Madonna (Lilly)

I blindly bought this perfume and wasn’t super impressed initially. However, it’s become one of my absolute favorites. It’s sophisticated, sexy, a little mysterious while still smelling fresh. It’s definitely a nighttime perfume. Wear it out to dinner, or to bed. It has a moss-like note. Almost like walking through a forest and exactly how I imagine a fairy to smell. Like a warm cup of chai tea. Maybe cardamom? Despite not having any sweet or floral notes, there’s something about it that smells jammy. I can’t put my finger on it. It’s peppery for sure...like freshly ground pepper that comes out of the mill. While that scent isn’t for everyone, it’s comforting and nostalgic to me. Longevity is crazy. It lasts for hours, lingers after showers. The sillage is quite strong upon application, but ends up just reducing to my own personal space a few hours later. Get a tester if you can. Decide for yourself.

I really, really love this perfume. I see a lot of people describe it as warm spicy but I think I would actually describe it as a cool, fresh, and clean spicy scent. I would also describe this scent as being somewhat gothic, but in a modern sort of way. This perfume makes me imagine what it would be like to stroll through an old church graveyard on a cool, rainy day. Lillies growing around the gravestones, and the fresh scent of damp wood emanating from a nearby forest. Overall, I'm impressed with this perfume and I will likely buy a full bottle once I've used up my sample.

Herbaceous and fresh, with alluring woody notes. Very unisex...sexy, clean and lasts well, even on the skin. I received a sample of this, and Confetto by Profumum Roma...loved them both for different reasons...but then, realized VERY strangely, that they layer quite well! So I had to have both. I have over 340 perfumes. I need to stop. Really. Hard to stop though. I have an entire room, temperature controlled, just for my perfumes. Some girls collect shoes and handbags...this is my obsession. Need to o check out the rest of the Dedcool frags..this one is a great start.

I really love this scent. I find it has a moderate sillage upon application, although that pulls in tighter to become more intimate within about an hour of applying. The scent hangs around for a few hours. While unisex, I do think this scent leans a bit more masculine - the combination of wood and pepper leaves more of an impression of cologne. My partner didn't care for it as much - he doesn't like "warm spicy" scents, but I love the combination of fresh and clean with warm and soft and woodsy. I think I will purchase this again and wear it for special occasions.

Yummy, peppery and clean and not pungent or overwhelming. Smells like... the wet stone and plants in a grotto youve just gone to worship at. I just wish it lasted longer! Edit: on the second wear I am OBSESSED, it smells like may in a conservative of deciduous woods, peppery and sweet and clean. Leans slightly more masculine but I keep getting a whiff and loving it. Still wish it lasted longer, it mutates into an intimate sandalwood after a couple hours

This has quickly become my signature scent. The user describing it as a temperate forest is spot on. It's spicy and refreshing, just a staple for spring and summer. It lasts all day on the skin and stays on clothes for WEEKS. There is also a lot of depth to the scent and it shifts over the course of the day; the spice fades after a few hours and I'm left with the most delectable wash of woody, mossy freshness.

Clean, fresh, sharp, bitter, mossy, woody, spicy, herbal. Unisex leaning masculine. Wearing as a woman makes me feel confident and professional because it adds that extra bite, but on a man I imagine it would come off more subtle with a slight indie twist. Would be good for an office interview or business conference.

This is such a fresh, every day warm spicy fragrance. I find it so intriguing to smell and try to point out specific notes. In my opinion, there's a lot of moss, similar to ivy blanc and fragrance no. 5, but Madonna Lilly totally stands out compared to the other two.

I love this so much, especially because I usually hate sandalwood. The cardamom and black pepper are the stars, and all the other notes support them, which I really like. Unfortunately, the longevity on my skin is pathetic, disappearing after about 1.5 hours.

This is my favorite frag! Woody and comforting, but not in an overly aggressive way (the green elements of it balance it out). The pepper is very bright and nice. Overall very unique.

I don’t even know how to describe this fragrance. It’s woody, clean, with a touch of Lilly petals - but it’s not floral. It’s incredible. Seriously love this scent.

Daytime pick-me-up for when I want to feel smart and zippy. Mostly peppery and fresh, a little woody maybe. It's nonchalant like dressing down in a cool way

Revisiting this after a while of not wearing. This was the scent I was lusting after around the time of my birthday 4 years ago - a crazy, highly unsettled time for me, so this brings back some kind of icky feelings. I like to force myself to wear scents that are negatively associated so that I can rewrite the meanings in my brain. Today - I feel calm and this scent really does reflect that. To me - I do not get a blast of warm spice. I was surprised to even see that as one of the main accords. To me, this smells like the freshest wood and moss, with a touch of sweetness. I suppose I am lucky in that way that it doesn't overwhelm my senses, it feels very natural and meditative. It has a larger projection/sillage than most scents I own (loud scents are not really my preference - this one isn't particularly nuclear either). I'm sure if I left the house and wasn't wearing this alone in my home while I work this would be the kind that I'd get compliments on. It's very fresh and classy yet has a little rugged edge. I do see how the name is quite misleading - we must always remember to sample before we buy! This would definitely have let me down if I was expecting something very floral or feminine.

Okay this one surprised me! I ordered a sample collection from Dedcool and I threw this one in there last minute just to try and this has been my favorite so far. I tried fragrance 04 before this and the pepper was overwhelming so I was nervous how the pepper would be in this. But immediately it felt like softer, sweeter fragrance 04. Over time it softened even more and turned a little floral and almost a lactonic musk on me I absolutely love it. I also usually don't go for powdery scents because I don't like when they smell like baby powder but this really nice, light, and clean. I sprayed it last night once on my arm and I'm still getting whiffs of it this morning so it lasts! I will definitely be ordering a full size of this one. Edit: I need to wait to post reviews until I have had a minute with the perfume lol. I still like it but now it develops on my skin almost in a matcha way. The green lactonic vibe I got is still there but now it smells a lot different.

I received a sample of this with my full size order of Milk from Dedcool. I've worn it both with and without Milk. Wearing it with Milk tones it down a bit too much for me. I prefer wearing Milk on it's own when I want something more comforting (I also use it as linen spray before bed!) and wearing Madonna on it's own. Madonna for me is very warm and earthy - maybe a very slight hint of gourmand from the pepper and cardamom. I agree it could be unisex, but does seem a little more feminine to me than masculine. There's a note in it that reminds me a bit of Mad Madame from JHAG, but Madonna isn't quite as "dirty". It's not too strong, I would say projection is perfect. This has some staying power, too! It lasted through a shower for me and I made sure to scrub my inner elbow (where I'd sprayed it) well with soap. I could still smell it a bit after the shower. Not sure if I'll buy a full bottle but I'm enjoying the sample!

Another review of the Dedcool sample set, this time it’s Madonna Lilly. On paper the scent starts with a very sharp black pepper note that stings your nose a little, it soon evaporated and leaves a soft trail of sweet woodiness and amber. First spray on skin is a sharp, spicy black pepper note that soon settles, and that’s where the woodiness creeps in. A cool, dry cedar wood (to my nose) that feels comforting. As it settles further the lightly aromatic cardamom begins to shine through. The cardamom and amber in the background add a resinous warmth to the scent. Overall a lovely woody, aromatic, amber fragrance. The pepper notes give it enough of a punch for it to be invigorating, and the woody notes keeps it dry and cool. Not an overbearing fragrance, it gives off cool and confident whilst being humble. This scent leaves less of an oil residue but still leaves a bit of stickiness.

I don’t know what it is exactly that signals this as a green fragrance for me, considering I mostly get a blast of freshly cracked black pepper, dry sandalwood, and cardamom. It’s sharp and spicy in a “bitter greens” kind of way—I think of fresh plant stems crushed by hand and loaded up with peppercorns and cardamom that were done in by a mortar and pestle. Everything’s turned crunchy, pulverized and ground up. It takes some time to mellow out, and eventually the moss notes are more apparent. I wish I had a better understanding of the “exotic woods” aspect—maybe that would settle my mind on this one. Longevity’s decent, but I wouldn’t want to overspray. Strikes me as a perfectly unisex fragrance, but regardless of who wears it, they must like black pepper.

Smells like I thought it would; sparked and soft pepper and green and earth. Very similar to 04, but smoother/better. Well-blended and balanced. Pepper pops first on skin, vibrant and playful. Earthy/herbal. Not sure. Smells like lemon peppercorn (almost) chicken! Not in a bad way strangely, but...maybe it's too strange? The cardamom? Can't pinpoint it. Definitely earthy and playfully spicy. Fresh in a surprising way as it wears. Quieter than I anticipated. Not horrible. I kind of like it...though it definitely gives my sensitive head troubles. Bummer.
