Del Mar

This opens with mostly a heavy dose of sweet jasmine that feels balanced out by some hints of citrus. Despite a lot of citrus notes I only get a little of it, I get more of the jasmine mixed with a beachy, musky, oceanic air smell and sunscreen like coconut. Sunscreeny scents tend to smell chemically or sharp to me but this feels more relaxed and carefree, very reminiscent of California beaches. It’s creamy, airy, slightly floral, slightly sweet. The dry down picks up some warmth with a powdery sand accord and soft musks. There’s remnants of that creamy jasmine and coconut combo and the effortless beachy accords. A well done take on the sunscreen scent profile that feels more homegrown than your typical tropical vacation fantasy.

A tropical freshie that manages to be light and fresh while still having some decent longevity. I swear there is some kind of witchcraft done with this one. This is another scent from the brand that evokes memories. For me it is of lazy days spent as a child by the sea on the coast in Venezuela. I have my suntan lotion on reading a book and relaxing in a hammock under some palm trees. The warm salt ocean breeze caresses my skin and there is a soft flower scent from nearby bushes. The sun is hot, but I am drinking cold coconut water straight out of the coconut while the adults are drinking mojitos (with lots of fresh lime and allowing me a few sips). A beautiful scent worth having in your collection.

Del Mar is my first love with Day Three. So much so I’ve already got a 10ml dent in the bottle. To me this is the ultimate relaxation scent. If I’ve had a long stressful day, or been out in the sun, this is what I put on to relax and unwind. Lazy Saturday or Sunday, this is what I put on. It’s soft, warm, relaxing; it wraps you in the cocoon of comfort and instantly transports you to a warm sunny beach.

This to me is what I want Virgin Island Water to smell like. I love that dna but after a while the coconut starts getting slightly annoying to me. But this removes that note with clean white florals and it’s perfect. Definitely getting a full bottle soon

This is a stunning fragrance. Jasmine, sea notes, coconut, musk .. This is so good I would recommend it to anyone! My favorite fragrance I’ve purchased this year.

Sampling Day Three Fragrances Del Mar, a fittingly marine experience that blends a nice mix of citruses, ginger, coconut, and jasmine, with a “unique sand accord” that strikes me as a more tempered, terrestrial “sea spray” accord that I’ve seen used in other aquatic fragrances. That sea spray / sand aspect that I get is not over the top / borderline astringent, as it is sometimes in other fragrances, but rather quite subtly placed alongside the other fresh notes with just a hint of coconut for sweetness. The whole experience seems delicately put together and is not too over the top, nor boringly clean, but overall, a really pleasant seaside encapsulation of a day at the beach, coconuts included. Like most of the house, Del Mar is EDP concentration and is priced at $225/130/35 for 100/50/10ml, sold via the house website. It performs pretty good, particularly for a freshie, and as with the other items in the house, I think the value and uniqueness are fairly high. I’m really pleased with what I’ve smelled from this house so far. 7 out of 10

I recently purchased a discovery set from Day Three fragrances. And I must say I am pretty impressed. I have 9 frags in the set. And have only tried La Tacita de Cafe, Ambar Dominicano, Filosofia, and this one. All good on test strips so far. Pretty good quality too. This is just a quick note regarding this one. Del Mar is nice. Very calming and relaxing fragrance. I have been to Del Mar for the Fair several times. And this evokes memories of the atmosphere of the town. Now this comparison could be a turn-off for some. But to me, this somehow reminds me of a higher quality and improved scent profile of Sean Johns 3AM. This, Filosofia and Ambar Dominicano are my favorites so far from the lineup. Just first impressions on paper though. More to come.

Del Mar is a very beachy, sunscreen-y floral with seriously impressive longevity! I enjoy this one, but it's definitely heavy on the coconut note - something I enjoy less and less as I gravitate towards weirder and more 'serious' florals. That being said, it's not artificial smelling - I totally disagree this smells like "air freshener" - NO. Del Mar is a pretty, well-done casual floral that would be ideal for hot weather. I like this one, it just doesn't wow me. I'll enjoy my time with the travel spray and then move on. This house is doing some great things though!

Ok. Right around 5 ish hours. Not bad for a summer wear. The musk and amber help i imagine. I haven't tried Virgin Island Water but I like this profile. I have and adore Fan Your Flames. Just because it has coconut doesn't mean they smell alike. Nice bright opening with easy white florals sprinkled with coconut and that musk mentioned earlier. Not bad but not sure this will be the bottle for me. Two more to go in the discovery set.

Bright and airy scent profile. Great citrus lime but as others mentioned, it kind of smells like an air freshener. It is very light, airy, bright and beautiful leaning feminine moreso than unisex. Some sweetness and floral fragrant that sits close to skin. It would be beautiful to smell on a woman in the sun with a gentle breeze in a summer day. Being I am a male, it is not for me but it is pleasant smelling.

Beautiful vacation perfume! Strong coconut freshie. Very well blended and dry down is so good! Does give a slight sunscreen vide but in the best possible way... smell expensive.. not like most sunscreen scents in my opinion. I got 4-5 hours of wear and if stayed heavy others can definitely smell. Very nice!

The first few moments of this were amazing, a burst of ginger and lime energy. After that it's just a clean aquatic with jasmine.

Del Mar is a soft, subtle take on a fresh aquatic scent. To me, it smells a bit like Megamarre by Orto Parisi, but with the dial at a 4 or 5 instead of Megamarre's screaming 10. The aquatic notes have a tinge of salt, which is nice, and the lime at the top is pleasant as well. The performance is poor; it has almost no projection or silage, and will only last 3 or 4 hours, which makes sense for a date-night fragrance - but this is a freshie, not really a date-night scent. And the musk is heavy enough to tilt this into being a feminine-leaning, vs unisex scent. All in all, it's a bit 'meh', and an over-priced 'meh' at that.

A more floral Creed VIW. Also a tad more feminine leaning. Soft and delicate 90+ degree beach day scent. A bit more creamy than VIW as well. Longevity and projection are typical with this type of scent.

This smells like a bathroom air freshener to me. Would definitely wear Virgin Island Water or Le Beau over this

I must be completely nose-blind to this, or my sample is bad. I don’t smell anything but a weak salty musk. 🥺

Finally found a Tropical Coconut scent where the Coconut note doesn't annoy me, come off as cloying. This sets a scenery of Beautiful crystal clear Ocean Waters, pure white sand, and light blue skies over a Dominican Beach. Very well balanced perfumery.

The best way for me to describe this is a longer lasting less tropical Creed Virgin Island Water. Pleasant and rich but wearable. May not be for everyone but it actually holds the scent profile without fading too quickly. It’s what VIW should’ve been

This is perfect for something cooling and refreshing in summer. The lime is very potent and I almost get something minty. I get mojito vibes. Definitely unisex. In the dry down I get coconut that is definitely a sunscreen type of coconut.

Living in San Diego, this is perfect for the upcoming summer season. Bright, airy, musky, clean! First sniff this was a hit to me together with Downtown Dejavu. The other offerings would be great in the colder months.

This smells okay, it’s very synthetic and too reminiscent of the free shampoos they offer at hotels.
