Silent Rescue

Sampling Day Three Fragrances Silent Rescue, a spicy, woody, resinous, and semi-fresh blend that combines actual spices of pink pepper and nutmeg with fresher ingredients of bergamot and juniper, drying down to sandalwood, cedar, guaiac, and frankincense. Fittingly, it’s a bit sharper in the opening, smoother in the dry down, with the spices being a bit hotter in the opening, cooler in the dry down but on the whole a pretty good balanced feeling between cool and hot spices (said to be the concept of Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb, not that this smells like that). It’s provocative without being too sharply spicy and restrained in that it almost smells a little sweet, but is mostly a sensible spicy, woody blend that works for three seasons, perhaps just not the heat of a summer day, at least for me. It has the quality of a stereotypically masculine-leaning cool-weather scent, but I think its sheer quality and ease of wearing makes it pretty versatile. Overall, it’s crafted well and adds further diversity to the line, with fittingly very good performance for a fragrance that I would personally wear in the cooler weather, mostly. Silent Rescue is extrait concentration and is priced similarly to the rest of the line, at $235/135/35 for 100/50/10ml through the house website. 8 out of 10

Silent Rescue has become one of my favorites from the house. I absolutely love what they do with Frankincense in this one! So the opening comes off very sharp, metallic and citrus in an almost makeup bag kind of way. That last only about 20 seconds though and the sharpness fades into a creamy soft wood vibe. It gives off an accord I assume other perfumers are trying to achieve when they list cashmere. It's rich and full, while still maintaining the light airy quality consistent with the brand. Around 30-45 minutes in, I can detect a smoky note. I'm pretty sure that's one of the frankincense notes they chose to use. It's an inviting, warm and woody smoke. I really enjoy the journey this fragrance takes you on. Unexpectedly, I found my nose gravitating to my wrist more often than usual simply to see where the story had traveled. This projects about an arms length for me for the first hour then sits a bit closer creating this beautiful scent bubble. I can detect it for about 6-7 hours. Definitely a recommended fall/winter scent. It could work in the spring as well but I'd avoid high heat summers with this one.

When I wear this it makes makes me feel like an imperator class titan 😎. At least that's how I feel it would smell like in one.

Another late summers or early falls evening with your friends. As you hop around downtown you eventually find yourself in this old Catholic church that has been converted into a local market and bar. As you all find a table you order a big kettle of black tea to share. You squeeze a wedge of lemon that waiter brought over to you all into the tea, sipping on it as the mixture of the tea and church incense mixes together to form a unique smell that is both unmistakable and unforgettable. The night is young, but that only makes you more excited. Life is good. This is probably the most devicive scent that Day Three has in their current collection. A bright, peppery, and near acidic opening of mostly nutmeg, lemon, and cedar; the elemi is present but most smooths and sweetens the opening a bit so it's not so bitter. This opening is my favorite part of the fragrance, as it keeps the incense/wood combo that will be the bulk of the rest of the fragrance but keeping it somewhat fresh and uplifting. Then, after it sits on my skin for about 10ish minutes it becomes a black tea, frankincense, and cedar focused fragrance. It is VERY incense, tea, wood, and resin heavy, and because of that I could only really recommend it to people who are a fan of woods and incense. I personally love the tea and woody facets of this fragrance, but I've never been one to lean towards incense-y fragrances. I will say though, it is much smoother due to the sandalwood than a majority of incense heavy fragrances I have sampled. As it dries even further it mostly becomes a guaiac, cedar, frankincense, and sandalwood combo that's very pleasant, but not for me. This leans masculine to my nose, and maybe a bit older too; like a guy 35+ could easily rock this as their signature. Great performance and projection, as with most Day Three frags. TLDR: Pleasant but bitter woody, incense, tea fragrance with a wonderful citrus opening. There is no sweetness to this, unlike many of the other offerings from Day Three. Leans masculine and a bit older, but wear what you like. 6/10

At first I didn’t like it but now I do. Best from the house. Too bad it’s the only unique one.
