Pure Soap

I spotted this at my local TJ Maxx for $3! In the bottle, it smells soapy of course. But once you spray it on your skin, it gets better. The chemistry of your skin mixed with the scent in the bottle is so nice! No doubt, I'm sure it won't work for everyone, but for me it did. The scent is so comforting and fresh, with a bit of sweetness to it. I wouldn't say it smells just like Ivory soap, but maybe if you took Ivory and mixed with a few other elements and added some sweetness to it, that would be pretty close. I spritzed one spray of this right after my shower and snuggled into bed. I kept catching whiffs of this and was in heaven! Also, I was rather surprised to be able to still smell this fairly well the next morning. I thought for sure it would've been long gone. Nope, it was still there and at a decent strength. This scent for me is probably more of a stay-at-home fragrance. Something I'll reach for when I want to feel like I'm bundled up in a fluffy soft blanket, nice and warm!

I looove this! I am a sucker for clean smelling scents and this is instant love the moment I sniffed it. It really really smells like a fresh clean bar of soap. It actually makes me so happy everytime I spray it because the scent gives me that warm giddy, relaxing, squeaky clean and freshly scrubbed feeling. I totally get the Ivory soap connection. It's like if Ivory has a flanker that is more rich in aroma this would be it. I have 2 other Demeters too. The Baby shampoo i'm not really a fan because it smells kinda synthetic to my nose. The other Demeter I have that I also adore is Baby Powder. I love that so much I instantly made a huge dent out of it. For now since Pure Soap is the newest in my collection this is my current favorite. Happiness in a bottle! Can't wait to try other clean type Demeter scents soon...

Yep exactly as Rezzmail and The Wolf describe below. Except I would say this doesn't quite smell exactly like Ivory soap. Ivory happens to be my body soap of choice and I'm holding a bar up to my nose. This Demeter Pure Soap actually smells more elegant, expensive and refined than Ivory soap. Something closer to Castile soap. Now, this Pure Soap does what it's supposed to do very well. Very well. I like it a lot. I could see this beings someone's signature "office scent", even for a FragHead. Now this won't compete, artistically, with a Penhaligon Castile, which happens to be my currently designated #1 soapy frag. But in that regard it's all about purpose and expectations. Demeter Pure Soap is very nice. I spray heavily on shirt and it does what I expect.

I spent twenty minutes today deciding between this & "clover" & went w/ pure soap because it reminds me of a shower in a bottle (not a substitution for one, of course). The smell evokes a sense of innocence for me & really captures that classic bar-of-soap smell. I feel like this is something you could wear & get away w/ some naughty behaviour of your choice in and no one would suspect you of anything simply because you're smelling so soft, sweet & clean. I could aslo this as being an excellent scent for layering as it is quite sheer & has minimal projection. That said I've had it on for a few hours & it's still going strong. Definitely a staple in my wardrobe.

I guess I remember using a different Ivory soap than everyone else. To me that is what I get...pure Ivory soap! Not masculine or feminine...just clean good ol Ivory soap. I love that they put a rubber ducky on the icon, because you can't wear this stuff and not feel SQUEAKY CLEAN! I am different than the majority...most people use the term "soapy" as a derogatory term in the fragrance world...however that is an accord I strive to acquire in my collection. It's a love here!

Smells just like you put your nose up to a bar of Ivory soap. I can even smell the fatty nuance of the soap. Hyper realistic, fresh and clean. Perfect for the office or anywhere else where fragrances aren't appropriate or people are sensitive to them. My bottle has a bit of projection as well and longevity is about 6-7 hours which great for the price. On clothing I can smell it for days. If you love soap buy this 🫧 Scent 8/10 Performance 6/10

Exactly what you would expect a white bar of soap to smell like! This is actually the kind of scent I was expecting frome Clean Skin from demeter, wich in my opinion was a little more on the mature and powdery side of soapy. This one is more timeless and generic, wich i prefer when I want to smell fresh out of the shower like... It's a winner for me!

Lol I didn't know this fragrance was for women when I bought it from Amazon (I'm a man). To me, it seems unisex. I quite like Pure Soap, as it smells just like I bathed with Ivory soap rather than sprayed cologne on. I don't think this could offend anyone. Perfect daily wear pick-me-up.

It smells like clean soap with lilac accord. I don’t know if anyone else picks up lilac, but I do. I love it! Another soap scent I love is Aldehyde 44 from Le Labo, but these two smell so different from each other! Wow! It’s really nice.

I finally bought a little bottle of this after curiosity began getting to me. I adore soapy scents and laundry fresh scents (minus aquatics). Sometimes it’s nice to smell like good hygiene and amazingly fresh skin, without smelling like a particular food, flower or the likes. They are amongst my favourite style of accord. This is the smell of soap indeed. There is no doubt about it. They have nailed soap. However, if you are expecting a lux, expensive or sophisticated soap smell - this is not it. This is much sweeter and more aquatic than I would usually like in my clean soapy fragrances. It smells much like cheap hand wash or the large family sized bottles of Children’s bubble bath. Nothing wrong with that I suppose. There is a certain sharpness and fattiness lacking for me. I realise now what makes my favourite soapy fragrances smell great for me, is the presence of modern aldehydes, then applied lightly. It just gives that expensive, well presented woman vibe. This does not smell bad. In fact, it smells quite good and would work on a hot day. A few hours after it had dried down, it left a pretty scent trail on my dressing gown that I got wafts of all evening. That’s where I think it will stay :)

This came in a pack with Baby Powder and Clean Skin, I probably wouldn't have bought it by itself. I was hoping it would smell like Jergens bar soap, to me that is the epitome of a clean soapy smell. Like a few other reviewers I was hoping for that "wraped up in a towel after a bubble bath" smell. Unfortunately, it smells more like a public restroom cleaner. And honestly, if I didn't know what this was I would think it was just a cheap mens cologne from the flea market. I don't get a strong soap impression from this. That being said, it's not a bad smell. I'll probably throw it in my backpack as a back-up cologne or put it in the washroom as an air freshner.

Pure Soap is really true to its name if the soap here we are talking about is the type of white, simple, supermarket home brand soap, which normally have a hint of discreet floral smell and the powdery/soap smell which makes you think of clean white towels. Somehow Pure Soap bares a similar essence as Prada Infusion Fleur D’oranger, of course Pure Soap doesn’t have any singular typical distinguishable floral notes. The drawback of this Demeter perfume is, the blast of Vodka smell in the beginning is quite off-putting and the sillage or lasting power is quite poor.

This is like Camay soap. I'm not sure if I would reach for this any other time except bedtime. Reminds me of childhood. A nice bath and fresh pj's then off to bed. My childhood was not pleasant but simple things like this everyone can relate to and it has childhood memories attached to it. It reminds me to enjoy the simple pleasures in life. If nothing else I have the smell of soap to remind me at the very least I was clean and warm. That's why I love fragrance so much. One whiff can take you on a journey.

Soft, clean, fresh, and inoffensive. I got this from Demeter as a free gift. I like it, unlike the Clean fragrance line. But I usually wear this to the gym, I really like the clean smell - it masks the gym smell nicely. I think it's a bit like Ivory soap, but with a little light musk tossed in. Not as "sharp" as Ivory - and a bit more complex.

Smells nice just like soap, simple scent and make you feel like summer and bedroom at the same time. I prefer it could be a warm bubble hot bath scent like you come out from the shower, but it turns out very simply dry soap feels, anyway overall it stills good. will purchase again if i couldn't find another better scent like this.

The reviewer below me nailed it. It smells like a hand soap from a public restroom. But it's a nice smell. I actually like this one. Not for putting on my body/clothes but for misting on bedding and stuff. It's very fresh.

I like this a lot. It is a "just stepped out of the shower" sort of refreshing smell. However, it smells NOTHING like Ivory soap. This fragrance is much sweeter. It is a very girlie soap smell. Perhaps like Caress?

I liked it a lot; my boyfriend hated it...said it smelled like the air fresheners they pop into the urinals in the men's room : ( maybe it was fitting that i dropped it onto the bathroom tile floor.

Smells of Ivory soap to me. Clean and fresh. Not my favorite but I do love to spray it on my linens for a just washed feel. Not bad at all. I lean more toward edible scents but this was enjoyable.

the perfume I wear to clean my house or get my life together. tbh its a little less feminine than id like it to be, id love a feminine soapy fragrance, but its pretty good.

buyer beware: i layered this with Demeter's Grass and the smell that resulted was reminiscent of the sanitized toilet water in a porta potty. don't get me wrong, i love soapy fragrances and think I would love the scent on it's own, i just don't think I could bare the heartbreak of another pretty minimalistic fragrance that can't last more than an hour or two.

Smells like a white bar of soap truly. Don't look for much more than that, this fragrance is exactly what the name says pure soap. On skin 1-2 hours max if that.

I really loved this one when I first bought it. I love anything that smells clean. :) But there is something chemical and sickening about it. My nose tells me that it shouldn't smell this way? This isn't what it seems and can't figure out why the nausea... so so sad. I really wanted to like this one... gave it away to a friend. It unfortunately gives me a headache even in small doses. Goodbye, Pure Soap... it was almost love. :) lol. So sorry.

Smells nothing like Ivory soap, and I grew up with Ivory so I should know. Just shows you need to be careful about which reviews you go by. Doesn't even smell much like soap. There's a hint of lily of the valley, something sour though not citric, and, uh, is there such a thing as a plastic note? If it weren't for the bottle, I'd have thought I was smelling some sort of industrial cleanser. I can't believe people wear this.

wouldn't have purchased this. received it as a free gift with an order. so far it's been the most long-lasting Demeter scent i've tried. and one of the more headache-inducing. it doesn't smell like Ivory. and it doesn't smell like soap, either (as in unscented old fashioned soap). it's a very high-pitched, ozone-y scent. definitely leans toward the masculine, i think.

I was disappointed from this :( I LOVE soapy scents and thought this was gonna smell like dove soap but it just smells like a restaurant bathroom to me I don’t really get soap from this but I do smell some florals I got a sample size but I won’t be repurchasing

I have this, and honestly..it's kind of disappointing. At first when you spray it, you get a clean soap but then the dry down..is kinda nasty? Due to that, I never wore it by itself but I'll honestly be selling it tbh

VERY SWEET soap cent. And with very sweet, I mean a little too sweet! If it smelled a little less sweet and maybe a little more fresh, I would like it much better. I will finish the bottle, but not buy it again.

I agree with reviews that say this does not smell like Ivory soap, there is no creaminess. It does, on my skin, smell like heavy detergent flakes.

The scent is like those mouldy old bars of soap you get in schools and public toilets that you'd rather not use

Generic white bar of soap. Quickly fades into soap film smell. Fresh out of the shower clean skin.

This was my very first Demeter fragrance. I absolutely love smelling like I just stepped out of the shower, so I figured I’d give Pure Soap a shot – and I am so glad I did. To me, this smells like pure Ivory soap, fresh, clean, nothing unnatural, nothing chemical. I don’t get the public restroom hand soap smell – this smell just like old fashioned Ivory soap to me. Its phenomenal. It is crisp and clean, and I really do wish it lasted forever. It does last longer on clothing than it does on skin... but I still need to use a ton to smell it just myself. I doubt anyone else could smell it if they passed me in the hallway. Only if they were standing right on top of me I think. I love clean scents, and for me, this one tops the chart. I’ll be buying it again and again as I run out. From reading the reviews, it seems to smell like a different type of soap to everyone – interesting! Besides the Ivory soaps, there was a time that I used handmade lye soap that was fragranced “Clean Scent”, and while the scent wasn’t strong – Pure Soap also reminds me of that experience. I love it – and its perfect for any time of day, office wear, going out, and I especially love it just before bed. So comforting.

12/03/19 - I work in the healthcare field so, in order to be courteous to my patients (who don’t have the stomachs for anything above clean scents), I specifically look for frags which smell like “just out of the shower” but lasting my entire shift - which is 12+ hrs. Demeter Pure Soap delivers on the fresh shower scent. But, my heart breaks to realize it lasts no longer than an hour. They should have named it Pure Disappointment! I’ve had body mists last longer than this. If you’re a woman looking for a work-safe, clean smelling frag that lasts and lasts with lots of compliments (even my less-than-healthy pt’s complimented it) - look up “Leila Lou” by Rosie Jane. It lasted my entire shift!

I love this simple, pure, clean and fresh scent. It smells just like the name indicates, soap! I don't think this smells anything like Ivory soap as some of the reviews indicate. I create my own fragrance and body products and I have a line based on the Ivory scent and Pure Soap smells nothing like it in my opinion. It definitely smells like soap though, just a different soap. For me, the staying power is poor but for the price, you can layer it on with lotion to give it a boost. If you are looking for a simple soap and shower fresh scent, this is a good choice. Personally, I love to smell clean and shower fresh all day, this fragrance does just that. Love it!

I'm starting to really not trust any reviews on any perfume from anyone. People just wanna sound fancy about scents but never realistic. Wanna know what Pure Soap smells like? Get a bottle of cheap bubbles. Any kind of bubbles. You know the ones that kids play with and blow to make bubbles? Yeah sniff a bottle of that liquid. This is exactly what this smells like. It open up as rubbing alcohol then turns into that. Like a very cheap dish washing liquid. And it leaves an oily glisten on your skin too. Never gonna get this again. Actually want to find a way to get rid of my bottle with least losses.

If you’re looking for Dove or Ivory soap and this doesn’t hit the mark: • Somethin’ Special’s Dove soap - photorealistic interpretation • Abdul Kareem’s Egyptian Musk - heavy upon first application but dries down to nail freshly bathed with white bar soap feel • Perfectly Scentsable’s China Rain - very similar to JLo’s Glow which is the most comparable fragrance to Dove soap that I can think of I am finding that oils are the way to go when trying to recreate “soapy”. They imitate the contact of oils released from soap to the skin far better than traditional spray perfumes.

I don't remember this Ivory soap...maybe it's never been used in Italy! But this demeter I've tried today - I don't know way - reminds me my childhood! I found some demeter very synthetic, but this is really clean, simply and lovely (maybe it works with my chemistry...How I would like to love Vanilla cake batter, but on me it's really bad and "plasticky"...so sad): it's like your skin just washed in a sunny and hot summer day! I like it, as I like similar fragrances: Alessandro Dell'Acqua eau de toilette, L'eté en douce by L'Artisan Parfumeur, Sweet honesty by Avon.

Pure soap can be categorized as clean fragrance if nothing else. There's nothing remarkable about it and can be best worn after shower when you are just going to spend a day at home and want that clean feel of shower for a bit longer, though there are better smelling soaps out there on the market. It smells soapy right from the beginning with a prominent hint of synthetic musk and a mix of floral notes. The more it settles the more it smells soapy which we usually smell after shower.

On me, this smells like JLo's Glow that later turns into Dial. On my friends, however,it smells different. One friend, this smelled like Camay. The other friend, a mix of Caress/Dove. So body chemistry plays a big part in how this will work on you. Anyway you slice it though, it still comes up, pure soap! EDIT: On a hot day like today (and it's only going to get hotter as summer gets into full swing here), this was wonderful! I felt fresh all day long running my errands.

as i really only wear subtle clean smelling perfumes this really does have that lovely soapy smell with out being too soapy!! in fact the only negative is it doesnt stay on the skin for very long! i think it prob has an hour staying power so needs to be constantly applied which is a real shame!

Initial smell is like floor cleaner, but in a good way. One it settles, it's a photorealistic version of Ivory soap. When you really get up close to this fragrance, you can even smell the almost fatty, sharp undertones like in a real bar of soap. An incredibly well made, clean scent.

I don't think it smells anything like Ivory Soap, which is what I was hoping for. I grew up on a resort, and to me this smells like the small cakes of boutique facial soap we used to put in each bathroom. Nice, yes; soapy, yes. Just not Ivory.

Truth in advertising is exemplified in Demeter Pure Soap. If you like the fleeting smell of lye-rich, chemically-scented soap, then this extends that shower experience into your morning commute.

A creamy, fresh (but not harsh) bar of sudsy white soap with faint hints of light florals. So clean and just-out-of-the-bath; just the most inoffensive scent imaginable.

A photorealistic version of Lever 2000 bar soap. Ordinary bar soap, not beautiful, frilly decorative or designer soaps... Ordinary bar soap...
