Sawdust

This is lovely, not too sharp, it has a subtle fresh, green element, slightly sharp green like the green leaves of a tree with some tart musky undertone behind it but soft and earthy, perfectly balanced and it quickly morphs into a subtly sweet solar woody nutty scent along with the green musky element of the opening. It smells a lot like the anise and the cedar- guaiac wood in Korres Philosia which has a nutty woody effect with a sharp green side - my favorite green woody anise perfume. They both have a musky undertone but this is softer. It has a subtle balsamic quality to it but not like vanilla or leathery as guaiac wood usually is and that note is like that in Philosia, quite leathery and more intensely green. Sawdust still has a smooth woody comforting scent to my nose. It is not dry, but a creamy sweet woody smell the way I like woody base notes, it's like the creamy guaiac wood of Philosia with some of the cedar's green sharp element, but nothing obnoxiously sharp or medicinal here and not leathery. This also has a subtle solar warmth like Philosia does from the anise there. The woody scent here is not a dusty or a stale pencil shavings type of woody smell, not like sandalwood. It's not like the creamy pencil shavings sandalwood of Crystal Noir either or Montana 80 with the milky tone and the crude pencil shavings smell. If you want this type of sawdust then go for crystal noir or Montana 80. It's also unisex but leans feminine imo. It is a creamy nutty soft wood smell like the drydown of Philosia without the sharp kinda tart piney green fruity eucalyptus opening and mid phase of Philosia. Sawdust is not astringent, too green or too sharp as I said. It is softer than Philosia overall. In fact I expected Myrrh by Demeter to have a warm, nutty effect as myrrh usually has , but nope myrrh is soapy and piney sharp then powdery. If I pair Sawdust with Myrrh then Sawdust softens the sharp piney element of Myrrh. I prefer Sawdust worn alone, but it just makes Myrrh more tolerable to me. Sawdust also pairs great with Frankincense to soften the heady rosy indian-incense scent of it. It's full bottle worthy for me. It's like going straight to the creamy woody earthy, solar nutty musky and subtly green soft drydown of Philosia. Projection is good not beast-mode and lasts about 3hrs on me then fades into a skin scent. It's a LOVE.

It's not the type of wood I can recognise and it's not how I imagined sawdust smells, but nonetheless it's very nice fragrance. It's sweet and a tiny bit spicy

I layer this with Demeter's Tobacco and Whiskey when I miss my father. It's like sneaking into the coat closet and hugging his old hunting jacket.

This opened with a weird note that reminded me of a berry-scented marker from preschool in the 90s. Then there was an oily woodiness, but I have to say, I do woodworking and this it did not smell like the sawdust I was hoping it would. The wood scent was quite faint, but then as it dried down it became pleasantly sweet and toasty. Again, not very realistic, but not unpleasant.

I bought a huge lot of Demeter fragrances on Listia, then swatched them all on paper after I received them. Sawdust stood out as my favorite. It smells so much like freshly cut wood, it's amazing. However this has absolutely so lasting power, nor can you smell the fragrance without putting your nose right up to your skin. Very disappointing.

Unexpectedly reads as white floral with slight nose sting, not wood. Family member smells beach air while I smell flowers. This may be built from aromatic materials that suggest wood abstractly, rather than actual wood molecules.

I was hoping for a dry, dusty, spicy smell. What I got was straight pine resin. This one's not for me, but I can imagine it appealing to others.

I'm not really sure what to say about this... I just received a sample of this with a purchase i made. I always test out bonus samples first and then get to the main goodie after. I dabbed liberally on my skin...let it dry out....sniff....nothing. i put my nose in my shirt to reset my nose in case thats what the problem is. No. It smells like nothing. Is this a joke? I put more of it on. Still Nothing. So as of now, this smells like absolutely nothing. I'll have to smell them a different day. Maybe my nose is playing a trick on me.

I'm sure this smells like a type of sawdust, but not a type i've ever encountered. Growing up my father always was working out in the garage and so I am very familiar with the smell of fresh sawdust. I totally adore the smell. With this I just got a type of vanilla really. Just sweet. It didn't pull me back to my childhood like I was hoping. But when I got my batch of samples they all kind of smelled the same so I am hoping someone just double dipped the pipettes.

Strangely so-so. A lot more woody than dusty, if that makes sense. It's almost as if the wood is too specific — I find I'm trying to identify the type of wood, rather than enjoying the overall fragrance. (Is it sandalwood? Or maybe a touch of cedar? Something spicier than I expected.) The best way I can describe it is this: I feel like someone just handed me a gourmet blend of sawdust, and I'm sheepisly wishing for plain old plywood instead. In terms of wearability, I agree that it's a very fresh scent, and not overly masculine.

Remember the Seinfeld episode where Kramer was trying to captivate the essence of what skin smells like after coming home from the beach and no one wanted to help him? Lol this reminded me of that episode. I love the smell of brand new wooden floors...I just never thought about wearing the floor.

I love this fragrance. It is one of the best out of the woods category. It is fresh, yet has presence without being overpowering. It is ideal for women who love woody fragrances. And one of the most wonderful aspects to this scent is that is not overly masculine at all.

Truly smells just like you are standing next to a construction site and they are sawing 2 x 4s. For someone that likes the raw smell of lumber, then this is for you.

Sawdust smells exactly like the generic black walnut ice cream my grandmother used to buy at Walgreens in the 80s. It smells nothing like sawdust. Oh well.
