I only smell tar. On the other hand, I like tar. And yes: it doesn't last very long at all.

Perfectly OK, mellow, sweetish, budget incense whose performance is sadly no better than the tiny price buys you. It's warm and gentle and wouldn't offend - nothing rankly smoky or weirdly spicy - but really no more than a slightly fuzzy aura of church that sits so close to the skin you'd have to be only centimetres away from it, to even detect its presence. A pleasant little whisper but not a patch on other incenses higher up the cost scale (Piguet Casbah, Lutens L'Orpheline for instance) which have far more character and presence. Worth a try if you find many incenses too overpowering, but still want a discreet, slightly woody/resiny feel. Don't expect miracles though. This is weak-sauce Anglicanism, not full-on Catholic pageantry, in church terms.

Doesn't exactly smell like the incense used in my Church, but it does smell incense-y. When you first spray it on, there is deep sharpness that hits me in the pit of my stomach, but it's quite soft and nice after it dries down. Unfortunately, as with all Demeter fragrances, by the time it has dried down, it has practically disappeared.

Wow this smells surprisingly niche! It's quite medicinal (others interpret it as spicy) and dusty-bitter, almost potpourri-like. So yeah, I'm pleasantly surprised, but was hoping for more incense (I almost got Frankincense but was afraid it'd be too mellow.. Any comparisons?)

Sacred Heart church in Abilene Texas. Christmas time, christmas mass. A heavy pomander being swung before church began to perfume everything. An overpowering scent of old people everywhere (powdery) mixed with the yule incense. Sweet, smokey and a bit old school.

Fragrance Review For Holy Smoke Demeter Fragrance Spices Incense Well of course there are much better deeper more complex and masterful incense fragrances out there. I have some authentic incense at home and some Arabic Middle Eastern incense fragrances. This would almost go there had the longevity not been an issue. It's a ghostly incense that wafts out of the bottle and into your nostrils for a short while before it disappears. It reminds me of the Edgar Allan Poe passage from The Raven "then me thought the air grew denser, perfumed by some unseen censor, swung by Seraphim". This is a realistic Catholic Sunday Mass censor smell. The incense is resinous, spiced up, aromatic and smoky as it can get but the smoke dies down fast. Beautiful though and a clever recreation. I will perfume the air of my home with this now and then although I do love real incense. For some fantastic incense I love to scent my home with Sultana by Al Rehab.

crazy shit absurd! it has nothing to do with the incense used in the church, initially the smells of the chemical smoke, it looks like smoke but it is not ... you smell bitter olive .... then it dries in an absurdly annoying powder that seems to be immersed in the middle of pure powder ... this perfume is the most absolute dirt we've ever smelled ... do you want an economic incense? at the same price take Alyssa Ashley oud pour lui ... Spectacular for the price

When I smell this, I am instantly reminded of Good Friday, Palm Sunday, Ash Wednesday...It smells exactly like the incense burned at mass. It is warm and smoky and makes me think of rosary beads, communion wafers, and crucifixes. The cologne doesn't last long, but the massage oil does. I like this. It is a nice, easy-to-wear scent and I especially like the name.

The first two minutes are very nice. The St. Louis cathedral here in New Orleans smells very close to this. Then comes the most awful wet diaper smell. So sorry to be crass, I am a lady after all. Please trust me when I say it, wet diaper. Test this first, I beg you. Then throw it in the garbage. Or better still, a diaper pail.

Holy Smoke + Frankincense + Myrrh = Christmas mass This may be my favorite combo yet! FYI: the above are 3 different Demeter perfumes that I mix together. It seems like Demeter fragrances are made to be mixed because they aren’t interesting on their own.

Th is is very faint all the way through. I thought it s started out smelling like candle wax and candy cigarettes. In the final drydown incenseish but not quite resinous enough.

Beautiful smell of I science but doesn't last at all. They've really captured the smell during Mass but as with that smell it fades when the censor's put away.

wow..... one says smells like xmass mass the next says no incense in it like a church.Is it or not like a church?
