Sudden fear hit his eyes. "Tex is coming," he mouthed, "and he's angry this time." You try to see where Jeremy's eyeline is so you can follow it to big, bad Tex, reminding yourself to square your shoulders and breathe slowly. Jeremy's looking down though. Way, way down. "This...is Tex...?" you ask him. Jeremy says nothing, frozen. "Tex is a beagle?" He nods. Tex jumps up on you, eliciting a small scream from Jeremy. "He smells so bad, like cleaning supplies, I can't!" You look down at bright-eyed, lemon-colored Tex, tongue lolling out of a big dog smile. "She," you correct him, "smells really pretty to me... like clementines and vague powder, soft wood maybe..." you inhale the fur around Tex's neck. "I clean my house with those things!" Jeremy screams. "Well... then I guess you and Tex aren't meant to be around each other," you sigh at him. Turning to Tex, you whistle, "c'mon girl, let's go find a full-size version of you."

this is my favorite citrus perfume. i wore this for the first time during a really depressing and dark night and the smell of the sweet clementines really brought me back to my childhood of coming home from school and immediately watching popularmmos while eating oranges/fruits. citrus smells to me are relaxing. it is SO good and i usually don't like citrussy or lemony smells. after a while of wearing it, it dries down into this super pretty floral which i believe is the gardenia. it is so 'princess-y' to me and it does make me feel feminine. this is 101% unisex tho. i just have personal associations for certain smells. 10/10 would recommend.

Obsessed with how strong and unique this scent is. Sharp, almost sterile citrus that projects several feet and lasts. My favorite summer scent; the perfect antidote to too much sweat or sugar. I’d say this is a bitter citrus. I love how it’s unmistakeable in its femininity without being two things I don’t favor: powdery (aging) or sickly sweet (childish). Not a safe blind buy as a fragrance like this will react strongly with different skin chemistry. Skin that turns scents sweeter may have rotten fruit on their hands. One note in the best way, like fruit for breakfast. One of my all time favorites that I reach for again and again.

Picked this up after reading the notes and I can confidently say this is one of my favourite fragrances of all time. I tend to lean towards more masculine, woody fragrances which smell delicious, but haven’t really fit me and how I present myself. If anyone has listened to much Lana Del Rey, this fragrance reminds me a lot of her music. Clementine, gardenia, subtle wood notes. It’s very much giving a Wildflower Wildfire, Dance till we die and Venice B mashup in my opinion. It’s fresh and light and makes me very happy to wear! Will absolutely be my summer go-to!

This one was pretty unexpected, for whatever reason I almost skipped on adding it to the discovery set. I'm quite glad I didn't. The opening is just so pretty to me. The clementine and woodsy notes are blended well. Gardenia is there but only for a minute or two. I absolutely adore how much staying power that clementine has. I could smell it even hours after spraying, way after dry down. really lovely scent. Side note, with a name like "Red Dakota" I was fully expecting an apple note of some kind, but clementine is acceptable too I guess!

This is so bright, fresh, juicy and happy! A super casual, easy to wear, sunshiny, citrusy floral. I don't wear this one enough - but every time I do it immediately lifts my mood and reminds me I should wear it more often! I love the way the clementine brightens up the gardenia - these two play really nicely together. Red Dakota has nice sillage and great lasting power too! Really enjoy everything I've tried from DedCool (my favorite still being 02). They are a really fun and exciting brand!!

not really getting clementine from this, but it does smell like grapefruit peel in the best way. can be a little strong at first but settles fairly quickly into a nice even level of astringent, slightly bitter, fruity tang. the floral note supports rather than overtakes the fruitiness. a very refreshing scent!

i am not a citrus scents kind of person because they always just end up smelling like cleaning supplies on me but the gardenia alongside it in this really balances the citrus on my skin and it smells so fresh and pretty! it doesn’t last very long though and stays close to the skin, i do wish it was stronger

There is something I just love about this scent. The first spray is bright, candy like citrus. It dries down into something musky and laundry-like but still a little citrus-sweet. It smells like a sweater that's been worn all day by someone you've got a crush on. I don't know how else to describe it.

the clementine is more reminiscent of sweet grapefruit on my skin. i am not usually one to be inclined to indulge in citrus heavy scents. more often than not, i find them to smell like overpriced cleaning supplies. but this... this is so juicy and edible, i absolutely adore this fragrance.

This scent is pure clementine peel, slightly bitter yet exceptionally bright. I find Red Dakota to be quite linear, but I appreciate that the clementine remains prominent for a few hours, unlike most citrus-forward fragrances where the citrus note disappears once they dry down.

What a surprise! I wasn’t expecting to like this based on the reviews. I usually enjoy citrusy and fresh fragrances, but many of them can come across as too green or pungent. This one, however, is bright and sweet, and to me, it doesn’t give off any cleaning product vibes.

Opens with grapefruit like it's a sunny Saturday morning and my serrated spoon has just broken through the skin of the grapefruit and the juice squirts out a bit. Dies down into the most lovely amber scent. I really, really enjoy this one.

I got a sample of this recently. The citrus is bright and sharp, with gardenia and woody notes. This seems like a very modern scent. Great for the office or for a sunny spring day doing nothing in particular. Very unisex. I like it.

This is one of my favorite scents to wear when I'm feeling energetic or want to project confidence. It's so light and refreshing and smells exactly like you've just peeled an orange. I get a lot of compliments with this one.

dedcool fragrances all have a strange smell in the base that i don’t love but this is by far their best work and one of the best citrus fragrances i’ve tried.

This is such a gorgeous citrus scent. It's a bit of a dirty citrus, but that must be the amber and wood note. It has been my summer scent and I adore it!

LOVE this! very springy/summery. it has a lovely citrus smell without being too in your face. although i don't know if it really fits me personally (i think it might be too bright and citrusy for *me*) i thought the lack of notes would make me not like this, and initially i don't care for the concentrated citrus but it does settle down and once it does, less really is more. i did reapply once in the middle of school because i felt like i couldn't smell it too much on myself, but i also could have just gotten used to the smell since its not super crazy and in your face once it settles in my experience. i also have noticed some people compare the scent to a citrus cleaning product - i *kinda* see it but thats only if i really think about it because its definitely not the first thought that comes to mind when i smell this. it does have a nostalgic feel to it for me; like you're a little kid at your grandparents house, exploring and looking around inside because its too hot and sunny outside. tldr: love this fragrance!! i do hope however to wear it more and explore the scents to see if it fits me however because im still not 100% sure how i vibe with it

I am currently testing this out. I can’t tell if it’s a scent I like. I am already getting the vibe that it’s more of a nighttime summer scent. Even though it’s citrusy, it has a darker more mature element. I sampled Jo Malone’s Nectarine fragrance a while back and while I enjoyed it, it wasn’t the right fit for me - too fruity. This fragrance has something that makes it slightly edgier. Juicy but sharp and slightly dark. It’s very different from what I usually wear, I think taunt might be my favorite of the Dedcool line. This scent will leave more of a trail than that one. I’ll update my review as the day goes on to see how it lasts and how the scent changes. Update: so I actually really like this. I’m excited to try it in the spring and on hotter summer days. I don’t get any of that cleaning product smell. By the end of the day I only smelled woody notes. But generally I think this is a pleasant smell, that challenges my comfort zone but doesn’t make me feel self conscious around others.

red dakota is a fragrance thats very reminiscent of citrus peels. my first impression when i spray it is pepper spice, but if it was somehow made of citrus. after it dries, it turns into more of an ambery lemony tangerine smell, which i really do like. i really like this fragrance because i haven't really tried/seen an amber and citrus perfume. sadly it does lack the wildberry scent too much for it to be listed as a note in my opinion. red dakota is definitely a one-dimensional citrus scent, so dont expect a layered masterpiece. that being said, i could see it being really solid for layering during the spring/summer when the weather is warmer. overall, red dakota is a nice warm orange and lemon perfume. i think its kind of expensive for the longevity and projection, since theyre both pretty mediocre, but i dont think its a waste of money. id definitely recommend it for a summery citrus fragrance!

This scent was so interesting to me as I bounce back and forth all the time about how to wear this scent. When I first smelled this scent it reminded me oddly of sprite. The citrus and gardenia mixed to create this odd, but not unwelcome "luxury" sprite. It has a very sharp bite, and unlike a lot of the other dedcool scents, this would be very hard to layer. I found myself trying this on 40 degree mornings to remind myself that spring is coming, and that's wear this scent shines. It is a really clean/fresh scent for spring or summer days. It doesn't make a huge statement to others in the room, but is very good if you wear scents to make yourself feel good. A very unisex scent for a very decent price. I do agree with some of the other reviews on this board saying that this as a candle/air freshener would be amazing too if you don't want to explicitly smell like it.

I really loved this fragrance when I first tried it. It has a nice citrus 'punch' and isn't generic. The woodsy notes are strong, making it smell really unique; I can't really compare it to any other fragrance I've tried. I would almost guess that pepper was involved, but apparently it isn't. Unfortunately, it doesn't last. I doused my wrist in it this morning; it's now noon and completely gone. Another commenter noted that she was happy that she didn't get any compliments; I am the opposite! If others can't smell something–and especially if I can't–I feel like it's a useless endeavor. So all-in-all, smells interesting and unique, wish it had a bit more sillage and longevity.

I thought that this was nice. It started off as a super green citrus scent (very similar to Bath and Body Works White Citrus lol), but after about an hour, it only really smelled like gardenia and wood. I didn't get berry at all at any point. It was sweet and floral yet earthy, but it didn't stay super citrusy throughout its length. It did last for a long time, though. It didn't fully disappear until about eight hours after applying it, even if it was a very close-to-the-skin scent in the last two hours. I'd wear this again, but I would not pay $120 for a full bottle.

I quite like this scent. Spraying it on myself brings me so much joy - reminds me of when I was 23 at my first adult office job. I would eat clementines at my desk from time to time and it would bring me childish joy while underneath feeling existential dread. So there is something a little dark to it as well. Strong citrus start for me then settles to more of a skin scent after an hour or two and that is when the gardenia peeks through. I started with a travel size and may purchase a full bottle when I run out.

Update 8/23/24 I enjoyed this more after some time. I gave it to my husband and he wore it to work until the bottle was empty. I really enjoyed it on him and I definitely think it is more unisex than female. Very cool brand that is vegan and cruelty free. This has an intensity right out of the bottle. I had no problem recognizing the top and middle notes, however, the combination of clementine, woody and gardenia didn’t work well for me. Sadly this was a scrubber for me so I never got to smell the fruit accord.

At first whiff, my mind immediately took me back to being 12 years old on vacation with family friends in Palm Desert. It was 102 degrees, dry, and I had just started wearing deodorant. I also remember having a lot of fun and feeling free during that time. This isn't a cozy or juicy fragrance; the citrus notes are sharp and astringent. Like when you get a very sour clementine. Yes, it does have a somewhat cleaning product or soap quality, but when it's hot outside, I want to smell clean.

I bought this because the cost of the Hermes Rhubarbe Ecarlate is disproportionate to its longevity. Of course it’s not the same, but when spritzed lightly, it has a similar “G&T on a Balmy Evening” effect that I need where I live. I spray it onto my clothing prior to work when it’s hot and feel fresh and inoffensive. (I work in healthcare and need to share people’s personal space. I don’t want to assault them with a giant olfactory overwhelm when they may already be vulnerable.)

I totally see the appeal of this. Bright, juicy citrus with a smidge of woody intrigue. When I first smelled it, I was really excited. As the scent wore on, the complexity vanished and it was just clementine. Which is lovely, but not dimensional enough for me. It’s way better and more interesting than Clementine California, in my opinion, but still leaves something to be desired. I’ll definitely use my whole sample, but won’t be tempted to go full-bottle.

Very clean. Citrus is sharp. I like it on my skin and sprayed on my sheets/pillow for aromatherapy while lounging/sleeping. I’ve worn it out but didn’t get complimented and that’s good. Sometimes that can mean that it’s overwhelming to the person who commented and they might not necessarily like it. People have breathed deeply while around me but not said anything. I like the fragrance and recommend trying the sample packs.

This smells like strong earl gray tea and clean skin. The bergamot citrusy notes come on very strong at first and then it dries down to a softer clean skin scent. I think it's not an everyday scent for me, but I think it would be for someone!

I tried this in the dedcool sample set. It wears very close to the skin and I wish it was a little stronger because I do like it a lot. It’s very floral at first but it wears down to a sweet citrus scent.

Big fan of the white floral note in this. Also, the citrus in this isn't too sweet in case you were curious. If you're not obsessed with citrus or white florals, I would steer clear.

The gardenia is most prominent in this one, in a good way. I will say, though....I do enjoy it as a room freshener moreso than a perfume.

I think I'd prefer this in the car air-freshener form rather than on my body. Not bad, glad I sampled, and I do see the appeal.

to me this is like a citrus warm breeze in the middle of cedar trees. I love wearing this to the gym or running errands.

A sparkling, cheerful manderin...but on me it doesn't last and almost no sillage at all

Citrusy and white floral. Clean and bright.

After spending a long time trying to figure out how to wear this, I feel pretty comfortable saying the notes from the brand are misleading. This is not a juicy clementine scent-- it's incredibly dry and sharp. It reminds me of the dry sourness of Pony Boy and Delulu, except more dry. You like bitter blood orange notes and citrus rind? You'll probably like this. And the gardenia note is there, but it won't bother anyone who dislikes white florals. It is background noise and doesn't lend its usual creamy texture to this composition, which is a shame. The best way I can describe it is spiky. I'm always trying to layer it under something laconic and creamy to smooth out its harsh edges, and ti rarely works. The other formats DedCool's produced lack this sharpness, particularly the now-retired laundry detergent scent, which was the stuff of dreams. That being said, it's not a skin chemistry thing-- the sharpness shows up on a blotter as much as it does on my skin. When my mom wears it, it takes me a second to realize she's wearing Red Dakota, not an "uplifting" essential oil blend. I don't hate it. It's just hard for me to enjoy.

I really don't smell anything in this perfume other than clementine. It's a beautiful citrus, but all the other notes are just too subdued for Red Dakota to be interesting. It's like the gardenia and woody notes are fighting to be heard through the sharp sour fruit. It does last, though, so if you are looking for a straight orange scent that won't die on you, this is your perfume. It's the whole fruit, peel, zest, juice from the skin, everything. Still, it's too simple for me, personally. Really wish the gardenia came through on my skin.

smells like a juicy clementine upon initial spritz, then it disappears. I am so disappointed with how faint the Dedcool fragrances I've tested so far are... they are so incredibly light and lose intensity insanely fast. I know I am not crazy, I use the same amount of sprays for every perfume I test. the smell itself is solid clementine, sour and soapy (not necessarily cleaning product to me, more like a hand soap) but I'd personally get really bored of smelling like I just rubbed myself with fruit. I'll pass on this one

Dedcool can’t seem to make up its mind whether it wants to promote this as a bergamot or clementine fragrance, but if you buy it expecting a sweet juicy clementine you’re sure to be disappointed. Red dakota is a very sharp citrus, more along the lines of bergamot and grapefruit, bordering on cleaning supplies. Seeing as I ate a bowl of clementines seconds before I unboxed my sample, I can say with full confidence it’s hardly reminiscent of a freshly peeled orange.

this would be the perfect citrus fragrance for me if it wasn’t for the gardenia...the opening is everything i want and then the citrus dissipates quickly and i get a harsh & soapy gardenia until that goes away and im left with a sweet ambery dry down. maybe i could look past the gardenia but i simply dont want to because i want to believe that my perfect mouth watering juicy citrus fragrance that isn’t taken over by floral / woody notes is out there for me.

i like this scent, but it takes a bit to sink into the skin and smells similar to citrus-scented house cleaner or a citrus car air freshener. after it sinks in it smells nicely paired with my generic drug store deodorant from the men's section because i don't want to pay an extra 30 cents to smell like figs. after wearing it in a humid building all day it stayed on for a very long time, which was surprising. overall, it's not for me, but nice in general.

I bought this cuz of of a lot of the hype I’ve seen around it. Super let down by this lol. It’s not “bad” but it’s so boring it smells like hotel soap. To me this starts off as a dry citrus followed by a dry gardenia and musk. Definitely unisex but slightly on the feminine side. An inoffensive fragrance that would be good for working in close quarters to people. I wouldn’t repurchase. Nothing special. It’s very ‘meh’.

All citrus. Reminds me of Montecito from Abbott. Hollow clementine. Crisp and sharp but absolutely no freshness or interest (at the top). On skin it's brisk and bright. Slightly floral, not overwhelmingly so. Earthy sweet, not sour. Tart. If the gardenia is here, it's quiet (thank goodness). Softly green and gently soapy. Citrus settles as it wears, but it remains monotone and kind of soapy. Eh.

This is like a almost-ripe clementine in the opening. I don’t think its that sweet, however. There is a certain...unnatural aspect to it that I can’t quite put my finger on. Kind of chemically, kind of herbal. And when it dries down it becomes really synthetic. It’s like one of those GMO packed oranges you are served in school lunches.

Like biting into a Cutie! This has a sharp and bitter opening but gets more nuanced as it dries, revealing soft woody, ambery notes. I don’t really smell any gardenia to speak of - this is straight citrus to my nose. Very zesty and bright. Great for summer. Not really my style though, it’s not sweet enough for my taste.

Sharp, almost bitter clementine. Leans toward cleaning product but fortunately the amber and berries even it out a bit. It’s not a sweet perfume though by any means. Meh, there’s better orange-citrus scents out there (like Tangerine Boy). I’ll pass to my husband to see if it works better on him.
