Dark Matter by Degrhaal is a magnetic and mysterious olfactory journey that plays on the contrast between light and darkness. It was born out of a moment of depression by nose extraordinaire Nabil Dridi, who wanted to create a fragrance that on the one hand reflected his emotions of that moment and, on the other hand, helped him out of that difficult moment. This contrast makes the fragrance unforgettable and emotionally charged (I cried when I heard the story). For those who like dark scents, but with a hopeful undertone, it is a must have!

This perfume is very smoky, with a heavy burnt wood accord, not my style.

This fragrance takes you on a ride, that is for sure. I thought I had it confused with Ambra Telluris because that had a lava note and this is so aggressively spicy and smokey I thought for sure the sample bottle was mixed up, but nope. I am sooo glad I did not blind buy this one based on the notes which I thought would be moody and melancholic like dried soft purple flowers and ink on an old leather bound book. Instead its like chilli level spice and SCREECHING burnt leather, it keeps ramping up until it's burnt plastic and finally after 2 hours is it tolerable and enjoyable but I would not even be close to considering purchasing this after the olfactory savagery this put my nose through. You need to LOVE scents like TRex and Terroni because this is a level up until it cools down.

This fragrance is incredible - it takes me on a journey I didn't know I needed. Right out the gate it it VERY smokey very campfire (but not overbearing) with a super subtle sweetness. The longer it's on my skin the more beautiful it gets. The smoke clears over time, with the vanilla and florals really coming through after about an hour. It's not an ice cream/candy vanilla but a dark sensual one. As the hours go on that vanilla starts to fade into something like the very nostalgic scent of strawberry shortcake doll hair - subtly sweet, powdery, and plastic (but not artificial in the slightest). It lasts all day. After the heavy smoke in the beginning fades with the dry down I can't help but sniff my wrists all day. Gorgeous. <3
