Jasmine

First, to the people saying this doesn't smell like jasmine: there are about 200 different types of jasmine flowers in nature, and not all smell the same! This is a creamy, indolic, hyper-realistic "Arabian Jasmine" - the night-blooming kind whose blossoms close up again in the morning; found in Southern California and Arizona (and other places - those are just the two states where I've personally smelled these). To me, real-life Arabian Jasmine smells like a blend of: - creamy (parallel to the gardenia) - sweet (honeysuckle-like floral nectar) - hint of "yellow indolic" (frangipani/banana - the "bubble gum" quality some mention) THIS is that smell! It took me right back to smelling these in my yard on a warm summer night as a kid; I almost cried because of all the memories it brought back. I cannot believe Demeter captured this so well - it's pure magic. The most true-to-life Arabian Jasmine I've ever laid my nose on in a perfume, and the best part: it's a solinote! The jasmine is the star of the show, with nothing else to drown it out. It does start out a tad synthetic - but give it a few moments to really bloom. If you love Arabian Jasmine, you'll love this!

Oh my lucky stars. I have been pining for a straight up "IN YO FACE" jasmine and the other day I was at the drug store. A rack of Demeter fragrances, roll on oils only (which I have never seen sold retail, so...weird, go figure) was sitting there. There was baby powder (yuck), pure soap (nothin') and ONE jasmine left with my name on it. $2.50!!! It is strong, white, heady & everything I wanted it to be in more. It does start to smell synthetic quite quickly on my skin...I'm sure it isn't pure fragrance oil at all but synthetics mixed with a carrier, but I am happy with my purchase and will enjoy it around the house before bed this Spring...this could SERIOUSLY offend peoples noses because it is a WHITE, BOLD, FUNERAL HOME FLORAL but I LOVE it. If you like tuberose bases, try this. It's awesome. If not....RUN.

Such a pure, freshly bloomed, green, plush, gel-like jasmine. Makes me think of the word 'gelsomino' (Italian for jasmine). The greenness isn't sharp but plush, almost like jasmine essential oil whipped into aloe-vera gel. This has good projection and longevity, and leaves an oily sheen which leads to a nice bloom on the skin of whipped white-floral with a hint of grape koolaid. I would probably wear this in spring or summer, but performance is good enough to wear year round and it would also be great for layering. Love it. Enjoy! Update 07/12/25: layered this today beside Charuto Tobacco Vanille Paris Corner (a Tobacco Vanille Tom Ford dupe). Love the way they complement each other. This is an excellent layering jasmine as other reviewers have mentioned. Love it still.

Jasmine by Demeter Fragrance. I have spent hundreds of dollars looking for a Jasmine scent that isn’t indolic and doesn’t contain cloves, leather, or ylang-ylang. I have searched designer and niche houses looking for Jasmine presented purely, without drowning in a bed of other white florals. Jasmine by Demeter was a might-as-well last ditch purchase. I thought it would get tossed because it’s so cheap, but to my surprise it turned out to be the Jasmine of my summertime dreams! This is Jasmine, absent of any indolic or citrus notes, wrapped in a gauzy honey glaze. It warms wonderfully on the skin and is light enough to wear on the hottest of days, without ever becoming cloying. It’s absolutely beautiful.

This is a great animalic jasmine. While not identical, it reminds me of Lush Lust. This Jasmine also made me realize how much jasmine is in my favorite tuberose perfumes. I can wear this for an evening with generous spraying and I will smell it on my sheets in the morning. It projects well too. Maybe those having poor performance are underspraying. I was pleasantly surprised by this fragrance as I haven’t had the best of luck with this house. Of course it is linear throughout

This is my favorite of all the Demeter fragments I have tried! It just smells beautiful like real Jasmine! Someone even told me hey it smells like Jasmine here ♡ I'm getting lots of complements. I recommend! Ps. I can't stand strong scents because they give me headaches and nausea, so I am very picky. Jasmine is gentle, natural and long lasting. Just perfect.

This is a beautiful fragrance. It smells like bubble gum to me for some reason. Like the old school bubblicious gum for kids lol. But in a very very good way! It’s like bubble gum and jasmine and I’m here for it! This is bright and great for mixing with other perfumes for a perfect touch! I love this!

When I don't want to "waste" my Olene by Diptyque, I splash myself with this one like crazy and it works great! But it is better used as body mist, as it does not tend to last very long.

Im ascending. it smells so good. It smells like the honeysuckles in my backyard EXACTLY. MAANNN. this was my first time getting a demeter fragrance and I'm not dissapointed whatsoever.

Love it - defnitely jasmine, sweet fresh jasmine with no artificial undertones at all. Amazing sillage and longevity for the price. I like to layer this with honey.

i smell just like jasmine tea! realistic and delicious, as a 1# jasmine enjoyer i’m very satisfied. doesn’t last the longest but that’s common for demeter

All my life I've been looking for THE European jasmine perfume (specifically - Northern European) and I think this might come quite close. I still want to compare this with actual jasmine when it starts to bloom in May/June, but I'm hopeful. In the beginning it's quite reminiscent of jasmine essential oils and oil infusions you can get in Europe, which are pretty close to the original, but get a bit of a dirty musky oiliness from the base oil, which I really dislike. This also has a little bit of that. I feel like it misses a little bit of the airiness of a blooming jasmine flower. It's like where air/water should be, there's oily dirty musk. So far I'm satisfied, but pairing this with an aquatic/ozonic perfume or like a more "polished" jasmine like "Gorgeous Jasmine" is bringing it about 99 percent to the original. It's like the oils as well as this perfume make the mistake of making the jasmine oily/musky, while the "polished" (by which I mean the more curated, not necessarily elevated) fragrances make it too soapy and screechy. In any case, kudos to Demeter (or Library of Fragrance in Europe). I'm not sure I've arrived at what I'm searching for just yet.

This fragrance was an awakening for me. I had no idea the dramatic difference in what people identify as “jasmine” depending on where in the world they were exposed to the scent of the flower. I had expectations that this would smell similar to the “star jasmine” plant which is common throughout Australia and Asia, the jasmine smell you associate with jasmine rice. However, this scent was a surprise with how much of a musky undertone it had and in no way reminded me of an what I believe to be jasmine. I was confused by all of the rave reviews it received by others preaching how identical the fragrance was to their memories of blooming jasmine flowers, only to find out that what Australians/Asian’s may expect to smell from this fragrance we will not get as we are not exposed to the same variety of jasmine that those in Europe (and the makers of this fragrance at Demeter) are smelling. If you’re a fan of the sweet and refreshing jasmine variety we have outside of Europe and America this may end up being a disappointment. This one is a different scent, quite a thick and deep floral scent with a musky undertone.

I got sent this as an extra in a swap last year in the oil version, and I sniffed it at the time but forgot about it. In reorganizing some of my travel sprays and decants, I came upon it again and decided to dab some on. It is indeed slightly sweet, green-leaning, strong jasmine toeing the line towards indolic but not becoming stanky when on the skin. Historically Demeter scents don't last long on me, but since this is both an oil and a soliflore, I am having better luck. There are surely other oils out there that smell exactly like this, but I am glad that I got this one by chance. Since it is an oil, I might mix a little bit of it into some lotion. This kind of warm jasmine smells like early summer in California, so to me it is an instant mood booster. I am shocked that something so small and simple has pleased me this much, but I am also delighted! For the record, I am clearly a big-time jasmine lover. If you don't like jasmine, why are you even here??

Jasmine is one of my favorite perfume notes, so I was of course going to try this eventually. I really do enjoy it, though I will fully admit it's not perfect. There is very little lasting power, and it smells almost exactly like the Honeysuckle scent (not very surprising). In other words, there's really no need to purchase both. It is not as big of a jasmine bomb as Lush Lust, which was my first major jasmine fragrance. However, this one has a slightly sharp twinge when I first apply it. I can only really describe it as slightly pollen-like, as it makes my eyes water slightly. It goes away quickly, and is the only negative part of that scent journey for me.

I'm picky about florals. I really only like fruity or vanilla-tinged florals in my collection, but I can appreciate a floral in home fragrance or when someone else wears it. This fragrance was tested on a paper strip, and I thought it was quite pleasant for a floral. It made me think of how much I miss Bath and Mody Works' Malibu Sunset hand soap (sweet lemon, jasmine, and peony) and wanted it in a fragrance spray. Maybe one of the foolproof blending collections by Demeter can help someday...

I recently picked this up at Marshall's and was so happy I did! It's straight-up jasmine. No surprises here. Just strong, sweet, jasmine. I know it had been commented previously that there is no longevity, but for me, it lasted quite a while. At least 5-6 hours, decent in my opinion. It's strong, yes, but I wouldn't say that it's nauseatingly so. The scent will not precede you by 500 feet! For the cheap price ($6.99 at Marshall's), it's very well worth it.

such a beautiful and simple jasmine scent. reminds me of the jasmine flowers in my garden but with a more syrupy and almost liquorice-like scent when wore on my skin. i sometimes like to use this as a room spray or directly on my curtains so that the wind will carry the sweet, fresh scent of jasmine throughout my room. goes great layered with the elizabeth arden green tea scent spray to form a light jasmine green tea scent.

Jasmine is a typical Demeter fragrance--a soliflore with soft projection and poor longevity. It's a pretty jasmine that tends to smell a bit like a candle more than a perfume. I was hoping for a bit more longevity as I purchased the oil rollerball instead of the spray, but it lasts a couple of hours tops....but it DOES smell nice while it lasts!

I have the roll-on oil and I like this. It is a fresh strong jasmine but I find it a bit too much on its own. So I'm having lots of fun layering it with others, especially a citrus I have that is a bit too masculine. Sillage is pretty good for an hour or so but by 2 hrs it is all but gone..

Easy and basic jasmine. Opening reminds me of the way jasmine smells in my loose jasmine tea when I first open it. Very green and fresh. When it dries down it smells exactly like the blooming jasmine I've smelled. I like it!

A wonderful jasmine. Slightly indolic, somewhat sweet, completely beautiful. It makes me think of laying in a field of flowers on a sunny day. Too bad it’s not very long lasting.

Demeter's Jasmine is lovely. It's sweet, warm, and delicate. Very nice! I plan to blend this with some other Demeter samples I have. It will be fun to try different combinations.

I got this just now and it smells divine!!! It reminds me of Jasmine Rouge by Tom Ford but this one is not complex. I'm planning to mix with Poison Girl edp I hope it'll work.

Its a very pure and natural jasmine to me, one of the best jasmines I've tried, v floral, flirty, feminine and fresh.

Pure Jasmine. Nothing more nothing less.

I thought I liked it, but then I wore it for the stage. Over time, I thought I had bad B.O. and sprayed some more. But it turned out to be the perfume itself, souring and smelling just terrible.

I wanted to smell the jasmine in Thailand, and there is some of that, but also something mucosal. It's good layered with Demeter gardenia, though.

I wanted to love this perfume SO much -- I was looking for a nostalgic scent that would throw me back to the time when I was stuck in my little office for 16~ hours a day, sipping on green tea with jasmine, while I worked on various projects. This perfume basically brings you a dump-truck full of jasmine and runs you over with it. It's probably fine if you can tune out scents for a little while as they mellow out... I cannot.... and I felt like I was being followed around by a little scent-fairy being like "HEY DID U FORGET ABOUT THE JASMINE TEA?! OK HERE IT IS!" whether I wanted a reminder or not.

So first I loved this. My mother has an arabian jasmine plant in her house and the top notes of this are exactly that. HOWEVER. There is definitely something synthetic in this that tips into sour/acidic. It starts to smell like bathroom spray air freshener after you've sniffed it for a while. My bottle was only 9$ so I don't feel too bad. Test before you buy - if you still like it 1 hour later you're golden. Edit: if you like this but it goes sour on you, try Kai, it smells 95% similar but has no sourness.

A beautiful jasmine with honeysuckle nuances. LOVED it, that is until it dried down and turned into moth balls shoved up an ass. I never understood when people said jasmine smelled like BO or animals, feces, etc until I smelled this drydown. I understand it probably has more to do with jasmine itself rather than demeter. Unfortunate dry down, the rest of the perfume is lovely.

I first bought a bottle of the Jasmine back in 2010, and it must have changed since then because mine smelled nothing like jasmine. I sent it back. Jasmine is one of my all-time favorite notes so I'm extremely picky about it.

Dusty and artificial jasmine. I think Demeter is using a similar Jasmine accord in Fox in the Flower Bed by Imaginary Authors because they are both very detergent-like jasmines. Smells inexpensive and generic.

I got the perfume oil roll-on version of this fragrance on clearance for $2 at Walgreens a few years ago. I've never used any other fragrances from Demeter, but from reading about them on this website, it seems like they all have one or just a couple of notes, nothing complex. Not an issue. I sometimes wear this as my fragrance for the day, but have recently realized that it can also be used for aromatherapeutic purposes. (Over the past month or two, I've started using peppermint oil to keep myself awake at work when I hit the afternoon slump.) The calming jasmine smell makes it a good choice to apply before bed.

I bought this for my wife, for Valentines Day. VERY realistic jamine smell!! If you've ever encountered wild jasmine that's in bloom, that's what this stuff smells like. Also among the longer-lasting Demeter offerings, i sprayed some on at least 3 hours ago and i can still lightly smell it. She loves it!! I gave it to her as soon as she woke up, and she immediately took the bottle into the bedroom and sprayed her pillow and blanket, and laid back down to engulf herself in jasmine. I think she fell back asleep, lol!! I'll personally rate this 8/10, it performs well for a Demeter, and smells VERY real. Good stuff.

Not overly sweet, green, heady, waxy. Reminds me of Lush’s Lust, but not as indolic and obviously no white florals besides jasmine. REALLY reminds me of the store Anthropologie, maybe because the waxiness makes it smell like their thirty dollar candles. Definitely a better candle scent than the Yankee Candle vibes of Demeter’s BLUE SPRUCE which I HATE. Actually I think it reminds me of Anthropologie because it smells a lot like Pacifica’s Waikiki Pikake, which I bought from an Anthropologie in 2011.

Once in a while Demeter gives you a surprise with some decent longevity! Jasmine was sold at T.J. Maxx about 10 years ago and my bottle is pretty old. A good value at $4.99 ! The best way to describe this : imagine an Alien flanker called "Alien Green". There are some hints of Lush's Lust in there. IF you are a jasmine-a-holic ; do not hesitate ! GRADE : B . (A serious jasmine collector would give this an "A" ). This layers magnificently with a cigarette or smoke type fragrance !

Incredibly inexpensive Jasmine that is big and frilly! -- almost smells like LUSH's Lust and Mugler Alien had a baby ! $6.99 at T.J. Maxx ! I bought 3 bottles ! This is the most bombastic Demeter in my collection. Longevity is better than most Demeters . Worth a BLIND BUY for Jasmine-Heads and a safe "go to" cause it's CHEAP enough !! And probably a staple in your collection is you like Lust and Alien !

I bought the roll-on and initially liked it a lot. THen, it started smelling cheap and overly sweet--like air "freshener" (which I tend to detest). Then, I mixed the roll on with Demeter Lilac cologne spray (which mellowed it out). It wasn't bad. I'm not sure whether I like the Jasmine roll-on or not. Maybe it's too strong as a roll-on. Maybe as a spray cologne it's better?

I bought this perfume in Marshall's and for a great price. I was a little apprehensive because I've smelled perfumes that claimed to smell like "Jasmine" and was disappointed. THIS smells literally like Jasmine flowers. I bought this immediately! Love love love. I wore this at a wedding and received a compliment. :)

This is a wonderful, fresh jasmine scent. I was floored by how similar it is to Serge Luten's A la Nuit, so, so close, although Demeter doesn't have quite the subtle musk/clove undertone upon drydown. It also does not give as strong a projection. Still an absolutely delightful, bright, slightly honeyed jasmine

definitely doesnt smell like a jasmine plant, its alright but its more green than expected. kind of smells like leaves with a bit of jasmine. as far as i remember it smelled really good layered with demeter blood lime but i tried to layer it with demeter vetiver and it smelled like toothpaste on me?

A house I lived in in Monterey had an heavy arch of jasmine over the french doors going to a back garden. With the doors wide open the ocean breeze fills the house with a wave of uplifting jasmine. I can't believe how cheap it is to recreate that moment with this bottle.

It's got that bubble-gummy quality -- make sure that's the jasmine scent you're going for if you're leaning towards this at all. Any time I wear this someone tells me I smell like a literal flower field.

I'm getting this in two days! I'll comment ASAP!! I love jasmine, so I have all my fingers crossed.
