnolia and pelargonium in this?). Honestly, I wasn't confident I would like Good Life (I blind bought a partially used bottle). The name is a bit corny (not much different from "Best Smell"). But the flacon design is rather nice and the Gucci Nobile like tint to the liquid is appealing, not to mention the aroma itself. Is it worth the going used market prices? Perhaps, if you can keep it under $1/1ml. Overall a very refreshing spring/summer kind of fragrance. I'm glad I found a bottle and intend to wear it in the matching seasons. :-) Fragrance: 8.6, Longevity: 7, Value: 8.

It is the Good Life... A classic fragrance - no more... I am a huge fan of the Davidoff fragrances - I have many in my collection nearing 500 bottles (ok - I guess I am a little OCD..). In addition to being one of my favorite names, the Good Life is one of my favorite Davidoff fragrances. The juice is good - too bad it has been discontinued. I am glad I have 3/4 a bottle that is only used sporadically. The Good Life is truly a pleasant blend of amber, citrus, floral, and sandalwood notes that settles into a herbal, almost grassy", and woodsy fragrance that is fresh and easy on the nose. The longevity and projection/sillage are average, or slightly above average. The "Wow Factor" (comments from the opposite sex) exists - I have had more comments wearing other fragrances, but Good Life has great potential. You will get noticed. While I would feel comfortable wearing Good Life during any season, perhaps Autumn or Spring are ideal. Additionally, Good Life offers versatility that it can be worn day or night or for any occasion. The bottle and packaging are first class. I am especially fond of the bottle - clear and designed that portrays class. Well done Davidoff. Now... The rest of the story... The downside is that Good Life has been discontinued. That said, a check of online pricing reveals that if you want some of the Good Life - you will pay a premium. Final tally for Good Life is 4.1 stars out of a possible 5. Everything about this fragrance is great with the exception of the price/value. If you can find it at a reasonable price, I definitely recommend adding to your collection. Daily I.M - Today is an opportunity to make a difference in someone's life. Do the right thing..!!

Since the very first time I smelled this fragrance, I fell for it right there right away, but I originally bought it for a good friend back in 1999 and never had the chance to give it to him, so I kept it for myself, something I'll never regret. That year, I wore it almost on a daily basis and it was always a great compliment getter. I bought a second bottle of 125 ml as soon as I ran out of the first one and never saw it anywhere again. Two years ago, I heard it was discontinued and felt truly disappoinred. Why good things never last? A couple of months ago, I saw a 75 ml bottle in a men's clothe store while I was passing by, so I had to walk in. The box was open and could smell that incredibly fresh citrusy fruity concoction and good memories swarmed into my head. No need to say I bought it. Last week, I wore it at work and got compliments from a female coworker. Today, in the mornig, another coworker sat by me to ask me for a favor and she said: “how beautiful you smell!”. I had the bottle in my bag and showed it to her. She took off the cap and smelled it from the sprayer and complimented the composition again. Later, she came up to me with one of the girls at work and asker: “doesn't he smell great?”, and she said yes while nodding her head. A couple of hours later, another girl loved the fragrance and it was the first time she smelled it. No one can make a mistake about loving this juice that I have back with me after more than a decade without it. I'll keep the bottle with some fragrance in it and never throw it away. The precious green elixir is forever mine. Are you green with envy now? ;-)

In Brazil, it is very easy to find colognes of the House Davidoff, like Cool Water, Adventure, etc. But this one is not easy, especially after it has been discontinued. For a long time, it was a case of my repentance, since I had a KIT and passed forward (at the time I needed more the money than the cologne). Until last year (2013), when I finally manage to find one bottle (tester) in a store. It was there, sitting in a corner, abandoned and waiting to be adopted. And what fabulous fragrance! It’s composed of notes of bergamot, grapefruit, lavender, cassis, a touch of melon and fig leaves, just in the output. Then, lemon, magnolia, violets, and geranium, in the heart. In the base, amber, sandalwood, tea, sweet clover (Melilotus), mastic, and almonds. I've read, on an international site, that the fig note is repeated in all stages of the olfactory pyramid and I don't doubt it, because it is very present throughout the evolution of the scent on the skin, which makes me question its existence only at the top. Good Life is fresh and powerful at the same time. It has its synthetic moments, as well as natural nuances. I've seen a lot of people comparing it to Cool Water. In my opinion, they are nothing alike. This is greener and fruitier, verging on the aromatic and, dare I say, is quite shareable. It gives me a sense of clear sky and freedom. 10 stars!

"Davidoff good life, the evocation of the end of a summerday. when the fig trees, the hay and the meadows release their scent in the warmth of the sun.." that's what u can read in the little booklet included in the box of good life, the description fits at 100% on this beautiful scent. good life is an easygoing, relaxing and rich casual scent , a truly mood changer. the opening is fruity with bergamot and fig, the main note of this fragrance. in the middle we have sandalwood, tea and a light note of tobacco, but the fig leaf is still alive. the final result is a masculine, rich yet safe fragrance, fantastic for spring and outdoor occasions, maybe a barbecue or a day at lake. i think good life is a mix of ferragamo pour homme and dolce and gabbana pour homme but it's only my humble opinion. performance is slightly above average, it lasts for 5-6 hours and more and the sillage is very good for 2 hours, so not amazing but not disappointing. this is a great fragrance and i truly recommend the purchase if u find for a reasonable price(im against paying crazy money for every fragrance). una piacevole scoperta, profumo perfetto per la primavera! scent:8,5 longevity:7,5 sillage:7,5 versatility:8 uniqueness:8 bottle:8 compliment factor-7,5 my vote:8,5 in one word: optimism alternative- ferragamo pour homme

Back in 2002, the shopping mall culture was just picking up in Calcutta (Kolkata) and people would throng these new malls just to experience what the hullaballoo was. I was one of them!! The sales agent would pitch every other fragrance to shoppers who would strangely look at the shelves confused and excited. I was one of them!! Had some countless number of spays on both my wrists of numerous fragrances and also my hands were full of white paper strips which I latter discovered that they were called ‘blotters’! Came back home buying everything except a bottle of fragrance and ofcouse a bunch of blotters. I smelled my wrist trying to figure out what was on it that wanted me to smell it more. Went back again to the mall hoping to find that fragrance which captivated my virgin senses for quite some time. Never had I heard what Davidoff was all about and it was an exercise finding the suddenly lost gem. Tried a few more in a hope to find it and struck luck with this green ridged bottle. Didn’t buy it immediately for some reason but was later gifted by my sister knowing how much I liked it. Good Life is special to me because it introduced me to the world of fragrances. On my second bottle and use it sometimes for that nostalgia and would keep it for life..Good Life!

Bought the large bottle of this at Needless Markup at Bal Harbour in Miami in 2000ish. Bottle is still full - I've worn it maybe 3 times. I'm not trying to sell it - its great - just that I was an impulse 'green buyer' in my youth - so it has had to compete against Green Valley (95% full) and every expensive Vetyver on the market. (Givenchy is especially nice btw). The "Green bottle" that sucked up all the oxygen out of the room so to speak was Gucci Nobile - which I still have a tiny amount of left. I looked the other day and was floored by what those bottles are fetching. Route de The was another one that was heavy in the rotation. When you're out in South Beach a lot in the early 2000's - you gotta be fresh lol. I'm 59 now and haven't seen the inside of a nightclub in 15 years but still love fragrances - just got some Amouage Enclave Eau de Parfum from Costco online of all places. Anyway - please accept my apologies in advance for blathering on - Good Times is great but perhaps the dry down on Green Valley was superior - and for sure Gucci Nobile got me MANY more compliments (can i say laid?) by a wide margin. First time I cam across this was in my uni daze. Thought it was a greener version of CK Escape for Men (another awesome fragrance). Those days I was rocking Cool Water so was very suprised that this was a Davidoff perfume. It literally feels like a fresh summer harvest day / rugby match because of the clash of fruity citrus and melon flavours ( Escape) and the herbally green vibes of fresh cut grass and unearthed soil. Goddamnit i was hooked! Was my regular fragrance right until the early 2000s and then suddenly it vanished. The closest substitute (very distant) was Clinique's Happy for Men and CK's Escape for Men. Soon those disappeared or became reformulated rubbish. Truly, Truly miss this fragrance. they need to bring it back, with the same formulae as it was then., can't understand why they ever discontinued it and kept some rubbish variants forever. Davidoff even messed up the original Cool Water too. Current version is ridiculously weak and smells artificial, unlike the 90's version which was a fresh, vibrant oceanic explosion.

This frag just popped in my head after browsing some fragrances of the past just now. Ah how I remember this, just awesome. If you really want to have an idea of how this smells, get a bowl of sliced limes, not squeezed, just sliced, and stick your face into it and inhale deeply. That is about how this smells...without that tart. Why this was discontinued is beyond me. I bought this over 10 years ago at around 40-50 bucks for the large bottle. I thought the bottle was cool and knew Davidoff so gave it a shot...great great stuff. I just looked over to Amazon, and it is now selling for 250$!!! Wow... If the price doesn't bother you, this is absolutely a must have without question. And...hands down for the Spring time....not the fall but "Spring!"

I came across a very old 2ml sample of Good Life by Davidoff so I thought I would try it. It's a very nice spring/summer fragrance and I really like it. So, I went on ebay to see if I could find it at a good price. Boy was I shocked at what I found! You can easily spend $200-$300 for a bottle of this elixir! But, I have to say, it is not necessary to pay such an exorbitant price for this fragrance. I also have L'eau d'Issey Pour Homme from Issey Miyake and it is every bit as good as this and smells very similar for a small fraction of the price of this discontinued gem! So, if you like this fragrance, give L'eau d'Issey Pour Homme a try and see if it doesn't fill this void in your life, without breaking the bank!

After repeatedly revisiting eBay for this cologne, I happened upon someone in Sweden that sold me a 4.2 oz. for $120, well under the asking price of $400 for other bottles of that size. I now have both the EDT and a bottle of after shave to complement one another. Although I do not wear this excessively, I do consider it my signature scent, out of a collection of around 40. To those out there that may be curious about this juice, but shy away from it because of the now-outlandish pricetag, do yourself a HUGE favor and spend $20 on a .17 oz. mini; you will not be disappointed, rest assured. There is nothing else like the Good Life.

I would kill to have another big bottle of this! I had no idea what I had I suppose at the time or thought it would be just like Davidoff's Cool Water and many other fragrances in the line and have some endless supply that never runs out. But today you can buy a 125mL bottle for only $600 from some Ebay seller. Good Grief! I have searched and searched for a low price on Bond No 9 Gramercy Park, have never smelled it, but it's supposed to be similar. Twice I have placed an order, waited patiently and in anticipation, but twice the order was cancelled by the seller. Blows my mind how difficult it is to obtain fragrances sometimes.

I had a total brain meltdown that led me to selling my bottle of The Good Life. One of the few mistakes that I have made as far as selling/trading scents. I was in a different frame of mind as far as what I was looking for in a scent. Now that I am older I do appreciate the scent more. The opening is a standard citrus open with a slight twist to my nose of the grapefruit and fig. The fig flows throughout and I get a hint of vetiver but I do not see it listed but I do smell it... or at least think I do lol. If you have a bottle hold on to it... if the price EVER comes down I will get it again. Enjoy!

Another masterpiece gone down the drain. This is a beauty from the very hands of P. Bourdon and Davidoff discontinued it..... What a shame. Especially if you take a look at the unoriginal mess thats coming out from this house with the cheap marketing attached. GoodLife however has everything I wish to have in a fragrance. Originality, performance, a green/bitter/floral atmosphere. "What about Adam" from Joop comes from this direction and maybe Ferragamo's beauty from 1999. Davidoff's GL is pure joy, optimism, love and style. Perfect for springtime day time wear or summer evenings.

I have a little sample of this fragrance, though I wish I had a little more. It starts very sharp and green, but quickly mellows. During the dry down It reminds me quite a bit of Pure Vetiver by Azzaro. I don't really know what fig leaf is supposed to smell like. I have a couple of fig trees in my garden and the don't really smell of much at all. I can, however, say in this fragrance, there is a fresh,crisp, leafy smell with a light unusual aromatic quality, almost like marzipan (which I put down to the almonds). Very pleasant and great for warmer weather.

Joyful fragrance! Tranquility, elegance and exudes optimism! It is very effective, there is a unique aura. The perfect choice for everyday use and special occasions as well. Categories is not clear to me because I feel spicy chord, but the figs and melon notes is outstanding in it. Overall effect gives me infinite-balanced. However, you can not ignore that propagates the "diversity" that the "good life" symbol, like a parrot in the tropical rain forest ... Too bad it is discontinued because I think the most beautiful fragrance Davidoff fashion house!

This was the first fragrance I bought with my own money, so memories and nostalgia are strong. But so was this scent. I was crushed when I lost my bottle in a move and learned this was discontinued in the early/mid-00s. It was different than most designers on the market then, and the fig leaf was used to such great effect. It was light, fresh, green, slightly fizzy, and I just never got tired of it when I had occasion to wear it. Truly missed. Not worth what you'd pay online, but still tempting.

One of my all time favorites. Smell of the "good life" definitely. As I can remember I've never received a compliment with it, but I never thought it was a problem..... with this around you you care so little about what people think, its just....good for you. :D Uplifting, one of a kind gem......it was pure art, obeisance to uniqueness. You can't put this scent on the same shelf next to nowdays' 'one size fits all' releases. Shame on you Davidoff!
